They're pretty good, though I wish more was done with Tregear and Juggler as villains.
I wished we’ve gotten more motivation on Tregear’s part because he had some things going for him that made him better than Belial, which to me felt like he was a edgy asshole who was butthurt about Taro’s dad and being banished.

I think it would have been more interesting if Tregear was a student of Taro who became disillusioned with him after seeing him show favoritism to Taiga, and only grew to hate the Land of Light even more after learning about several Ultras committing morally questionable acts (Hikari becoming Tsurugi, Belial merging with Rayblood, Zero attempting to steal the Plasma Spark), and turned against them because he felt they were no better than the forces of darkness they claimed to be against.

That would’ve been compelling since it would be a contrast to Mebius. Hell, I wished Mebius was in Taiga as a mentor but sadly Mirari’s actor isn’t acting any more.

Fuck, that’s something I wished they did with Belial in Geed. I mean, he got kicked out for attempting to steal the Plasma Spark while Zero got a slap on the wrist. And when Geed finds out after episode 17, he tries to reason both of them about it but instead we got Belial being pissy.

Watched the first half of Jetman. Not quite sure why the show gets so much praise.

The villains are great. I love seeing them get involved with fights instead of just loafing around while their minions gets defeated. Although its a little hard to take their competition seriously when they have the rangers on the ropes and then just fuck off because they get bored (this happens multiple times).

The Jetmen themselves are kinda boring. They're distinct, but the tedious love triangle (square?) drags everybody down with it. For goodness sake, Kaori is the least interesting of an overall uninteresting ranger team. Why is everybody so obsessed with her?? Gai is cool, though. Biggest laugh from me came when an episode opens with Gai playing poker with two playboy bunnies at a community pool.

Episodes range from good to okay. I don't think I've seen a "great" episode outside maybe the pilot. And the episode where they drank tainted fruit juice which altered their personalities was downright awful.

Meanwhile, Zenkaiger continues to be insane fun:

The only thing I can contribute to this thread is that I've watched a few Tokusatsu/Super Sentai series over the past two months.

I don't know; I had the itch to walk down Nostalgia Lane a little bit, so I watched a couple of episodes of Power Rangers for fun. While it was fun, I decided to go down the rabbit hole of Super Sentai instead; it was a way for me to watch "new media" while also being nostalgic, if that makes sense?

Anyway, I've watched Jetman, Zyuranger, Dairanger, and Carranger. Zyuranger is just classic, and Carranger is legitimately hilarious, but ... Story wise, I adored Jetman and Dairanger. Good shit.

How do you all like the Reiwa Ultraman shows (Taiga, Z, Trigger) so far?
I don't think I caught Taiga, Z was pretty good, Trigger's been decent but the cast doesn't click for me the way Z's did.
The Absolute Conspiracy wasn't bad. Dug how they had the one guy who was also Dairanger Black dub himself.

Is OOO and Zero One good shows to watch? I’m interested in watching animal based Kamen Rider.

Z was a blast to watch, and Taiga wasn’t half bad either. Trigger is getting better along the way though the cast isn’t doing that much for me either.

As far as the New Generation Heroes era is concerned, Ginga wasn’t good but watchable, X was alright, Orb was great, Geed was descent, and R/B started good but sucked hard after Aizen left.

the best thing would be for Aizen to randomly just show up to sperg at Current Ultra how he's doing it wrong

Zenkaiger is one of those shows that is just begging for an "X without context" compilation video.

I would love to see him sperg at the MCU.
How do you think Moviebob would react to Aizen as a character, given he's an obsessive Ultraman fan and a corrupt businessman?

Finished Jetman. F'ing hell, what a terrible series.

All the Jetman except Gai are awful people. Ryu is a stupid selfish bastard who constantly abandons the team to chase after his dead waifu. Kaori doesn't even wait until the body's cold before dumping Gai and slipping into Ryu's pants. Raita's final bit of character growth is that he's a fat monster who will eat anything. And Aoki, well... Aoki comes off okay because she gets ZERO development throughout the series.

There are at least four episodes in the back half of the series which consist solely of the following dialogue:
"RRRRIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"
"Maria."
"RRRRRIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEE!!!!!"
"Maria."
*incoherent grunting*

Tranza had one good episode where his "villainy" was picking up chicks Gai was hitting on, but he fizzled out pretty quickly. His end was great, though. Radiguet lost a bit of his charm in the finale because they failed to explain anything going on with him. Heck, I don't think they explain anything about the Vyram whatsoever.

Grey deserved better.

Zenkaiger is only six episodes away from the end and what plotlines there are seem to be wrapping up.

-Kaito's mom was freed from stasis and is currently MIA.
-Kaito's dad was freed from stasis and has become the only bad guy with a non-shit design, Hakaiser.

-Stacey thinks he's friends with Hakaiser despite Hakaiser being a brainwashed drone.
-Twokaiser's two brothers are no closer to be cured.
-Flint kinda got some characterization. She also got called the team's cheerleader by Juran (lol).

I still fucking hate Stacey with a burning passion. He was briefly tolerable in the school and tennis episodes, but my god are his outfit and costume design awful. He's also a pissy emo loser.

Gonna miss this series when its gone. Rumor is that 46 will be a sequel series, but we still got a week or so until the reveal.

zenkaiger in a nutshell.png

Next week they're finally fighting SD World and potentially curing Ricky and Cutler. To what end, who knows, because Ricky and Cutler make up half of Zox's kit and a couple of the zord combos.

I also started watching Dairanger because it came so highly recommended and... it has the worst opening episode in any of these series I've seen yet.

I'm watching Cutie Honey The Live and I love the actor who plays Seiji. Shouma Yamamoto. I understand he's in Kamen Rider?
