Man, this year's summer update was dog shit. I only played one map fully (which was that one KOTH map) and never tried out any of the other maps after having the displeasure of attempting to play Aquarius.
I would say that modern TF2 "map designers" focus more on aesthetics over form, but even from an aesthetic standpoint Aquarius is just not a good looking map.
 
i played enough on castaway to know that the lolifaggs are the loud minority,most regulars are just chuds or normal peep,the problem is that the lolifaggs are backing one another and random (the creator) is not doing shit, because technically it's not a crime since they are not real or some stupid shit like that, rn a lot of the normal regulars left or refuse to play rn.


and the gabber clip is taken out of context, he was mocking a now groomed weabo for recomending some dogshit anime,he is still a bitch nontheless

The DDOS thing predates and has already been solved before your video, really we already got DOS'd by some clown who got banned from the server for cheating back in 2024. It's just a security issue that every server of notable size has to deal with. Every server has to deal with cheaters, and cheaters are nothing but script kiddies, bothosting and ddosing are also commonplace and easily performed via scripts, and if a loser is willing to cheat he's willing to try to shut down the server if he's dumb enough to pay for scripts that do it for him. Any server worth it's salt needs to be ready to fight these animals, and that's exactly what we did.

So, calling Castaway an "unmoderated server" isn't entirely accurate. There's plenty of moderation, it's just that 99% of players never have to deal or worry about it. We have hundreds of bans on the server. We just moderate the things that actually need moderating. Cheaters, bots and snakes that try to sabotage the server and ruin the experience for our community were, are and will continue being thrown out on their ass. We don't feel the need to infringe on people's freedom to play and speak how they want, which is why we don't have a dozen pages of rules that you have to study through when you just want to play the game and talk some shit like Robin Walker (pbuh) intended, but we will not hesitate to eliminate the sad freakshows and losers who cheat, grief or try to abuse the liberties that the server provides in an attempt to damage it.

We mock and will continue to mock the draconian hellhole servers that ban people for breathing the wrong way, but total anarchy is just as laughable a concept, unless you want to end up playing hvh with actual chomos.

We moderate - in moderation.

Lolicons affect the communities just like the troons; they are an open perverts that will infest a community until it will be no longer about anything but their fetish. I completely agree, when these faggs join the mood gets ruined most of the time, the moderation doesn't consider them an issue, i got info from somebody who plays in the Asia servers, the grooming there has gotten so bad. The ericaftereric (groomers) people run the server and openly talk about gay shit in chat and even though they make up half the server they're in a private VC. Either to scared to mic up ingame or worse talking about shit thats probably straight up grooming. Theres like 2 minors in there for sure.

It's always been a magnet for the mentally ill and extremely autistic since 2007. Remember all the furry servers? Or the porn sprays? Or half the playerbase being bronies? Or all the tumblr users? Now they've all been replaced by washed out millennials and groomed zoomers. Waiting for that promised Heavy update as they turn the shuffling corpse of a game into a cargo cult and treat every community server as their personal venting space. Instead of joining a server and seeing people in the chat arguing about the ethics of cooming to furry or MLP porn, it's watching an autistic troon crying about their personal life or someone saying nigger.
 
I hate that we live in this world of extremes where I have to choose between dealing with servers where there's excess moderation so I can't say "nigger, faggot, or tranny" but theres no porn/loli or servers that are full on "free speech absolutist" and let me say whatever I want but I have to keep sprays/decals disabled at all times.

Hopefully someone can eventually fill in the void and these fuckers learn to leave kids alone or they get spooked when one of them inevitably gets sent to prison.

Edit: I'd also like to reinforce that TF2 has always been full of weirdos.

The server I used to frequent back in 2013 had a rivalry with a furry/brony mlp server whose head admin was a furry who had a steam profile that said he could "make you question your sexuality easily and make you accept mindblowing things ;)."

We'd also get players named "rainbow dash, twilight sparkle, pinkie pie, applejack, etc" joining our server. You'd see 5-10 of these fuckers joining every other day, it was so common. Nowadays, its anime avatars, transflags, and (she/her) fucking everywhere. These people never left.

There was probably a fuck ton of grooming going on even without discord tbh.
