As an artificer in 5e you can just create magical prosthetics for yourself. I once played a goblin outlaw who was missing an arm. He was an artificer and as part of one of his abilities he could make mundane magic items and such including prosthetics. That said I gave him a metal arm. Also and more importantly, his Steel Defender was a mechanical one eyed horse named Cycloneous. Eventually we discovered Pepsi and I put Pepsi logos on the horse officially dubbing the character Shackle & Pepsi Cyclone
Are there official rules for prosthetics or is it more of a flavour thing? I'm quite interested in playing an artifecer whose arm can double as a weapon or focus.

Nothing official, but lingering wound DMs tend to learn to create and adopt homebrew prosthetic rules so that their players aren't permanently gimped due to losing limbs and the occasional eye. Never gotten into a scenario where I would be able to get a prosthetic upgraded, but if a stubborn enough artificer wanted to talk to their DM and work to weaponize them, more power to them. Personally, I'm actually searching for ways to make it happen, with my two key theories is that it'll look like Guts' cannon hand or Automail.

I would be lying if I said FMA automail wasn't a big inspiration for my artificer concept, evil dead and venom MGS V inspired me as well to a lesser degree and they make me wonder if having a prosthetic that transforms or lets you swap the hand part for a chainsaw or pretty much a rocket rist would be way too much for my DM. I wouldn't be asking for a custom or homebrewed weapon or anything, just fluff my longsword as a chainsaw and the rocket fist as a throwing weapon.

If you can't get the chainsaw, at least try for a regular arm blade. As for the rocket fist, I'd say that a gun barrel inside the forearm could also work with just a little bit of brewing (assuming one already has rules for firearms) All of these would rely on having the skill and money to finance some of the bigger upgrades over having a simple replacement limb, so never expect to get the good stuff right away.

There are some artificer specific things, yes. I know that as a warforged there’s an option for artificer to put a hidden sword in your arm for instance.

As the goblin Shackle I was partial to pulling my arm off and throwing it at an enemy only for it then to begin beeping as if it were a bomb countdown. Got out of so many combats that way.

I remembered artificers get an infusion to make throwing weapons return to the user, I could use that for a rocket fist.
Artificer is such a fun class, I feel it lends more to refluffing your abilities than say, wizard. The infusions system is also good to get creative, way easier to create a new infusion than a spell.
Warlock is the other class that makes me feel a similar way, with invocations and the added bonus that the patron adds another dimension to your character (that is if your DM isn't a piece of shit and/or lazy). As a DM It is always fun to work with a warlock player to design a patron and later play it.

Dark Old One, Blade Pact is perhaps one of my favorite builds in D&D 5e. There’s just so much you can do with it.

At this point I would find it hard to play a bladelock without picking the hexblade patron since it makes your life a lot easier. In the other hand I prefer the flavour of the other patrons and while yes, you can talk to your DM to refluff stuff and maybe change the damage type of your hex and smite, not all DMs are that open to that stuff.
I still lament the fact the weapon invocations from the first hexblade draft, each with their own unique smite, were consolidated into a single invocation. I wish you could at least pick the damage type.

Honestly the Warforged Artificer substitution levels look fucking awesome for a tin can character.

Nah, hex blade is just boring and doesn’t provide a lot of versatility. My honest opinion is that the patron options from Xanathar’s are kind of garbage.

Celestial is very Fun if you wanna play an Off Healer imo. Played a halfling celestial warlock for a longform campaign with some friends and it was a good time

You can't escape that easily. I present Radical Catgirl Anarchy to the class.
As an addition to that game I also present SPANC, Space Pirate Amazon Ninja Catgirls. Had a girl bring it to a house party once, it was fun but we were all pretty fucked. The game is furry degen bait for sure.
I’ve been to amateur wrestling matches like this before. They’re fucking amazing. It’s one of those things that needs to be on every man, woman and child’s bucket list. I once got to see a referee get set on fire and it wasn’t even part of the show.

