Anyone play Dungeon Crawl Classics? How is it? Looking for a more sleepy, less woke system than DnD.
I have been eyeing DCC for some time now. The core rulebook is awesome, has some great artwork. It's a weird more deadly than normal ruleset that's kind of hybrid OSR/modern, but I didn't get any woke vibes from reading it.

The crit/spellcasting tables the game includes are probably one of the coolest things I saw in there. If anything crits instead of just doing double damage you roll a d20 and go off of a table to determine what happens. Enemy monsters get these different crit effects as well, but usually only have one special thing they do. Also, if you cast a spell you have to roll on a table to see if you get the effect you want and how effective the effect is.

Some DCC artwork:

Toad god best god.

A handful of boomer era funny page comics are sprinkled throughout.

Fighting mushrooms.

One of my favorite RPG book illustrations ever. This is what I assume a lvl 0 adventure will be like.

Spell Failure.

I love that one with the skeleton. The body language isn't even threatening, it's just 'Now see here you idiot, that doesn't even work on me.'

I love the elf. His expression is just "I'm so done with this shit."

>40% female
I don't think I have an "X" button I can mash hard enough at that one.

Be honest, Wizards. How many of these "females" have dicks between their legs?

So I watch Aj pickett once in a while when I'm bored and need some background noise, a part of his latest video caught my attention:

Goes on to talk about expurgation and how WOTC/TSR have done it before, I'm not shocked by this at all since I was partially aware of it but even then found it interesting, and kek at that jab at white wolf.
I'm actually looking foward to the D&D/TTRPG fad ending to see how fast WOTC try to desperately win back their "old" customers.

They definitely added other on purpose to make themselves seem more woke than they actually are.

And whoda thought that a year of lockdown makes people want to find any excuse to socialize?

60/40 honestly seems to approximately match a lot of the IRL groups I've seen and been in the past four or five years. The only trannies I've seen have been TiF, too - all the TiMs are too wildly autistic to actually go outside to meet people at the game shop, I guess.

either critical role loses it's attraction (doubt anytime soon) or anything else comes up to be equally popular with the mainstream casuals.
and let's face it, d&d was always the casuals first and only choice.

Eh, the Story Teller system has potential if only due to it being easier in someways to learn and not needing as much materials to run.

West End's d6 system could also have been infected if, you know, it wasn't dead-dead as a publisher.

Going through the new Ravenloft book and laughing hard at them raceswapping the minstrel lord to be black now. Fucking Meistersinger Al Jolson

Did you get to the part where they tell you that playing the setting as a horror one is bad yet? Because that is easily the dumbest thing in that book.

It's almost up there with the obsession of giving black people sloppy seconds.
