I was expecting something new but like whatever, I'll take the breadcrumbs.
I've been trying to contact people involved in the whole "porn discord server with minors in it" shit to see what more we can get on Fabsol and his ex-goons.
I'm too fucking lazy and retarded to make a whole effortpost on my own, so anyone interested can DM me and I can try to share you some stuff.
These fucking faggots are so comically evil for only caring about the tranny hate shit instead of the actually disgusting pedo things. 10000% they were involved in it and I want to at least try unearthing something.
Hey can you DM me that? I would like to check it out.

Forget mods, are these motherfuckers going to release 1.4.5 at some point or is that just never going to happen? I'm looking at the monthly steam news, and back in June of 2023 they claimed that they were "Closing in on the final stages of 1.4.5 development".

What the hell are these people doing for a single update to an already existing game that takes over 2 years to complete?
They mentioned in one of the older (but still recent) SOTG that they were "Updating the pipeline to streamline things down the line for the future." or something along those lines, it was extremely sussy and stuck out to me.

Specifically in the april SOTG:

Lots of interesting things going on behind the scenes as of late - hopefully some of that comes to fruition and we can share the details in later months. We know things are a bit chaotic in the world right now as well, so we do hope that Terraria can at least provide an area of respite for everyone. We also know that releasing the update would certainly help in that regard. We are doing all that we can to not only get this one done, but also plan a bit ahead to streamline things for down the road - but that's a story for another time.

Assuming this isn't talking about the retarded boardgame that they won't shut the fuck up about and is actually about terraria itself, it makes me think that they are probably updating the entire engine to fix the original issue and reason given for stopping terraria's updates, that being that the engine was already at its limit.

After overworld failed, they probably realized terraria is a massive cashcow and as long as they keep adding gimmicks and items to it people will keep coming back, but they can't because the engine is ass.

At the same time, they can't really release terraria 2, because terraria 1 has so much content it would take years for terraria 2 to even begin to approach its depth and breadth.

The solution to all of these problems?

tl;dr

Terraria 2.0. They remaking the game in a new engine so they can continue updating it in perpetuity since its a massive ash cow, but the current engine sucks.

This is why the update is taking so ridiculously long. They are rebuilding the game from scratch.

Or they're literally just fucking around playing paper football in the office all day, that's also a possibility.

Just found out Terraria had a thread here. Huh, who knew?

Hard to believe I've been playing this game for almost 12 years now, this game is what got me into PC gaming, Steam, etc. so it'll always hold a special place in my heart. Man I remember only having the mobile version back in like 2013 when it was just 1.1.2 with the console exclusive content added in. I remember when I finally got access to PC Terraria when it was 1.2.4.1 and being blown away but only being able to play it for like 3 hours at a time since the only person in my family with a Windows computer at the time was a relative of mine. I remember always dropping everything to watch the latest 1.3 spoiler and playing it day one when it came out on June 30th. That was 10 years ago. Of course, "remember when" is the lowest form of conversation. So its better to actually play rather than reminisce. I've been playing through Terraria via the old versions these past few years in wait for 1.4.5 (time flies, I started doing this back in like 2023) and I can confidently say for no other reason than nostalgia, 1.2.4.1 is the best version.

Obviously that's a bit of sarcasm, if there is one thing I've learned through the old versions, its that the latest version is by far the best if for nothing more than QoL stuff. I've also noticed just how incomplete the versions prior to 1.3 are, its like 1.0-1.1 is Alpha and 1.2 is Beta, with 1.3 being where I can look at it and go "Yeah this is a complete game with a clear beginning and end." Of course Relogic felt the same way for like 3(?) years before suddenly we find ourselves with 1.4. Some people like to call 1.4 and beyond bloat but I disagree. Unnecessary? Sure, but it fixed a lot of issues I recognized with 1.3, like summoner not really being a fleshed out class or melee feeling lackluster. (1.4.4)

Still I find that are a plethora of issues left unsolved. Stuff like the marble and granite biomes are still useless. So are oceans and the underworld. I want more variants for things in the world, that was one of the best ideas 1.2 had with the Crimson and it was promptly forgotten outside of stuff like moss caves and those just look cool with nothing else. What happened to concepts from 1.2 like an alternate Underworld based on Hercules or the Hallow based on food? That also isn't even talking about my biggest issue, that being Hardmode. its still faltering in some of the big 4 ideas that terraria is built upon: Dig, Fight, Explore, Build. I imagine most players don't really build much beyond Prehardmode, and there isn't much exploring to do in Hardmode outside of the jungle temple (which is why its a highlight) but that's the exception and not the rule. No, I don't think the underground Hallow and Crimson count, most of the time you're exploring familiar areas just with a new coat of paint and enemies. The progression period between Golem and Cultist sucks because its pretty much entirely optional. I feel the game should force your hand more in interacting with its content. I also still feel the game is missing a true final boss, like something truly final, maybe something like Ganon from BOTW.

As for the future, I think at this point if/when 1.4.5 comes out it might not even be billed as 1.4.5, rather it might just be 1.5. Am I crazy for wanting the content stream to end? Maybe just maybe I would accept one final update (lol) that would fix my grievances listed above. (it wouldn't) I'm just tired of waiting for what will likely be a nothing burger updated filled with more optional content that will go unused by the wider public. For the record this cycle of "Ok guys this is our last update!" has been going for 13 years now.

