Seriously. The original sounds better in every single aspect. The guitars sound better. The drums are better. The mix is better. The vocals are not tarded, for fuck's sake.
I mean, I stopped listening to In Flames after Clayman, anyway, but c'mon, just because you're a shite band now doesn't mean you have to go and retroactively ruin your own legacy, you fucking swedish cucks.
Take At The Gates. They are still awesome despite some long pause. Or Dissection, who went out with a bang.

Early meme music. "Have you heard my new favorite song?" Damn takes me back. Almost pedestrian nowadays.

I tried to see if anyone mentioned Machine Head, who made imo the best album of the 21st century if you like older-style metal. The Blackening is the shit, lost my license for a month listening to it while driving. Even if some of the riffs are takes on oldschool stuff, it's still a great album with a handful of longer tracks. Not even the best song on the album, but this one was written in response to an absolutely tasteless article written about Dimebag Darrell.

As far as meme metal is concerned, my old favorite was the one where its a sample of weird BDSM porn where a man hilariously reprimands a woman and spanks her, until the spanking masterfully fades into blast beats and gutturals. Man when I was like 15 and me and my friends found that we were convinced it was the pinnacle of comedy. I can't find it anywhere, I think the band's name had like pig or hog in the name.
 
Fucking love those guys, I especially adore Accept's very first album when they were taking big cues from 70's Judas Priest and proto-metal bands with soaring, epic songwriting. It's such a cool interesting mixture that they basically dropped after the first record.

I love this song too, and the hilarious close-up Udo-belly shots throughout. So 80's, must've played my VHS with music videos taped from TV in my teens until the thing disintegrated. Camo til death!

And apparently only 4 songs on this version are getting re-recorded? The rest of the songs are just the original versions, just remastered (read: probably brickwalled).
So it won't appeal to purists and it won't appeal to the 7 people who want Clayman totally re-recorded. Insanely pointless.

Anyway, still the greatest DM album ever released as far as I'm concerned:
A lot of albums bubbling under the surface I could pick if I was in different mood, but still, Infester were something else.
 
They were briefly Robert Deathrage's backing band too, which is fucking hilarious.
 
I love that metal albums still have album art that looks like an edgy junior high school student's notebook scribbles from the 1980s. I've been listening to it for close to 40 years now and it still feels like home.

Indeed, Land of Mystery is a cult classic, although I'm not so sure I'd call it Doom Metal. One of my pals wasn't so keen on calling the album Metal at all, but that's another ball of wax I'm not interested in untangling. Black Hole was obviously influenced by Black Sabbath along with the legends in Italian Progressive Rock like Goblin, but the music is incredibly eclectic. The end result is a weird mix of RPI and Occult Rock with metallic underpinnings.

Sadly, that album's master tapes are reportedly lost, so we'll never be treated to a digital remastering. Even the official reissues you see on CD are just vinyl rips that have been polished digitally.
