‘Oh by the way, it goes without saying, if we’d done the that joke today, it would have been Trump’

Yeah. No shit Kaiser. It’s called relevence.

Maybe if it hadn’t taken them more than a decade to finish this series they would not need to make such statments.
I remember they talked about early Hellsing episodes and how they regretted the Epic Meal Time joke in episode 2 because it was no longer relevant. And Lani saying Tree of Might was one of his favorite DBZA things because it was so timeless and didn't have references that dated it.

I guess we know which one of them uses references as a crutch.

Yup. Speaking of which I can't wait till they get to their later episodes. Because some of the choices are definitely spur of the moment and/or not timeless and are real bad as a result.

Kaiser was only ever good at editing, when he could actually be bothered to do it.

Even going off the thumbnails, Lani seems to be having fun with it while Kaiser seems to want to just bitch.

My takeaway from this entire thread is that if you ever decide to do a abridged series you need to not do a retelling and just do straight jokes and shitpost

Also the turning point of DBZA was when Kaiser and Taka spent months sperging about trump when he won in 2016 instead of making episodes. The editing for the episodes that came immediately after was a very sharp drop in quality that the comments pointed out.
I Still rememebr the comments on their announcnment that they wouldnt do buu and all the comments talking about how they werent funny anymore and started taking themselves to seriously of course these comments are largely lost to time/ deleted

The issue is that Dragonball and Dragonball Z are at their heart a martial arts comedy series. Dragonball Z went more on the sci-do martial arts, but it still was very comedic. Buu is literally a return to form of it being a comedy. That entire saga is a huge joke where 99.99999% of humanity is killed by a piece of Bubblegum.

Most Abridged Series just mock little things about the setting, moments of bad writing, or inserted late 2000’s internet into them. Team Four Star wanted to “fix” the series when it never needed to. They took it and themselves way to seriously.
They’d never touch the original Dragonball because beyond Bulma being a thot and offering sexual favors for dragon balls, you have shit like calling one of the Red Ribbon Army Generals a faggot. The OG Dragonball is great if you like old Martial Arts movies, the humor is very raunchy at times, but kind of like your younger brother just found out about the hand vagina thing despite never seeing a vagina in his life.

Having watched the rest of Hellsing Ultimate Abridged (mostly because I was bored and didn't really have anything to do) I can safely say that while TFS has fallen off incredibly hard, especially with their abridged series and of the like, I still hold a soft spot for HUA because of the fact that it ages poorly.

Where else can you find references to Epic Meal Time and shit like that?

For me, at least, it's charming and fun. That and Alucard definitely has one of the best voices for a series in general, the perfect mix of charismatic and balls off the walls insane.

If only I could go back to those days.

To me, HUA falls into the issue that it has MCU-styled writing. It wants to be funny and zany (or as funny as it can with them practically taking a few jokes and jackhammering those into the ground), but at the same time have serious moments...which they then ruin by trying to be all jokey about. Seriously, having this scene where Anderson dies and has a heartfelt talk with Alucard and they STILL try to crack jokes during this scene or after it.

I can honestly see that, and it's good criticism that I agree with wholeheartedly. Rip Van Winkle really was wasted potential. If your project gets compared to MCU, chances are you fucked up severely lmao

To be honest, knowing Kaiser, he'd probably consider it an awesome achievement that they're writing is compared to MCU.

Sometimes, i feel like getting to work on abridging the Buu Saga just to spite these faggots. It wouldn't be the only reason, and there's probably people doing it better than i would, but sometimes I wonder how'd it turn out.

It'd help I like the Buu saga, but I'm not blind to it's flaws. But most of all Kaiser is a faggot and i know that it eats him alive if someone shows him up.

Probably the Bojack movie too out of public demand, & st least just to make Kaiser dilate over the fact that the fandom did his job that he rejected, & probably better than him.

God, idiots are never going to not be mad about Trump being President, Christ.
To be fair tons of people rightfully hate him, not every person who bitches about trump as a content creator is automatically a lolcow, it’s sadly just par for the course these days it seems.
