I don't mind any weapon that lets me shit on snipers and spies. They're nigger classes played only by niggers. I WILL torture you to death with the scorch shot and there is fucking nothing you can do about it. I WILL pop the radio banner and laugh as your epic quickscopes end up doing 30 damage while we run you over.
 
I just miss the point where afterburn was actually a legitimately threatening thing that needed to be dealt with instead of instant extinguishing from so many sources.
Not only this but afterburn used to always last like 8 seconds, no matter how long you've been eating flames for.

NGL one of the only good balance changes to come out of JI, I'll never get over how they completely massacred airblast. Removing all air control like you're playing Portal 2 is so awful & unfun to experience, especially when ubered. Good luck if you get airblasted near a death pit lol.
 
The original class update weapons feel like natural additions to each class and they give a feeling of weapons the devs wanted to add to the release game but didn't have time or inclination to polish up, opting for post release updates to introduce them.

The kritzkrieg, flare gun, and the force of nature in particular feel very natural and an extension of what that core class is about.

The class update weapons are very nice and along with the stock weapons illustrate a very important aspect of tf2: the weapons aesthetically and mechanically are still basically guns.

The stock weapons, barring fantasy science tech like the medigun, are all real world guns and except for mechanical realism (muzzle loading four shot RPG for example) they still shoot bullets or fire explosives. They aren't fantastical Saturday morning pew pew cartoon weapons.
They're guns. Abstractions of real world guns but still just guns.
 
I'm just mad I'll never get an experience like vanilla TF2 ever again, back before the extra weapons per class.

The moment they gave Pyro a flare gun and Demoman a sword it was over as both completely defeat the purpose of the class they're supposed to be. I'm not even talking about this from a competitive point of view, the original weaponsets were the most fun and balanced you could get. The moment they started enhancing classes was the moment it all fell apart because now you have to enhance other classes to counter it and so on.
Yeah Pyro was so much better when he was the worst class in the game that had literally no use case except brainlessly checking for spies because besides not having the flare gun he also didn't have his airblast before the Pyro update.

That would be a good argument if both of these nigger classes didn't have 2 weapons that counters pyro lol (Darwin shield, jarate, soycicle, dead ringer). I actually think that scorch shit is a noobtrap weapon, because you think you do a lot of damage, but in practice - it deals only 30 damage by itself, and getting extinguished is really easy. You would be more deadly with a flare gun.

Airblast was awful before JI. It felt weird. You didn't actually get launched away from the Pyro; it just kind of "popped you up" in such a way you couldn't strafe.

JI took a bit dookie on the game for many reasons, but the stock Flamethrower rework wasn't one of them.

On the other hand, with the old Axtinguisher that crit in every situation you didn't even need to use the flamethrower that much outside of airblasts. Go around the map, pop people up and melt them. Completely broken shit on cramped maps like Dustbowl.

Hot take, I never had a problem with the old Axtinguisher. It made Pyro fierce at fierce at close range, which he should be. Considering the frequency of random melee crits even without a combo, and that the bushwacka exists, I'm honestly surprised anyone had a problem with it.

I still contend that old airblast and degreaser made the otherwise fine axtinguisher seem op.

If the axt went back to og full crit stats I wouldn't complain

Sounds like you're just shit. Scorch shot is used for knockback and splash (also destroys stickies better than any other pyro secondary), not raw damage. If the sniper equips the croco shield just to deal with you, then you've already won. He's now completely helpless against anything else that gets close. And let's be honest, no sniper is going to give up his secondary slot to counter a class barely anyone plays. The backpack thing that reduces flinching and gives health regen is more useful than that awful thing.
I don't get where the spycicle and dead nigger hype comes from. Flamethrower has good reach. It still makes sizzling sounds when you hit the spy, not to mention the pain sounds/responses of the spy himself. Are most people deaf, maybe playing with the audio muted or something? I know there's like a tryhard autist hud modification that shows you closed captions of sounds made by enemies, lmao. Use your fucking ears. :story:

Don't know why would you call someone shitting on scorch shot shit but ok. I forgot that it could destroy stickies, but it doesn't lift that weapon that much, I usually deal with scorch shitters more easily as any class, because they running with this thing always equipped, so you can catch them and kill before they switch to flamethrower. The point with dead ringer and spycicle is that you can lure away from flames if you have good movement, it's not always work, but it can save you from death.
