Do Russians actually play Tetris? Like was it ever anything over there or is it simply big in the rest of the world?

I recall hearing it was big in the college computing scene where you could get access to the massive power needed to run it in the days before Dendy

Tetris 99 is putting old themes up as rewards for the next six days. Only need ten points to get the themes and there is a new one every day. Started today!
 
Not big into Tetris (probably because I'm awful at it), but sometimes I like to mess around in ones with a cool theme or gimmick (3D Tetris, Pokemon Tetris, Tetris Attack).

I remember playing the DS version of Tetris. (The one where there’s Mario, Zelda and Metroid themed versions of it that each had their own spin on the formula)

Remember feeling so satisfied when beating the main mode and getting past level 20 I want to say.

I had no idea that one had Nintendo content, I'll have to check it out.
