And in V5 all of that got drone striked and replaced by a neo-pagan ecofeminist communist collective, because it's V5.
You get why I say a player asking to play Tremere is a red flag if you're trawling for new players, given how I emphasized the version for a reason. For fuck's sake, there are Tremere ANARCHS in v5. I'm not talking about controlling someone who plays one or how to manage one, I'm talking about when recruiting what things you should probably avoid and why. This is why.

A lot of decent players can be found from those who only play the v5 and other WoD 5e stuff, because when they play the older versions they almost always like the lore a hell of a lot better. They might prefer the stuff actively lifted from requiem, like Blood Potency or hunger, but there's a reason a lot of them homebrew v5.

As a CoD and Requiem defender, those parts never got to me, but getting RID of unique disciplines and fucking up thy setting to make way, that was the worst. CoD was made to free themselves up from the lore baggage and was designed every step of the way to allow for more freedom for Storytellers and players, but can't have that, better ruin WoD instead!

I like the Chronicles, even if Requiem was weaker than Masquerade in my opinion. I don't want that shit to fuck up my World of Darkness though.

Werewolf was way more egregious, as was Hunter. The reason by the by for both is of course Justin Achilli, who apparently really fucking hated Apocalypse and was the guy behind Forsaken. This I find interesting given that for the longest time Apocalypse was my least favorite of the splats before I finally shook off the horrorshows I saw among the players. So it's like watching what'd happen if I got my hands on the IP and didn't bother to look up what was different between the two properties.

The best is to play with people you know, if you play with strangers just play a one shot, one or two evenings. If the group works you can run a longer game afterwards.
This is what I did but one other idea is to do a game where the setting itself is the opposite of woke. I always liked Stormbringer for this but not for the anti-woke part but because everyone was a fan of Moorcock, and it was always run for comedic value because otherwise it would just be grimderp. Mostly it was a break from CoC and run chaotic stupid in a single scenario way.

The two major societies everyone would want to be (Melnibonean or Pan Tangian) were insanely racist, their entire cultures were based on sexual sadism and slavery, and no woke person could play in any of these games. It would be like a cross to a vampire.

And every scenario ended with everyone trying to kill each other to steal the MacGuffin. Or use the MacGuffin to kill the guy who hired them to steal the MacGuffin, and THEN try to kill each other.

Imagine a woke version of Stormbringer. I mean, I dare you.

(Also this is really funny considering Moorcock is pretty much a total tankie.)

Late on the usual posting time, but holy shit was Hollow Ones a terrible book. These Romantics have the smugness of the Sidhe, the historical revisionism of the New World Order, the myopia of a Harano Child of Gaia, and the fashion sense of an elder Toreador!

That book notwithstanding, the Hollow Ones are a hoot. They're like Toreador with no money. If you guys want an actual good book that serves as a Hollower tradbook, I recommend The Orphan's Survival Guide.

Given that Pariahs tried it and also didn't do a good job and this suggestion had Achillis hands on it? I'm going to say I don't believe that this one will fix an idea that they seemingly never were able to do well, especially since like most of their influences before they went full artsy was just stuff that the Etherites or Verbena did, with a dash of Euthanatoi thrown in.

holy shit my players keep skipping over the items and they need for the final boss of the campaign. im half-tempted to throw the seven minions they missed at once when they get to the final room just to see what happens. or watch them go back to a world gone to all chaos because they thought the big bad and world paused when theyre not on-screen.

Have the 7 minions led by an abino dyrad with ice spells.

Have the BBEG be empowered by his minions instead, less of a clusterfuck but still a "hey retard, you forgot something."

Pulling a Romancing Saga- Minstrel Song on them eh?
There's a few things you can do in that game to make that happen. On the upside there's only 3 of them. On the downside they're all absolutely busted casters that'll mop the floor with you if RNG keeps them double casting too much.
Good fight though.

DM question. How do you make a road trip/hike interesting?

Powerlevel. I still haven't received the missing cards for Gloomhaven, however, Discord's committing tumblr has meant my internet group is getting their arse in gear before the platform collapses.

One of the games is a sci-fi road trip. Similar to Taveller Mission to Mithril, only a jungle instead of snow, or the creepypasta Left Right Game. The idea is the PCs have to drive somewhere, but deal with hostile creatures, weather, etc along the way. I don't want it to be a series of drive and repair checks. And just rolling a few random encounters seems a bit lame, but maybe that's the way to do it?

I'm not against the vehicle breaking down and them going on foot, but that creates a different problem. Many of the issues are negated by being in a vehicle, or will be an instant TPK if not. eg. Wolves won't do much to a vehicle, but a t-rex will fuck up a party on foot. Best idea I have is to have a hike to get to the vehicle, and tailor the encounters to each phase, but that might seem forced?

People are finally willing to compromise on a supers one shot. Now all I need is a worthwhile adventure. I'm also considering doing a one shot with the premise of Good Luck Have Fun Don't Die. I've not seen the film, but the idea of time loops and PCs are normal people appeals to me, but got to figure out how to do a time loop adventure is just a few hours.

Cool concept. I may back the Kickstarter.
I'm not seeing why you would want this over something like dungeon tiles. Maybe a prop for an adventure where the map is on the cube, but it seems awfully niche.

One I like is have them being chased by something that is basically unbeatable without an artifact that is carried by something they're chasing themselves. And let them know what's up so they know they can't dawdle. You need something like a ranger to track (but just make it succeed all the time).
