edit: I know its a cope but I am so fucking desperate for something from Valve that I have my hopes up
 
The prose and humor in that blogpost are absolutely disgusting. Old TF2 posts were full of sharp and witty humor, but this reads like it was written by some recent PR graduate trying (and failing) to emulate the older style.

Even an attempt at being witty at this point is still appreciated. I can't imagine a lot of the old team are there anymore. At least they're finally attempting to properly ship something instead of letting the game run dormant. I have hope, even if it's slim.

If by "properly ship something" you mean "have the community do all the work for you", then yeah, sure.
The blogpost is even bossing the community around, as a "cute joke". It's disgusting.
Meanwhile, the bot problem still has not be solved. There is no indication it's even being worked on.

I'm sorry for coming off so angry and cynical, but Valve have absolutely spent every last bit of good will I had for them as a company. This community update is something, yes, but it's not the sort of thing that Valve should be doing to right the TF2 ship.

Antoine did not troon out, however he did transition from making HL2/TF2 content to making his own unique content. He is French and an animation graduate after all, meaning that he will want to express more creativity by making everything by himself, and establishing his own characters and such.

So do not expect him to do anything like Heavy is Dead or Gorgeous Freeman anymore, as he's distancing himself from this kind of content now.

So... The "big upcoming update" everybody is going bananas over is just another community-made update. Just like every other update the past years. Sorry to be pessimistic but just because we get a half-hearted blog post saying "You know the shit we've shoveling into your mouth? You're getting more nigga open wide!!!" doesn't really fill me any excitement. It just sounds like more of the same, except this time there is a blog post attached to it trying to be "funny" like classic tf2 while mentioning goddamn tiktok.
No thanks. Lemme know when bots and cheating faggots are gone.

I'm not excited. Not because I dislike the idea of another community update (that's been basically every update since 2012) but because this will probably be the "sunsetting" update. Valve knows they can only keep the game chugging for so long even if it still has a lively trading scene & makes community market bucks. This smells like what they did for Left4Dead. If TF2 is formally concluded it will truly be the end of an entire era of online games.

The Invasion and End of the Line updates was an attempt by Valve to pass development off to the community, this is another attempt.
