I have to say it. I didn't like this episode of MLP. The relationship between Pinky pie and Rainbow dash feels contrived unlike the relationship between Sorin, Brayburn, and big Mac. As the episode was featured entirely around that with no B plot, I was bored watching this. I don't know, maybe it was too serious. What do others think?
The drawings just keep getting more increasingly detailed, but there were few of the grotesque and funny drawings that I have come to expect from a video created by Tamers.
The part I liked the best was the scene where Apple bloom switches eyeballs. That was funny and absurd. Or the part where Pinky pie is getting beat up and bullied. With how I found the focus of this episode to be drab, I think there was something left to be desired, especially with the high of the previous episode, which was marvelous with the silly comic relief in the A plot and the dramatic B plot.
I would be really interested in him showing his actual process some day.
In the live chat before the premier started, Tamers revealed some aspect of his video making process. He claims to use Microsoft Movie Maker. I can't quote his message because he wrote it around an hour before the video made its premier, and YouTube discards that part of the live chat.
He said that
- He uses Microsoft Movie Maker
- The video is processed multiple times in this software because it cannot create a video where two sounds are playing simultaneously
- The premier as he was preparing to upload needed to be taken down because he accidentally uploaded the video without all the needed audio.
I thought that was fascinating. Though, I think if he wants to hit and maintain this goal of uploading weekly, he will have to use a video editor with greater compositing capabilities. It must waste his time and energy to use software that can't accommodate his creative vision. I don't think that's worth it to keep the image of his persona pristine.