1.1.3 - small update, turned into 1.2
1.2 - this one is odd since as far as I remember they were always talking about new content beyond 1.2
1.3 - planned to be last major content update, but not final update
1.3.6 - small update, turned into 1.4
1.4 - literally named "Journey's End"
1.4.5 - "small" update, has yet to be released for almost 3 years and I'm fully expecting it to become 1.5 at some point.

Remember when Relogic said they were working on another game? I 'member.

I've been taking some pictures of my various worlds across the versions played so far. Figured it would nice to have them somewhere.

Yrimir even shilled it.

God I miss Yrimir.

I beat the game when it was 1.0 and pre-hardmode, then forgot about it until 1.2, but by then I couldn't play any more because my barebones shitty laptop just couldn't handle it any more. It was only 3ish years ago a video showcasing the shimmer biome (presented to me by the algorithm after nostalgia tripping on the old OST) that finally brought me back. Regret to have missed out on some significant updates at the time of release. Terraria is one of those games I know I will always come back to every now and again.

God I miss Yrimir.
I remember watching those vids back in the day, and now all that content in Starbound is legacy stuff. Crazy how I can reasonably say "back in the day" now.

Shame about what happened to Yrimir's health but last I heard he's doing better these days, but I'd rather he stay offline if it means doing better medically.

Going from 1.0 to 1.4.4 must've been a heckuva shock. Funny since I Don't even think I've played 1.4.4 at this point, I've been playing the old versions for so long I think I missed out on all that.

I was only really present or keeping a close eye on the game during the 1.3 era, I don't even think I really batted an eye when 1.4 came out, I think I went "oh that's cool" and promptly returned to whatever else I was doing. Came back a year later and did 1.4, I can understand why some people have issues with it (torch luck wink wink) but I remember getting enamored with the little details it added like characters blinking, wind, etc. It definitely makes the older versions look so much more static by comparison

Whatever happened to that guy?
He complained about health issues at some point, posted this:

as one of his last community tab posts on youtube, then wiped out said tab completely and vanished from the Internet. His last post on twitter was from 2017, and given that he's Swedish, he's either left the web (least likely), fucking died (most likely), or trooned out (see: fucking died).

Whether he died, or trooned out, hella tragic.

Haha I totally forgot I had made this thread, I've sadly moved from Terraria though I should maybe give it a look back again. Mostly just playing Satisfactory for that building / automation itch.

I would say wait until 1.4.5 to play again like I did to my poor friend a couple months ago but given that they cannot be bothered to release 1.(4).5 I would say its worth another go.

surprised this thread only has 10 pages
Maybe I'm wrong in saying it but I think the deal is that most people here have a lot of time spent in the game but have other games they like playing more than Terraria, its the game I've spent the most time of my life in yet for the longest time it's never reached my list of what I would consider to be my favorite games of all time for some reason.

again maybe I'm wrong but I think that might be a common consensus in the thread.

anyway, FUCK calamity master+death mode, this shit isn't possible
You can always change that yknow. Terraria deserves at least 100 pages in my opinion. SS13 being the farmer's game is retarded.

In fact we should make our own Terraria server with blackjack and hookers.

my favourite outfit in terraria will always be moon man with the tux you get from the groom zombie and the moon mask dropping from the lamia in the underground desert corruption biome

Am I crazy for wanting the content stream to end?
I've been wanting them to STOP putting out new Terraria content, both so I can sit down and do "one final full-effort playthrough" at some point, but also so they actually leave some ideas for Terraria 2

I've also noticed just how incomplete the versions prior to 1.3 are

It's kinda funny, I remember playing Terraria back when Skeletron and the Dungeon were first added and saying to my ranga friend:
"This is cool, but I have no idea why anyone would play this over Minecraft, there's so much less here".
Jump forward to when the Wall of Flesh was added (still not Hard Mode by that point), and already that opinion was completely reversed into "I dunno why people still play Minecraft, Terraria has actual bosses and actual loot and base building is 100x more fun and there's actually shit to do in Hell".

Still really frustrated Starbound didn't go anywhere. I wish we lived in a timeline where it was basically as successful as Terraria, a good Sci-Fi alternative that had long legs and ended up with Terraria 1.4 levels of QoL and complexity and interactivity.
(The Frackin' Universe mod was a good step in that direction, but the guy who made it was a fucking degenerate who turned the official FU discord into his personal furry ERP dungeon)

"remember when" is the lowest form of conversation
I really need to watch that show once I'm done with Columbo

Yeah, the problem with Terraria 2 is that'll probably end up like a sims 2 vs sims 3 at launch situation. You've got a game that's been updated for almost 15 years vs something that's only just been created. I found the real issue is that it hurts the games identity

Some of my buddies still bug me about Terraria, Minceraft IS the more normie game after all. I think it just comes down to Minecraft being more like a self-diagnosed autism type game and Terraria being an actual 'tism game, up there with Rimworld.

That's what could've been Terraria 2 or a spin off. I seem to recall Relogic also trying to sort of push that narrative as well. Haven't played Starbound in 6 years now, honestly I'm probably not missing much. Never tried Frackin' Universe but I like to play games vanilla before I try my hands at mods. I suppose when you have so many other games that you haven't played yet then ones you have lose the replay value, especially if they've lost their luster with time.
I really need to watch that show once I'm done with Columbo
I'll let in on a secret: I've only ever watched the first 3 episodes of the Sopranos. Not that I like that, but good luck finding time to watch stuff anymore.
