This is what my Turkish FB friend wrote recently on his wall:

"So, noone prays for Istanbul? How about the Turkish flags on the profiles??? What is so different? Can anyone tell me here please?"

He doesn't like Erdogan, but he doesn't like the IS either. Guy kinda has a point, I think.

He does have a point, but...
  1. Turkey isn't exactly a peaceful country like France is, so hearing about terrorist attacks isn't nearly as shocking as it was for France
  2. The death toll is 10 as opposed to 150
  3. Western countries tend to give way more of a shit about other Western countries than they do about non-Western countries; that's just the way it is

Yeah, I'd honestly want to see more solidarity to Turkey because while the leadership of the country has made some questionable decisions in regards to many things(including how they handle IS), it'd help as a symbolical gesture that the world should be one in the fight against IS.

Yeah, unfortunately Westerners seem to regard things like terrorist attacks in Russia/China/Middle East in general somehow less significant or bad which is a terrible way of thinking especially when we're fighting a common enemy.

How are you supposed to remove kebab, in kebab country?

Joking aside, this is a tragedy, and I hope ISIS is stopped soon so there is no more bloodshed.

Wow, we're definitely NOT in Constantinople.

Hope those within the area can find safety, shelter.
