Regardless of how shitty current year seasonal event maps/cosmetics are, it's always cozy going back to the good backlog of christmas/halloween maps each year. 1 months of spells, micspamming halloween music/movies and 1 month of winter maps, randoms micspamming christmas music/movies is always kino. That's something the trannies can't take away from me.

Christmas and Halloween in general seem like they're immune to being pozzed unlike the other holidays.
I agree, there nothing is better than to spell spam on Carnival of Carnage with meteor shower's when merasmus is about to summon a spell.
 
I honestly hope we don't get any new maps this year. I just want to see spells addedto the contracts to hose the traders.

Traders are some of the worst people who play this game, I think society would improve drastically if all their inventories were worth nothing.

I have to admit, it genuinely was a fun thing to waste time doing when I was a retarded little kid. Being a fucking kike and sharking people, getting sharked, doing literally nothing in a server for several hours to make less than half a dollar of profit was all pretty cool.
The people that never grew out of it and still somehow fucking take it serious to this day should just get the rope, though.

They pretty much are worth nothing. Even in TF2s heyday the economy was overshadowed by any other Valve game with a trading scene, and today I don't think anyone outside of their little bubble gives a fuck.

Not even close to true. Tf2 items are at their highest prices ever due to dwindling supply. Trader mains have been hoarding the rare stuff for years now. Strange Gunslingers are up to $500 a piece. Originals $400.

Seems that way from looking at the market, I assumed there'd be no way that shit could still have a pulse with how the rest of the game is doing.

The total volume is probably shrinking. There are less trades going on now than in the hayday, that's for sure. Akin to the housing market. High prices, low volume, bigger divide between have and have-nots.

Yas sarr, my strange items are $500 dollars and even originals are at least $300 sarr. Do they cost more than your minimum wage paycheck, yas sarr. Do I care? Of course not sarr.

This is just my guess at what the first bit of the censored part of the recent announcement reads:

"Valve has asked us to [I don't know, likely rename or rebrand?], due to concerns that the name Team Fortress 2 Classic is too similar to Team Fortress Classic. We're inclined to agree"

Maybe they're going to finally take the fucking hint and rebrand the mod.

TF2C is already a pretty bad name anyways.

Pre-Fortress 2 is basically way, way closer to the ACUTAL team fortress classic moniker, and any notion of Classic being attributed to emulating 2008 TF2 like their website says also went out the window the moment they started adding extra stuff that wasn't even from the original game like an SSG for the Pyro or the brick for Scout. At best the most interesting contribution was the original run of new guns which don't even really compare to the achievement weapons they're replacing, 4 team which is gimmick mode and the gun-boats for Demo. Sorry but I need my Eyelander and FaN, non-negotiable.

If I had any say-so or source knowledge, I'd make one source mod for 2007-2010 era TF2 (stock and achievement items only, pre-store era) and an expanded source mod for solely MVM.

Yeah it's definitely Valve pushing for the name change as the SDK guidelines for mods have been updated to include info on what are considered good/bad mod names:

So this means the CS: Legacy might come out if they just change the name.

Edit: Who am i kidding. The site for CS Legacy is gone. No new news on them either. So they fully gave up. Fucking sucks

Calling it now all of these tf2 sourcemods that are coming to steam will be dead within a year aside from maybe tf2c or whatever name they call it now. the player count of tf2 is simply not that large to begin with and the people who are interested in mods are probably even smaller part of the playerbase.

Look at the player traffic info on Steam for a lot of older Source engine multi-player mods for other games. The traffic is usually under 100 players, but it will peak during updates to the game. This is what will happen with TF2 mods. There's already how many of them on the store, plus however many else that aren't on the store yet. They'll be fighting over player traffic and as a result, they'll all be dead.
 
I'm just excited for an official release of lambda fortress (co op mercs through the hl2 campaign) since I can just play that single player
 
This weapon is good solely for being used with the gunboats to have almost no damage rocket jumping, while still outputting damage. If you use it that way to close the gap between you and the enemy, it's perfectly fine. Never understood the hate for it.
It gets hate because it's not stock and stock + gunboats already does the "I want to jump a lot and deal damage" thing well. The liberty launcher is just that but with less damage so it doesn't do anything much better than other launchers which all have their own niche, even if it's just memeing.

A small buff to the liberty launcher and a gunboats nerf would probably tip things in its favour or at least make it a more meaningful sidegrade.
