Difference is: people actually like The Black Album and it is, to date, the only True Metal album to go Double Diamond.

People who complain about Taylor Swift being boring "basic bitch white people shit" can move to a non-white country if they hate white people music so much. Not every album has to be Antichrist Superstar, you know. Pretty pissed off that white people are not allowed to be white anymore.
 
The thing that really fascinates me about T swizzle is just how much her lyrical ability or whatever you want to call it has degraded. Like it was never amazing to begin with, but it was serviceable for the kind of music she made.

Now she's supposed to be this "dark tortured soul" but it's weird stream of consciousness stuff almost. The kind of stuff you wrote when you were 14, thinking it was super brooding and deep.
 
I will admit that before starting, I did not listen to tortured poets because from the get-go it sounded shit, and I was correct with that judgement. Even when Showgirl got announced, I had red flags mixed with optimism. Firstly, because it is too soon after such a flop and the premise that she recorded it whilst doing the Eras Tour sounds like quality has been overlooked. The optimist in me. was like "cool, an album that is the same vibe as Bejeweled, nice." Bejeweled was one of the more catchy songs on Midnights, but it was poppy, with a good lyrical structure. Very quintessential Taylor.

Well, looks like we aren't allowed nice things because Showgirl was a musical abomination. So first of all, the music is not awful; it's the lyrics. I like the backing tracks to most of the songs. Cancelled has a pre-interlude sound; it sounds like a villain song, but the lyrics are just awful. Wood sounds very similar to Jackson 5 - Bring it back, not something I expected, but still different. Ophelia is catchy, but has an incredible music video. Whoever edited and set designed that video needs an award because it was a joy to watch. The attempt at Sabrina Carpenter double entendre was not done well because Taylor is not the type of person.

I do thank you, though, Tay. I went back and listened to Short n' Sweet by Sabrina Carpenter, and that album was a banger.
 
Her music and style is perpetually 2012. Forever.

It's actually eerie how every song sounds almost like the last one and her hair and makeup is exactly the same as it was 14 years ago only she's getting older.

I don't even have a proper words to describe why this is eerie to me. It's a bit like a vacant doll. She's added some "woke" since 2019 or so to stay current but that too seems like a ruse.

Her song fate of Ophelia sounds like today was a fairy tale from years and years ago only with a slowed down tempo. Many of the songs are a continuation of eachother. Versatility just isn't there.
