Huh, I didn't know that. I always thought that Hellsing Abridged was Taka's baby, maybe burn out was getting to him? It would explain why TFS wrapped up all three of their major series' (DBAZ, FFVIIMA, and HA) roughly within the same year.

I also remember finding it odd how TFS, who at this point had happily taken the idea of Abridging as being " tell an improved version of the source material, but with a few jokes", seemed to treat The Major's final speech to Integra with so little fan fair, reducing it to a weak "lol, why u a cyborg" joke. Which I was kinda disappointed by as The Major's final speech is probably one of the best villain monologues to have ever been written. Considering how TFS has a habit of at least attempting to treat an arc/ series/ whatever's climax with at least some level of respect, I was kinda disappointed with how phoned in it seemed they handle it.

I dunno, didn't mean to rant about that this much, it's just that this would explain why that scene seemed a bit lack luster when Taka has a known love for the series, maybe Kaiser just didn't have the same level as investment?
One of the issues with TFS is that they seem to be very in your face with stuff they don't like from the source material, and sometimes take themselves too seriously.

HUA was a funny series, not amazing but fun until the fucking god and satan skype call where afterwards it took itself too seriously while mocking the stuff that Kaiser disliked from the source material without any good jokes.

I swear all that was missing was just an animated version of Kaiser stepping and going "SEE?! SEE THIS SHIT?! THIS IS RETARDED RIGHT HERE! ITS FUCKING DUMB AND STUPID! MY WRITING MADE THIS STUFF WAY BETTER! DONT YOU UNDERSTAND MY GENIUS?!"

I don't know how anyone went with FF7A till the end. It was just a lot of shouting.
I'm also sick of girlbosses in abridging (though considering the subgenre is dead, so does everyone else)

I wouldn’t say that? SAO Abridged came out letter, but outside of that, I can’t think of something on their scale since their peak.
I just dickrided them admittedly but I think Mouthwash's Bleach and Fate Abridged series are also pretty big. It helps that the people behind them actually appreciate the source material unlike Kaiser with Dragon Ball and Hellsing

I'd say also the Goblin Slayer abridged is fairly decent, though like the actual series it suffers that Goblin Slayer himself isn't interesting.

Stupid question, but did tfs kill abridging?
Yes

1) Their increasing high production values (voice acting, editing) killed off the amateur vibe that started the genre off with Yugioh abridged and the wave of imitations. It isn't enough anymore to have a good sense of humor and passion for the original work.

2) The cancerous fanbase of DBZA preaching that it is better than the original work ruined abridging as a parody (also from YGOA) and encourages these works to just be video fanfiction fix-fics.

3) The copyright legal conflict of abridging seen by TFS isn't worth the trouble for anyone else so Joe Average gets bullied out when they get the first strike.

4) YouTube in general is a terrible career path demanding a lot of pressure to keep producing more content in order to make a living. Even people with 5-digit subs and years of effort will wash out. And those that become famous for abridging burn out into complete losers. See TFS attempts to break into voice acting and their original works. Or Little Kuriboh's existence today.

I'd say it's not just DBZA, the same happened with HUA as their fan preach how that trainwreck trumps the original.

What the fuck did you just say? Somebody out there on this fucking planet thinks the skype call was better than the original ending? That person doesn't deserve the right to internet.

I don’t entirely agree, I think comparatively HUA Is a pretty damn brilliant and consistent series until perhaps the final 2 episodes, maybe because Tahata doesn’t have as many bullshit political hang ups then the main 3 TFS members. It felt more like it was his more his creation and had a distinct flavour compared to DBZA abridged. It might be my personal bias and perhaps because the source material is much darker but it’s a much more consistent series than their others. Maybe because they didn’t fear going woke because the sheer amount of violence and sex in the original anime meant they had to focus on dark humour and clever writing rather than adding sex jokes and edgy shit to the Dragonball series.

Well I do agree HUA was actually pretty good, it just went downhill the moment Alucard has his God skype talk and the final 2 episodes were just not really good. It felt like an entirely different person writing it.

I mean, that's what I usually saw from TFS fans, them going about how the actual series sucked and HUA is much better.

Tell that to Tahata later going on Tumblr and apologizing for making Rip an SJW

Pretty sure that was Kaiser.

Yeah they talk about how Alucard using therapy to kill the souls is much deeper and a sign of "character development"
Kinda explains how these chaps don't really get the idea behind character development, especially if they see it as couch-level 'shrink" shit.

Pretty sure that was Kaiser.
Huh, I could have sworn it was Tahata. Also, what were you trying to do is be funny and entertaining, you brainless twat.

Naw, you know what worked better than therapy'ing all of the souls? Alucard having to regain a sense of self amidst a sea of millions, and having to personally kill every single one again, reinforcing that he's not a hero, but a fucking monster and the Major was probably right about wanting to kill him. But what the fuck do I know?

Not to mention it's putting those souls out of their misery. Like the original had a perfectly fine ending but nah basic armchair therapy is so good
