They’re… fine. It’s very hard to follow the last season when you had four amazing contestants, with one amazingly bad one.

That was the season before too with the retarded chick, who decided to make her own mental illness everybody else's problem.

For all noise about Jason being dangerous last season; they have already broken more of the house and put themselves in more danger in one episode than Jason did over 10. The in studio task was madness, the two women knocked into each other, the old Indian gentleman almost walked off the stage several times.

Thought that was a pretty great first episode. I like Masie Adam a lot from 8OO10CDC already, but it's great to see how genuinely awkward she is doing "normal" shit. Reece seems to be doing really well, hard not to compare him to Steve Pemberton, but Reece is the much better contestant - quicker and just funnier. Hadn't seen the guy (who seems to be just channeling Alexei Sayle) or the young redhead (who looked utterly stunned to silence when they bagged on her...which was great). And I'm watching the new season of Unforgotten, so it's a hilarious juxtaposition of the old Indian guy- being somber and dead serious in one show, and then unable to roll a bike tire here.

Greg and Alex seem engaged again, I don't know what they did to turn it around last season but I hope they stay this way, since they seem to be enjoying it again.

I know her more from mock the week. I think she has only done one or two episodes of 8OO10CDC, right?
Yeah she was never a regular or anything, got to be a few more than once or twice though. She's done all the panel shows, QI and the year end question show with Jimmy Carr.

And I'm watching the new season of Unforgotten,
Going on an aside but I always found Unforgotten to be really funny because the setup of every episode was them going up to someone involved in the cold case, very normally asking "did you know that guy/girl?" and then you get a very quick flashback montage showing stuff that wouldn't look out of place in that one Event Horizon scene and cuts to the person being asked sweating profusely, eyes bulging out and everything and then they go "no" and that gets repeated like five times across the characters of that season's cold case.

Funny how clearly Greg didn't care for the hijabi's "I'm your wife" gag from last season but he seemed to enjoy Ania's daughter bit. Also Sanjeev doesn't seem that interested in winning which can sometimes be grating in contestants (like again the hijabi not even participating in tasks) but I don't mind it for now.

Fatimah's simply a fat, unfunny, and lazy fucker. Sanjeev is just like Jo Brand, they're just too old to want to try that hard but at least, they have their moments and have not resorted to making up an almost sob story to take all the humor out of the room and win a prize task.

I expected Reece to be angrier and more animated than his longtime partner Steve Pemberton and I have not been let down so far

That is kinda the current (or maybe former, haven't started Series 20 yet) diversity casting on Taskmaster. It started in Series 14 with "my-entire-personality-is-having-autism" Fern Brady (something she had to shop for for years) and continued with contestants like Mae Martin and Rosie Jones and culminated in the fat quota hijabi last Season. Who didn't even do all tasks (despite Alex saying in several interviews how important it is that contestants have to do their best, no matter the result).

Fern wasn't even that bad in the edit. Taskmaster usually made even the most insufferable and unfunny comedians* look good, but I think the retard and the hajib broke the editor's will to live.

*I'm using this term generously. There's a lot of contestants who seem to be more "professional panel show guest" than "comedian." Rhod Gilbert is funny, though.

The editors try to keep everyone likeable, back in series 15 Kiell called out the editors on one task for making him not look like an asshole.

In the current series, I keep getting 'old man Johnny Cash' vibes from Sanjeev. It might be a small reason why I am liking him

Masie and Reece should have their own show. Episode 3 was pretty damn hilarious. The twins thing was one of the toughest tasks I've seen in a while. And funniest. Reece asking "Is your name mentioned in Mambo No 5" is fucking classic.

All-time banger, I swear to god. Every segment has something amazing happening, hilarious from both contestant and production. I don't want this to be a youtube comment that repeats the easy stuff, but I do want to point out Sanjeev's Blackstar t-shirt and Phil's Ninth Doctor cosplay (joke btw, i know he's not actually cosplaying the Doctor. but he's bald and has a leather jacket!).

I loved this episode, I'm amazed this show can make me laugh this much in its twentieth season.

There's really no bad contestant this series which is a breath of fresh air from Hijabi Chantal last series. Reece is playing the grumpy old man archetype very well (not irritating), Maisie is fucking weird and her brain need to be studied (who uses Mambo No. 5 and Who Wants to Be a Millionaire to narrow down names and numbers?), Sanjeev is a more quick-witted and less lazy version of Jo Brand, Phil is supposed to be the 'solid white man who wins the series' type but he keeps fucking up and taking it in good humor, and it feels like Ania's holding back on the zoomer humor because of the demographics of the people on the show but she has her moments.
