yeah meltdown is over. far as I can tell, staff wanted a certain fast moving discussion that I can't be fucked to identify to migrate to #general and some of the retards in chat took that as censorship, and thus, tard rage ensued.

for what i've gathered the subsequent happened in the feedback channel
  1. something happened and the jannies locked the channel, there should be a statement that says "this channel will be locked until y'all learn to behave (and morale improves)"
  2. then they unlocked it but put a slowmode with a 6hr delay
  3. and then lots of fighting or something before supposedly ending in a wet fart
e: nevertheless this is just the 4th day of this mod being officially released, i'd be impressed if it all goes down in flames by the end of this month

Big-ass image in spoiler:

There's more before the idea guy comment. It was mostly that discussion (that Yooper (who may be Richter) spurred on with his voice message) about Pyro's personality. I guess that conversation was moving so fast and making the channel unreadable. So they locked the channel down before doing the 6hr cooldown before removing the cooldown. Some people are still affected by the cooldown because they had one active when it was removed from the channel.

What is the point of these types of videos? How are they still pumping out video essays on topics that have been discussed to death ad nauseam for years? It's not even like they're demanding changes or anything, it's just the same nauseating autistic rambling over and over. What else is there left to say about this game other than it's fucking broken?
The bad weapon bracket video is particularly egregious because it adds fucking nothing to the conversation. I feel like I’ve seen a million discussions about “what are the worst weapons in tf2”?, and they all come to the exact same conclusions, which is that the weapons suck and they aren’t worth using outside of very specific scenarios you’ll almost never encounter in game.

User pikachufrankie appears to have been banned from the GR discord after the #feedback drama.

His messages in #feedback were critical of the game, so it's very possible this is true and he was indeed banned. It also seems like he may have played a large part in #feedback being locked down, though I haven't fully confirmed this yet. Literally 1984.

Edit: Try doing a search in the GR discord for "from:richterovertime has:sound". He frequently replies to people, usually in #feedback or #offtopic, using voice recording snippets he records on the fly.

i can answer that part since i heard it from the horse himself
short and long of it was after this entire talk

for the aftermath there's a lot of discontent growing up, the situation is starting to become indefensible and bigger names might become hostile to the entire mod team over their behavior
in just five days they've killed off any and all momentum they could've had and most likely have turned it against themselves, the absolute skill

Yet their store page description states, verbatim, “You can think of Gold Rush as a purist effort to preserve an earlier vision of TF2”. A 1 to 1 experience is all that people were asking for, not a mod that skinwalks 2010 with built-in 6s banlists and rebalancing.

What is the point of these types of videos?
It’s remarkable that the only bit of valuable information around that Cow Mangler video is a comment mentioning how it has a slight launch deviation. I never realized why I like the feel of jumping with it better than anything but the Direct Hit until I’d read that, and yet this obscure bit of trivia isn’t even in the video itself.

Money. People still watch these videos everytime because the community is so starved for content. Money is also why these videos are conveniently over 15-30 minutes long when they should be 2-5 minutes. Gotta get that sweet ad revenue.

I know we've been shitting on Richter, but he did have a great quote about this. "You are 3 weapon review videos away from making minimum wage as a TF2uber."

Holy shit.
I think there might actually be something shady going on with this toxic positivity thing, the r/tf2 jannies prohibited talking about the recent comeback of bots as a way to "not give them attention"(LOL) and "not clog the subreddit"(because the 6 million wholesome clips of someone using the thanks voiceline and killbinding are a better use of the forum)

I recently decided to do a little experiment where I imagined myself someone who never played TF2 trying to check out the game before I play it, leading me to the realization that TF2's image is extremely sanitized to the outsiders.
At first I thought it was just because the only person who actually criticizes the game is Zesty - the shunned bigot hitler, but reading this post I'm seriously starting to suspect there's actually some secret cabal out there trying to make TF2 look healthy, with money definitely involved.

This also reminds me of that time when they banned the discussion of zesty's "you will not play" video.

What do you think?

Most of the online "community" around tf2 twitter, discord, reddit don't actually play the game so why would they want to hear about bots in casual?

That's definitely the case. Worksloppers make A LOT of money and especially the ones at the top. They will protect their income through shady means even if it's slandering people or having backdoor deals. That's partly why Zesty is so slandered for example. From what I've heard new workshop creators are basically funelled into specific discord servers and being bossed around by the big fish. If you don't have good relations with them your chances of getting anything in the game are slim.

At one point when CS2 was still called CS:GO there's been bots spamming negative ratings on other creators' maps. Those sort of tactics are what you can expect from worksloppers in TF2.
