I debated putting this in the Disney fandom thread but I wonder how it would be if Disney kept the rights to power rangers but otherwise became Disney as we know them in regards to Marvel, Star Wars, Fox, etc. Would PR be better off if it got to stick under a more prosperous Disney, or would it be ignored past the bare minimum?
iirc didn't they end up accidentally getting the rights as part of buying Fox Family and they never really gave much of a shit?
I recall a couple of SPD pins and a SPD Red you could get your picture with at MGM Studios but they never really seemed to have any enthusiasm about the IP

Anyone got a toku show with good fights? Need some light watching to practice my moon runes comprehension. Already seen Garo and part of Kuuga.

Build has some of the best action scenes in Kamen Rider history. The CGI tends to be ugly but it's stylized just right. I feel as if Zero-One also has really nice action and sometimes the CGI looks nice but not much else going on. Amazons season 1 has some stunts using wires if you're more interested in that kind of practical and CGI mixture.

I would second Build and also recommend Ex-Aid, other than some CGI and ugly suits its one of the better more recent series.

So around 8 or 9 years ago I brought a set of 4 Operation Overdrive Transmorphers, sealed on card, at an auction for like 18 bucks or so. I kicked myself for paying too much. Lol their worth like 200 total now. Not even Bide-flation can keep up with me.

Modern Disney was already well under-way when they axed Power Rangers (which they never knew what to do with and had been hiding away on off-basic cable, anyway) with wave one of the Marvel films already nearing completion. If anything, being part of Disney would have meant it was a dead IP because you'd have to pay both Disney and Toei, which only Saban was willing to do.

Donbrothers is coming to an end next week, and its following the standard sentai formula of introducing a brand new group of antagonists in the finale.

Also, Momotaro got the vaxx.

I hope ya'll are prepared for the massive amount of thirstposting over the black ranger that's on the horizon.

HOWEVER, for the first time in over a decade, a female ranger's suit actor will be male. So word of warning: If you thirstpost over Rita, you are actually thirsting over a 60 year old man.

We're seven episodes into Ohsama Sentai King-Ohger and I fucking hate it. The last three seasons of sentai have been amazing. Kiramager had amazing action scenes and great characters. (Shiguru getting kicked still makes me laugh to this day.) Zenkaiger was fully realized from day one and relentlessly joyful throughout its run. Donbrothers was inconsistent, but really found its groove towards the end once it fully developed the interpersonal relationships of the characters.

King-Ohger suffers from replacing CG characters in Donbrothers with CG EVERYTHING. The series looks like a spinoff of Disney's Once Upon a Time. The Japanese do not have the competency to use this much CGI, and that's especially evident in a show with the production timetable that sentai has. I think Kiramager used CG to best effect because they used it to blend practical effects. King-Ohger is just awash in bad CG.

The story in King-Ohger is meandering to the point of frustration. And Gira is the worst red we've had in awhile (though, tbf, Juruu from Kiramager was also terrible). So far, none of the villains have had a chance to really stand out. I'm not even sure if the evil king is a villain or just an asshole who coincidentally happened to be a major asshole around the same time the bad guys attacked. The other rangers are okay. So far, only the yellow and blue rangers have had much development, but they're both pretty good.

I just watched the Power Rangers Netflix special and holy fucking shit, it was much better than it had any right to be.

If they decide to turn it into a series and make, like 5 or 6 of these a year, I'd be all in.
It definitely wasn't perfect, but you're right that it was surprisingly good for what they were going for. Hope those rumours of Yost returning for Cosmic Fury are true.

The action scenes in the special were pretty great, just a lot of nitpicks on the story.

Them not being able to get the original (living) rangers was pretty obvious at the beginning and they didn't seem to grab the cleanest audio to use when dubbing them in.
They kept leaving the monsters in the heart of downtown during attacks. Kill the putty's, move civilians 5 feet off screen and leave. This wasn't punished by the monsters just resuming their attack and bringing the Rangers back.
Kid Trini "We really need to kill the monsters instead of incapacitating them." Billy "This is the plan" 5 minutes later, "we need to kill the monsters"
Alpha: "I made these backup power coins, but it will put you in the situation of too much Red and too much Pink power" This is never brought up again.
Ignoring the Zeo powers and possibly the Turbo powers. (Turbo powers are kind of hazy if they can morph or not. Justin got his powers back briefly during In Space, so they still exist)
Speaking of destroyed powers: All the original power coins were destroyed. They were replaced with the Zeo Crystals (Which weren't destroyed, just abandoned for the Turbo powers), which were superior in every way.

All of the nitpicks aside, the nostalgia factor was a solid 8/10. The Adam/Aiesha cameo's were a bit forced since they gave them nothing to do. (We can tell who let themselves go in the 30 years.)

I'm just old and don't like inconsistency of my spandex wearing heroes.

They definitely didn't think through all the captured rangers. I'm pretty sure Zeo Yellow shouldn't have been there.

I surprisedly like it. The actors did better than I expected at first. I did find it cool how they brought back Rita too.
Honestly did anyone else find it kind of dark when Rita talked about going in the past to team up with her past self and to kill the rangers in their sleep before Zordon could find them.
I didn't mind Trinia's daughter too much either.

Edited: also they mentioned the Tobian Empire as in the bad guys forms SPD?

Dark, but wouldn't that mean Zordon would have just picked another 5 teenagers that she couldn't predict?

More of an alternate timeline than a plot hole, I think.
Good point I think the user above was wondering if Rita succeeded in killing the rangers before Zordon could find them how would that stop Zordon from finding different group of kids.

Also was that the same Tobian Empire from SPD they mentioned?
