Animated uploads might be buggered. Mine is meant to be animated and it shows up animated in the Edit box but not on the forum itself. Even when I upload it here like this.

They animate when you click them, I think it's a thing with the thumbnails generating a static image to save space but loading the actual gif when opened.

Edit: confirmed, saving the thumbnail it is a .avif file that loads the full gif when clicked.

it is not working correctly if it doesn't thumbnail fucking animations mate, that's the point of a thumbnail.

Don't take anything insulting that Null says to you personally in this thread. Think him more of your corporate IT guy with his filter removed when it comes to dealing with tech issues here.

In fact, don't take it personally most of the time. Being called a retarded nigger by Null is almost an endearment. If he dosen't call me a nigger at least once a year I wonder what I'm doing wrong.

FWIW the same non-animating thumbnail issue happened with my momma cat gif, so it's not just a problem with avatars, or with anime. That one got the webp treatment.

I can confirm that it's broken. On dev the issue was fixed but on live imagick is silently failing to basic gd.

Maybe a FAQ in the OP would be helpful, with a little sticky at the top of the thread imploring people to check it before reporting anything? You did put a different commonly reported issue there, and it could also help alleviate the perennial questions about what to do when the reactions break. I think you might be expecting a greater level of technological competence from the average person than actually exists because you worked in the field, I've certainly seen you yell at people for things you claim should be intuitive that really just aren't information people who aren't deeper into tech than normal will naturally run into. People might also be assuming you have access to more information innately than you actually do via webmaster privileges because most people have no frame of reference for what that actually does. It can be your gift to IT departments everywhere.

Videos no longer can be downloaded on my end. Looking at the developer console, they are now M3Us rather than MP4 files, which would make sense.

There's a download option in the context menu but it doesn't do shit. There's supposed to be a fallback URL that I guess would point to the original file but it doesn't seem to be defined hence the button does nothing.

Since when does KF have a dev environment??? Starting to sound like a big fancy tech company around here.

Anyways: old media (unconverted and not yet in the new player) seems to be buffering for extended periods, or failing to load. Example here, it's happening in multiple threads but it's not consistent. Started happening 4-5 hours ago.

(I assume it's an expected part of the migration but reporting just in case.)

If you haven't already fixed it, I've found that using the "view media" option allows me to download videos still, if this helps any.

i have been out of the loop for a while but weren't videos supposed to generate captions now? i can't find the button in the player to enable them on mobile.
