Best class(es) to play as?

My problem with Pyro isn't his secondaries, its that every other combat class in the game actively encourages you to learn to aim and track effectively besides him. Literally every other combat class, you could debatably say the same thing about Heavy but at least he requires his user to know how to lock on to and track enemies to maximize damage. Playing Pyro does not encourage such a process, you look at the enemy, run forward, press m1 and strafe around them until they're dead. TF2 is a game that encourages you to track and aim good in order to be a better contributor to your team, Soldier's rockets do more damage when they hit directly, Sniper does more damage when he hits headshots, etc. Pyro encourages the complete opposite, your most basic form of attack is also your most effective. Soldier's dont do more damage when they get splash damage, Snipers don't do more damage when they get bodyshots, so why should Pyro?
Because his main gimmick is to set his opponents on fire and let the afterburn eat away at their health. I would argue that Pyro encourages the same method of attack as the Heavy's but at a shorter range. The afterburn is nice, but there are several methods that counter it (Jarate, Mann Milk, health packs, etc), so by making your flamethrower's flames stay on your target for as long as possible you can put your opponent in a position where you either kill them directly or they escape and futility try to heal themselves as they die from the afterburn.

I agree that Pyro's primary gimmick is afterburn but I just feel as though he shouldn't be allowed to deliver such punishing damage through such a simplistic means of attack. I know one of the updates redesigned the afterburn system where the longer the enemy is in direct contact with Pyro's flame the longer the afterburn effect is, but for the life of me I just dont notice any different before and after that update. All afterburn for me seems to last 10 seconds at minimum regardless of the duration I'm in direct contact with the flamethrower.

Is there any old things people miss about TF2?
1) I miss when the Targe made you virtually immune to Pyros.
2) I also miss when the Loch could delete Scouts with a single pill.
3) The insane knockback of the Loose Cannon was fun too, though I don't miss it as much since knocking people around is mostly for shits and giggles.
4) Sandman stuns are also another thing I miss. I don't get why everyone seemed to be upset over that throughout all the time it had the effect. Just dodge the ball for fucks sake.
5) Updates
6) And lastly I miss when the Dead Ringer wasn't around.

I miss any time before the Meat Your Match update, really. All I want to do is jump into a fun, random match in a dedicated server, play around to my heart's content, and then fuck off. And if I want to I can go to a trade or fun server and dick around in other ways. I don't want to be forced to stay until a match is complete or get penalized by wait times or whatever.

I think TF2's attempt to compete with Overwatch by pandering to comp faggots was a fatal attempt at something that was fundamentally against what TF2 is really all about. Just fucking around and having fun. Can't have that with this stiff, structured competitive system shitting things up.

I honestly don't think a competitive mode was a serious issue. Comp teams were doing fine with their own dedicated servers i.e MGE, skirmish, invite only matches. The only comp faggots that were bitching about a comp mode were players that thought casual was too easy instead of looking for what they wanted in terms of their skill level.

really autistic of me, but I miss the old crafting interface from like 2010 where you had to actually look through your inventory for the items you wanted to craft together, oddly nostalgic.

scream fortress is on now. more contracts and more cosmetics.

what i like about scream fortress are the player destruction maps. it's a pretty good gamemode. valve should let the community make more instead of keeping us to just watergate and the halloween maps.

i also like playing on ghost fort. one of the reasons is listening to other players joke about and other complain about merasmus. the more you beat him, the more often he shows up and prolongs the match. with players saying "how many time do we need to teach you this lesson old man!?"

the update has some cool looking cosmetics. the seared sorcerer for the pyro is one of my favorites. it looks based off the black mage from final fantasy

the fire tooth for the pyro is also cool. its based off sweet tooth from twisted metal.

New maps. Megalo and Moldergrove are king of the hill, and bloodwater and Hassle Castle are payload.

happy hunting!

Is TF2 safe to play? I haven't paid it much mind since that hack a while ago.

The Halloween events are fun because I can run around with all my OG shit and children inundate me with laughable trade requests.
Valve put out a statement saying there wasn't any danger to users created from the leak. The script kiddies are still around though.

Shut up and be my boyfriend.

Everyone hates stuns.

In more detail, the initial version of the Sandman was really strong, really easy, and even stopped Ubered enemies. It's been nerfed many times, but it took a while before it got anywhere close to being reasonable.

Fully expecting islamic content ratings for this but I honestly really miss the old DR when it was super broken and gave 90% damage reduction. Shutting down bad spies who still couldn't win with it on valve servers was superfun and it generated oceans of salt and gave me a reason to play axtinguisher pyro.

I also miss the custom maps. There don't seem to be anywhere near as many around as there used to be. I'm not talking the quality stuff you see on gamebanana or other mod sites where people have put actual effort in, I'm talking about the specific terrible sort that are made by teenagers for their custom servers with unsealed worlds, broken lighting and stock/dummy textures everywhere. A server I used to frequent ran terrible map tuesday where they'd run the worst things they could find for a couple hours a week and it was a fucking blast seeing 20+ people try to play a serious game of ctf on a gigantic low-poly recreation of goatse or mandrillmaze.

Also I miss the Soldier being alive. :(

I blame retarded youtubers. Uncle Dane and FUNKe tried pushing the comp shit hard and their legion of fanboys listened. I don’t get how games like csgo/TF2 got communities that killed server browsers.

Uncle Dane fans are horrible. I used to shitpost in his discord in the #tf2 channel, so many of them think they’re hot shit and have the only opinion that matters. They are all the type of people that think “what the community says doesn’t matter, balance around comp” and are just total elitist faggots towards free to plays, absolute anti-fun scumbags. I really don’t get why people think what youtubers have to say should be treated like gospel.

the scream fortress cases are ass this year lmao. 14 of the new cosmetics are garbage all-class hats.

I never liked any youtuber they always used their dumb class mains as class avatars. I mean shit Funkee dropped TF2 after he kept pushing the competitive shit so hard and hes not some regular ass "OMG THIS GAME IS SO DEEP" youtuber.

I frankly cant blame valve this loud minority for some reason rather kill the server browser and casual gaming for dumbass comp shit. Same thing happened with CSGO this might be a controversial take but maybe normies really do prefer match making and these companies listen to these retarded demands

Because they are NPCs who need to be told the "correct" opinions that they can parrot endlessly. They have no drive to figure things out for themselves.
