immense bait/butthurt radiating off this post.

Yeah the portraits are dogcrap no argument there, but at least there's now an option to remove them in the menu. Getting heated over achievement names? Really?
I think people are overreacting over non issues when the worst thing is the horrid balance changes Red's been doing

I'll believe it's the final update when they add the moon as an upside-down post-moonlord version of the underworld biome
I remember reading they did planned to have an alternate dimension like minecraft where you go to the moon but they scrapped it because the code is complete spaguetti and couldnt add it, this was way before moonlord was a squidman and instead was literally just the moon dropping idea.

Why must Red ruin everything?
Because he's one of those faggots that get angry if you play his game in a different way that he envisioned, god forbid a sandbox game gives you different options for progression.

Congrats! That skill ceiling is specifically killed off directly.
Edit: not only is it killed off, but it appears using the non-whip Targeting function of summon weapons also overrides any existing whip tag
Summoner is so gay, they spent 5 years trying to make that class fun and functional only to fail repeteadly, it should have stayed as a magick subclass and just add more minion+magick accesories, thrower had much more potential to be a legitimate and fun class.

In this aspect the Calamity dev team completely smoked Terraria's devs, summoner is one of the most fun classes to play in Calamity

In vanilla Terraria i've never bothered, most summons are ass. The first one that's actually good is in hardmode, gated behind a boss that is a bitch to summon and defeat

Here we go again...

Not to mention that the portrait thing can be changed in the settings which is a small issue when you compare it to the buffs and nerfs.

Buffing the Shadowflame Knife, turning Phaseblades into a pre-Hardmode Clinger Staff, and making the Ale Tosser into a melee weapon. Meanwhile, Ranger gets a nerf to darts, Mage got zero meaningful buffs, and Summoner got a bunch of whips with a bunch of them being completely redundant in the face of the Snapthorn being built in a shed out of scraps. Speaking of crafting Summoner weapons, why the fuck was the Flinx staff made to require more fur because... reasons.

Then you have shit like the Roller Skates which is basically an on-demand pair of Lightning Boots in your mount slot that let you use hooks, wings, and dashes while also boosting your jump height by 50% without impeding your ability to go through doors. Oh, and you can use them to ride on Minecart Tracks because why the fuck not. This is in pre-Hardmode and can be bought outright.

Some of the changes are just fucking baffling like making Windy days and Rain only happening after a Life Crystal is consumed which just makes the world feel more static when you load into a new world on a fresh character. Invisibility potions no longer remove you completely which makes it harder to take screenshots of builds. Pumpkin Pie getting kicked while it's done by increasing the cost even after lowering the tier. Pylons no longer require villagers to be happy enough to sell Pylons which just makes the Happiness mechanic even less important.

I don't wanna sandbag the entire update since there are things I actually like about it such as making Staff/Axe of Regrowth replanting herbs when harvesting (yeah, you can only harvest them in bloom, but it's still super easy to get more than you need), axe power increasing wood yield, and lava critters have a use even after getting the Lavaproof Hook. Hopefully, we see some more changes in the coming weeks to tweak things further.

I dont remember lightning being deadly
That shit decapitated my guide and nuked me
Also the new dog collar item that makes you yelp like a dog when hurt is... something
I like the Kirby-reminiscent fallen star block furniture that was added
Summoner is so gay
Thats my main loadout with the terraprisma, kaleidoscope and stardust armor and all the little summon gear shits AUGH YEAH
I really wish i knew what is making my character make turkey-like sounds when he gets hit
turkey wattle necklace. they added some vanity gear that changes your character sound when hurt. its probably in your inventory or equipped to your loadout

Terraria subreddit can't go 2 hours without thirsting over Witch Doctor.

It was when the update first dropped, but the latest hotfix curbed it back a fair amount. Honestly, I'm glad since thunderstorms basically made it impossible to do anything other than digging underground.

I'm quite fond of the Vampire Pendant since it lets you better LARP as a vampire.

Oh, shit. You just gave me a build idea!

Probably this. 1.4.5 added a bunch of vanity items that change the noises your character make when injured. I'm guessing your using your vanity slot as extra backpack slots. :story:

I've gotta say, some of the new furniture sets and blocks are very pretty like the lava clouds, spike and aquarium blocks, and the office blocks.

I'm very disappointed that these are relegated to only acquiring via crafting/shimmer, I think this update really needed some new structures/mini biomes.

lava clouds
Yeah, missed opportunity to add them to the Underworld since they're perfect for landscaping.
Perfect for making a torture dungeon basement dedicated to the fucking goblin tinkerer.
Bastard.
and the office blocks.
I've always been wanting to do a hospital build for the nurse and the office set is honestly the perfect set.

I don't know of a single block that requires you to shimmer, but I will say the office block needing a 2:1 ratio of wood:gel sucks ass if you don't have a heavy supply to rubies.

We got one for the dungeon and it looks really cool.

That said, given that most of what already exists in game are basically shoeboxes, I'm not too broken up.

Since I'll never not be a complainer I will say the new dungeon entrances are certainly... unique.

giving the player access to something like stained glass and the odd decision to use different dungeon brick colors in the design just feels wrong.

Like you said everything in the game is shoeboxes already, so this just out of place or like I'm playing some premade world.

IIRC, they got someone in community to build it.

he's going to have someone steal this game concept and make it normal again.
mark my words.
I feel like that's basically what Necesse is trying to do, as well as adding shit like the settlement management mechanics of course.

I haven't got very far in Necesse yet because I kept waiting for the actual final update for Terraria, so I can do one last big 100% playthrough and put Terraria behind me for good. But until I can get some mods for 1.4.5 to take out the things I don't like, I guess Necesse gets to go to the front of the line again.

Also I wish we'd get a Starbound 2 that finally gets to be as big as Terraria or become a NMS that's not super boring.

I saw some game being made called Platformer that also looks kinda like Terraria, but it doesn't look very finished yet.

THANK YOU. I was almost punching the screen because it was annoying me so much, especially if you're in a hard boss fight and your character goes GLOBGLOBGLOBGLOB while you're getting your ass kicked :story:

Wow. Did anyone see that they added Hijabs, Niqabs, and Burkas to the hair styles? Not sure what patch that was in, but holy cringe.
