VR Troopers is most fun to watch. Every episode is a hodgepodge of multiple episodes of two different Metal Heroes shows.

Its primary Japanese show, Metalder, is real grade-A Japanese material. I actually cried at the introduction of God Neros and the Ghost Bank, so despairing, creepy and sad.

Haven't really checked out any Toku since Gokai and Fourze were airing (except for the GARO anime spin off, which was great). Akibaranger was pretty damn great, though.

Thinking of sitting down and watching the last few GARO seasons (last one I watched was the original and I think the KIBA movie) and KR Gaim soonish. Have the last few Sentai been worth watching?

Time for more Drive. I personally think Dark Drive's design is sexy as hell. I've loved all of the Drive designs so far, but Dark Drive's is pretty awesome all around.

I like Type Tridoron's design though the eyes look a bit weird.

They also teased about Type Super Dead Heat pretty much looks like Type Speed at least in the silhouette

Am I the only one who really isn't enjoying ninninger? I thought BurgerNinger would make things interesting, but we've gone right back to the status quo just a few episodes after his debut, with Takaharu doing everything while the others job.

I'm not enjoying Ninninger either, the characters pretty much seem like a rehash ToQger crew, I mean like it's always been like that (Gokaiger for example) but just seem too similar and unlike ToQger, the mecha's in this series are all over the place, Dragon,Ninja,Dumptruck? Now we got a cowboy and soon a surfer?

I liked the ToQgers, especially Tokatti and Akira. But all sentai characters follow some kind of formula, usually with a little twist.

My real complaint is how little time in the spotlight they're getting, which is also a major problem with Kyoryuger. It seems like it's shying away from actual focus episodes for each member of the team, instead hammering away at how awesome and amazing Takaharu is. If this is how it's going to be for the entire series, we are going to end up with a very two dimensional cast of characters.

It doesn't help that Takaharu is a terrible, terrible actor.

That's the problem with the crossover episode with Kakuranger/Hurricaneger I was so stoked for it but it turned out to just be a "Takaharu is the best person in the team" episode. When Starninger appeared he seemed cool now he's just like eh... Akira was a better 6th ranger imo.

I have finally gotten my Zyuranger DVD! I know, I am real late, but I am just too poor to be able to just spend $40 at any given time for a DVD set. On top of that, it takes so goddamn long for anything to import into my crazy country...

Anyway, I am so looking forward to watching Zyuranger in linear order for the first time. Here we go!

Thoughts on Kamen Rider Drive, now that it's over? I thought it was pretty damn good, and in some aspects surpassed Gaim. Now we're heading up to Kamen Rider Ghost, which should be interesting.

It had it's good things but it felt a bit eh,
Drive Spoiler Ahead
Tridoron only used 3 mix wheels which was kind of a downer tbh. Also the last Mach/Chaser form was cheesy as fuck.

Drive got pretty good later on. Admittedly it's a bit late (around episode 30?), making it like inverse Kabuto. Characters were a bit crap though, which sucks.

Pretty much this. Kabuto was great when it started but then it went down hill fast.

I always felt like one of the big problems with Kabuto was Souji himself. Until the last dozen episodes or so, he does very little to move the plot forward while Kagani runs around actually doing plot stuff while Souji is simply standing around cooking and looking cool whenever pre-Gatack Kagami actually needs to fight.

In fact, Tendou himself was largely a pointless character, in my opinion. Very little would have to change if you gave Tendou's backstory to Kagami, or if you just did away with him, period. Kagami himself is a much more likeable character, who embodies heroic qualities much better than Tendou and he actually bothers to be involved in the plot. Hell, Kabuto wouldn't have gone downhill if it heavily cut down on the "make Tendou look cool" episodes and dedicated them to actual plot stuff. The final stretch of Kabuto being mindnumbingly stupid can be traced to the show making up stuff to actually involve him in the plot and suffering for it.

So guys, Ghost just aired and I was watching, so I thought I'd air my two cents on the first episode. Let me say the episode was very fast paced. Not a lot of backstory to what was going on in the episode. Takeru lives at a Buddhist temple since his father died when he was young. He spends a lot of time reading up on deceased historical figures like Musashi or Edison. His best friend, Akari, isn't a believer in the supernatural and believes things can be explained scientifically. Anyway, this year's monsters, the Ganma, attack a group of people killing a bunch of them without being seen since they are ghosts. A mailman is attacked by the Ganma because he has something and that leads to the beginning of end for Takeru. It moves by in like four minutes. One second Takeru has the Ghost Eyecon and then he's being murdered by the Ganma. He becomes a spooky ghost, transforms, and fights. That's the episode. It gets the origin over with right from the start. I feel like, despite moving at the speed of light, it'll be better as time goes on. The same thing happened in Gaim, and that was an incredible series. The music is awesome as well, video below for the opening, so that's a nice treat. Take a look when the RAWs are up, but don't expect an opening, because apparently first episodes don't need opening anymore.
