did japanese fans dislike the yellow ranger in kingohger? I get it, iirc she made a post somewhere (either twitter or an interview) saying japan should be more diverse, the usual shit. at least she's hot.
You know, I haven't watched kingohger outside her introduction a few months ago. It seems kingohger was overhyped at the time and I wanted to watch it after the hype was over. But it wouldn't surprise me, she's from Canada but went by her mom's maiden name, probably because of Japan being enthocentric.

I felt the same, the suit designs are sick and the motif is great as its our insect themed sentai, but the entire show is just the characters behind a green screen, too much cgi for my liking and using kyoryuger nostalgia bait for plot is cringe imo. also the director confirming the purple ranger is mentally ill non binary doesn't make it any better.

I have gotten into the new Wingman series, really enjoying it so far, the suits on this show look great.

I ended up unsubscribing to this Tokusatsu YouYube channel after they posted this:

Another proof why a lot of American fans are insufferable in general especially when it comes to socio-political stuff. These people have to associate their beliefs with kid's shows and their meltdowns says it all. Oh well, they'll cope and seethe then.

I thought the actor playing Papillon Ohger confirmed her character to be female?

the actor said rita is a female, but when the series ended the main writer came out and said she's non binary. toku twitter didn't shut up about it
and yeah I tend to avoid western fans.

I really can't imagine what a toku-centered podcast could bring me beyond a para-social relationship with somebody talking about toku.
Otherwise it's all just gonna be shit they read online the same as me.
John Toei ain't calling some gaijin to drop a dime about some dirt. At most you'll get a scoop like the time King Nekketsu leaked W's super form to /m/

Ever since that Shout Factory toku podcast sperging out about how Ultraman was xenophobic, I've just sort of assumed all Western tokusatsu fans are like that. Weabs who try hard to come off as "cultured" always have this weird air about them where they wanna insert Western politics and values that might not be in the actual work. They have a hard time relating to any culture that isn't American.

Typical Western world problems - Find something to complain about no matter how stupid it is. Also, they think that their values should align with other cultures due to their ignorance while saying "they're progressive" and all the typical buzzwords these retards use. So how is letting someone do repugnant shit in public and then letting them go due to having a dark skin "progressive" again?

These people never wondered why people on the other side of the world are pushing back at their nonsense.

God these fucking people can never not shut the fuck up about current events and make it about everyone else
Hasn't been the same since Matt left.

I think the non binary was because her kingdom was the judicial system of their kingdoms, not due to the lgbt shit that the modern interpretation.

Toei should yank their licensing agreement just for that.

yeah i can't remember if I said it here or somewhere else, but I'm sure rita being non binary is to show that shes neutral cos y'know the whole thing of staying neutral if you're the judge. but ofc mentally ill toku fans on twitter can't see this.

exactly, it's like how every "anti" racist person online is the most racist person you've met. racist enough to make a klansman and neo nazi blush.

bun violet is nice to see, hoping we get an akarenger sh figurarts. or a whole team for the previous sentai sh figuarts that bandai has released....

Well, I'm out of the PR auction. I'm honestly surprised I stayed in this long. Made a bid of $1200 on a costume from a less popular series, went up to $1300 when I was outbid, and now I'm just not willing to go any higher for what would essentially be an awkward conversation piece.

I can only imagine how crazy things are going to get when live bidding opens. Every cosplayer and/or content creator should be snatching that shit up for eCred.

I recently witnessed on Twitter, after someone pointed it out, that people who probably have never watched any Showa-era toku shows were sperging out over Starfish Hitler from Kamen Rider X, stating that "Oh, this one throwaway monster of the week means Kamen Rider is antifa!" or something.

y78358.png

They only know Showa-era shows from wiki entries and out of context clips. You confront them with tidbits like how in X, the Government of Darkness cloned monsters from historical figures like Geronimo, Al Capone, Napoleon, Ishikawa Goemon, etc. and you might as well be talking to a brick. Can't stand these fake Showa tards who only know of X because of Starfish Hitler and '71 because "Shocker are heckin' Nazis therefore Kamen Rider says trans rights!"
