Surprised they haven't disabled navigation meshes in casual yet. As far as I'm aware, those are what bots use for their pathfinding, and without them they're unable to move.

TF2bers were so quick to hop on the "bots are fixed" train to get some AdSense bux. How foolish to mislead the community like that. The only thing that happened was that the signatures were misaligned on Cathook because Valve changed something. This is what will happen every time the game's codebase is updated. That's how cheats work. But one commit to the Cathook repo later and the bots are online again. Anyways, my guess is that Valve probably didn't actually do anything security-wise to hinder bots.

best i could get from a archived thred

killing linux logging would curb botting however, they'd need to be setup via window's terrible systems, it's terrible enough to cause a tranny to commit 41% even if your computer has enough ram to handle it, linux is much lighter when dealing with these things.
and pcgamer is trying to get clicks by doing thesame shit as the youtubers.

Cathook uses user-made navmeshes, thats why bots always went to the same spot on harvest, for example.

Cathook uses signatures to determine offsets, unlike directly pointing to offsets like shown here. This is basically done by inputting bits that dont change and « ?? » where they do. This helps to reduce the amount of times signatures have to be changed to only when something is drastically changed. Most modern cheats use signatures to not have to update the cheat every time there is a game update

and no, bots are still not fixed.
They were « fixed » for exactly 46 minutes before defcon6 and co. literally just yanked these signatures as a temporary niggerrig

Man, the memories I have from this game. All those late nights staying up, playing with your friends on that specific server where everyone knew each other, watching your favorite TF2tubers and learning new strategies, maps and eagerly waiting for new updates. Good times.

It was nice playing when younger, but seeing all that yiff, furry shit, porn, anime and hentai in everyone's spray tags and custom servers probably didn't help growing up. But I don't care TF2, I still love you.

Those servers have been pretty much squeezed out by server networks like EU Studs, Skial and similar

That's not the worst offender - toxicity in the tf2 community has skyrocketed due to multitude of reasons (Youtubers leaving for overwatch, valve practically abandoning the game, catbots), which produced plethora of services targeted for toxic people, for example tacobot, which is basically a blacklist made by seasoned mvm players that are mad at people that don't comform to the meta/don't exactly sweat all the time in the game.

But I don't care TF2, I still love you.
Sadly TF2 won't be what it is now. All the fun was sucked out of it at all sides, leaving only a husk of itself.
I love 2012-2016 TF2, but it all only went downhill right after.

I stopped playing actively around 2016, but there had been some missteps before that. Everyone joked about the Love & War update and group taunts like Conga ruining the game, but boy there was so much worse coming up later. I still enjoy occasionally picking the game up, playing for a few dozen hours before leaving to collect dust in my Steam library. Every time I play it again I'm surprised how the game still functions like it used to before, even after all those updates, maps, modes and items.