Those boys are fucking mental, their live shows are unreal, when they do the shows with kids allowed they're funny as fuck and when they do them for older audiences they're brutal. I swear to god one of them is going to go full Benoit
His early stuff is good, but I got tophat levels of pissed off with him over the Dark Tower series.

Plus, he was trying to tie a number of his books into a shared universe after the fact. Stupid.
He really shit the bed after the Fourth one, I liked getting to know Roland and Susan's story like a western Romeo and Juliet. Then it gets to Wolves of the Callah and I can't get through the bullshit with the Dogan, the Dr. Doom robots who use snitches from Harry Potter and lightsabers as weapons. It just felt like he totally gave up, I prefer cocaine King over post-2000 King.

So I’m about to play my first Dwarf ever in a D&D 5e game and for once I thought I’d go the simple route and make a Forge Cleric since we can either choose standard array or a 27 point buy. I really enjoy Forge Cleric and I figure since this is a Westmarch I can make a killing putting the local Smithy out of business while slowly leveling since I only have weekends to play with. I went with a Mountain Dwarf for the boosted Strength and Con giving him a 16 Str 10 Dex 16 Con 10 Int 14 Wis and 10Cha. Pretty decent for a point buy. I think I’ll name him Ungreal(Oon-grail). I want to keep it simple but at the same time I kinda want to make him different from every other boring dwarven cleric.

Thus marking the first, and only, time it will ever see actual play.
There are a million cooler ways to deal with being crippled in a fantasy world than a wheelchair. Also lol at a wheelchair being more freeing than levitating.
Gotta say, the idea of playing a spellcaster who was crippled and now has to use levitation or a magical item with a similar effect to move sounds interesting.
The wheelchair is overpowered and cringy as a concept.
Imagine that, in a high fantasy world where there are dragons, magic that laughs in the face of the laws of physics, where you can find a myriad loopholes for your disabilities, like a lizard that could crawl around walls, or you could artifice some Doc Ock-metal tentacle/limbs, you're the fucking pussy on a wheelchair. Honestly, leave the "inspirational cripple" gimmick for NPC's, this shit has no room for an adventurer unless the whole point is that you want to seem useless and surprise enemies... of course, good luck trying to garner sympathy from, say, Tucker's Kobolds. :story:

See what I mean?
I mentioned it before, this is just a perfect way to use followers/hirelings. Get your character Yzma the Geriatric Sorcererss to be carried around by Kronk the Int 5 Human Fighter. Imagine the banter.
-I am so glad you guys appeared in the nick of time to kill those gnolls, but... how did you survive falling into the acid pits?
Yzma tries to answer, drawing a blank. "Kronk, how did we get out of that one?"

I just got Foundry VTT and its pretty smexy. I've got the Warhammer Fantasy module and its really good. Best part is that players don't need to buy anything and its not browser based. In contrast to Fantasy Grounds in which you've got to spend like 2-3 times the price.

Been meaning to get foundry since there is a pretty powerful D&D 5e script for it, but the prospect of learning another platform is a bit daunting.
I have been using roll20 for nearly 6 years now and while I recognize the code is a hot mess, performance is trash and one of the owners is a power tripping cunt who will ban you merely for having a similar name to another user they banned, it still works for what I do.
Lastly I've heard it is not so great for systems that aren't d&d 5e, for example they had trouble adding character features or spells which savage worlds uses, but I suppose it will be much better once someone builds a module for the system in question.

Yeah, but you have to remember Foundry is like six months old, so it has a ways to go. It only has a single premium module as well, so basically the whole thing is in flux. But the one-time purchase is really attractive and being free for players is awesome. As is not having to do everything on the web.

So because I had nothing better to do I bought a premium account on Hero Forge and started making and buying figures to commemorate all my favorite characters I’ve ever played in D&D... and I preemptively bought one of my newest character Ungrael because I’m already up to some memorable shenanigans with him obliterating the economy of a Westmarch and sending the DMs into a panic.
