Goated Regular Show VS Troonslop Digital Circuck
I wouldn't even call Regular Show that smart or well written, it's just that the anguish of a man about to lose his job because his employees slacked off is infinitely more relatable than "I'm a hecking sociopath anime bunny boy that uses humor to cope". Plus Regular Show characters talk like humans and not anime characters.

Bionicle had a more coherently written story and that only existed to sell toys to children
Comparing this to Bionicle makes even more sense when you consider that a big theme in Digital Circus is mental health, and Bionicle’s most famous commercial features a song that’s literally asking the listeners to not kill themselves.

odd choice, but considering the Scooby doo show at the time had a theme sung by a band who primarily wrote songs about suicide, it was probably calculated.

Ok, not autistic question about Bionicle:

What was the non-emotional, business reason that LEGO killed this stuff? I remember seeing these things everywhere and they even had a dedicated part of the toy isle. I also remember seeing them at endcaps and in check outs in little pods. Why did something so popular disapear so fast? It felt like these things were around for a decade, only getting more popular, to then just *poof* out of existance.

Edit: I forgot, I even bought my little cousin a happy meal with them in it, and an extra toy on the side for just a bag for a mask. Yea, they were big.

I am not even mad at SOMA theory being true. Even if a twist doesn’t surprise you, the way they handle can make up for it.

What dissapointed me is that there was ZERO horror to the situation. Even Jax’s death is just an afterthought. I am not even saying it should had been depressing or even sad.

Yes, the situation is terrifying in theory. On paper knowing for a fact you are trapped forever in a place with monsters that used to be like you, and might be you one day, should be horrifying. Worse, you don’t even get the luxury of being real.

But in practice this is indistinguishable from a Steven Universe therapy episode. Crying, talking about feelings and then cope with the power of friendship. And they just hug it out with Caine.

They have the horror set up of "I have no Mouth and I must Scream" , but the gravitas and maturity of "My Little Pony".
The ending of Soma is incredibly depressing despite the protagonists achieving their goal of escaping to the fake reality because the game doesn't shy from the fact that the Ark is a soulless artificial simulation that doesn't fix the fact that humanity is extinct and the only potential hope of its survival is an AI mindlessly pumping out endless abominations that the protagonist can potentially kill before the end. It's like they ripped off the premise of Soma without understanding the nuances.

I was kind of expecting TADC's ending to be sort of like lighter and comedic version of how IHNMAIMS ends but this was extremely lame. It reminds me of that meme about White Mirror because it feels too sappy.
I'll at least give Goose and Glitch a bone for not ending it with a sequel hook but now that means Glitch need a new Spongebob and I don't think Gameoverse will do a good job of filling the void. Hopefully it will lead to more milk like what's been happening with this shitshow of a movie release.

Making the selfish decision to keep everyone trapped in the Circus. (The option was never real, but he didn't know that.)
Nah, it was that he resisted letting his reptilian gf crack his troon egg instead of meekly accepting the grooming, making life difficult for all the other they/them freaks around. If only he wore that ribbon and kept the dress all would be forgiven. The cardinal sin for troons is telling troons "no."

Samoan and Polynesian people were extremely assblasted that they used names and imagery based on pacific island culture and protested the fuck out of Bioncle for years until Lego finally caved.

In many ways, Bionicle was a canary in the coal mine for political correct censorship.

Also Lego wanted to step away from “violence.” And bionicle was the action figure equivalent for Lego, so it had to go

I hope it does because GLITCH should not be associated with Gooseworx troonery and at least Gameoverse doesn't look like it has that (what am I saying they all bait and switch that shit don't they)

After bionicle ended there were a lot of retroactive "canonizations" of shit by one of the main writers that will never stop bothering me because they have very much "nothing matter" vibes about it in a way that Bionicle itself seemed the complete opposite of. I'm not going to ever accept the "oh they don't feel romantic feelings for others they're just like cells int he giant robot dood" shit undoing the whole relationship between two important characters in the years before this plotline. However once again those were made AFTER THE SERIES ENDED so I fucking ignore that shit. Bionicle being over and a solid series with some very small hiccups during it's run is something you will never see again in anything made to sell kids toys. It's not even the only thing from around that timeframe that was solid media meant to sell kids toys.
Hot wheels TV special miniseries from the mid 2000s that was a sequel to another miniseries with shorter episodes than it explained how characters changed in the years between the two.
One of them literally roped his bro into a drug deal and then snitched without telling the cops about his own involvement with it. They got around the censors by just referring to it as a "business deal" but you immediately know what they're talking about. basically walling off his little brother markie from and helping his own career by keeping hush about his criminal activity. naturally this fucking turns his bro into a really fucking irritable person

By the way lego has a weird history of trying to self sabotage with bionicle for some fucking reason and almost smothered their initial success but that's a whole other bag of trivia worms.

There's a number of reasons, one of them being some woowoo shit about the characters having weapons. I've seen some people claim it was due to poor sales but it very clearly wasn't just that because towards the end the sets got really REALLY weird with their seemingly intentionally brittle and cheap parts. Like you can easily take apart and put back together 23+ year old lego ball joints but the ones from 2008-2010 are going to explode immediately. I could go on for hours about my schizo theories about lego's internal wars between the designers and bean counters but yeah something weird happened with Bionicle, especially at the end.

I remember seeing a Xitter post that was like “the problem with modern voice actors in Western animation is that they all talk like they’re in an anime and not like they’re in a cartoon”. Very true observation.
The problem with modern cartoonists in general is they want to make fake anime instead of Western cartoons.

The cat in the very center of the image is the protagonist of the comic series "Lackadaisy", which has been going on since 2006. Not sure what has happened in the past decade, but Lackadaisy in the least will continue with it's own small cult of fans.

The creator is a 46 years old white woman with a lot of skill in traditional art. Despite the comic having goofy cats as the characters, she can also draw human counterparts in the same intense level of detail and expression.

I was honestly under the impression that Lackadaisy would sooner have a live action television series sooner than any furry cartoon animation since her human drawings are more empathetic but maybe things didnt work out for her.

You forgot to mention that in late 2025, Glitch bought Lackadaisy.

This is an official drawing by Lackadaisy creator, Tracy J. Butler. In fact, judging from her Tumblr account, she's very proud that her creations are part of the Glitch family.

As the average Glitch show, they confirmed that Lackadaisy will only have one season.

Which is fucking crazy considering how much Japan and America have been taking inspiration from each-other from the start.
And then came the time when the dumbasses taking over America's animation industry see they're tanking, seeing anime straight from Japan's getting all the attention, and just think all they need to do is grunt and groan like an anime character and SURELY that'll fix everything.
I think there needs to be a quintessential list of cartoons that any western voice actor needs to watch to get inspiration from. Megas XLR, Regular Show, etc. I'm sure there's a few 2000's Disney XD shows even, I vaguely remember one that was all about car racing in a dystopia and it was honestly pretty rad.

At least this autism has prevented us from getting Gen 3. Thank god.

Honestly, Gen 1 ended fine where it was. I don’t see the remaining story teases being that interesting.
