How WOTC and Paizo sees orcs.

Goodman Games bends the knee to social justice and wokism.

Dungeons and Dragons and pathfinder fans are bigger faggots than Disney Star Wars and MCU fans. They deserved all the bad things that happened to them. D&D died with Gary Gygax. The fact is, YouTube is full of revisionists, not only defending Lorraine Williams, but the Kathleen Kennedy of role-playing games. They call her the woman who saved D&D because she got Gary Gygax removed from TSR. Lorraine Williams banned playing RPG games at a gaming company. She removed sexy artwork and used demons and devils in the AD&AD second edition.

You are just describing the biggest untapped lulzcow in the tabletop and RPG community. It's how Indestructoboy view black people in a nutshell. This deformed Reddit faggot argued that using the Spanish language is indeed nazism because Spanish is transphobic and uses racial slurs. Hardcore WOTC/Hasbro shill that defend censorship. The Outright argued that being mixed race racist and banning half elves from D&D is the right side of history.

A 500 page retrospective book with the orginal D&D rules, white box. Unaltered, no disclaimers. With never before published notes from Gary, Dave and others.

Damn it, I don't want to buy anything from WOTC of the Coast. But this is very tempting.

I literally never heard of them until now, and now I guess I won't touch DnD knock-off number 852. Because honestly if I don't want to play DnD due to policy I'll just either use 3.5 like I always do, play Pathfinder 1e, or play Warhams Fantasy RPG. Or literally the dozens of other systems out there. Hell, recommending Runequest over it tbh, since you can at least play ducks in it.

They call her the woman who saved D&D because she got Gary Gygax removed from TSR. Lorraine Williams banned playing RPG games at a gaming company. She removed sexy artwork and used demons and devils in the AD&AD second edition.

That stuff is chickenshit compared to what she actually did. Like it or not, bowldlerized AD&D 2e sold quite well. But Williams ran a bust-out operation on TSR, inventing increasingly clever ways to have money rotated out of the company bank account and into hers. Perhaps the most egregious of these was the Buck Rogers deal. She personally had a large stake in the IP, so she had TSR sign a deal with herself to publish a Buck Rogers RPG. Okay, sure, a little shady, but so what? The terms of the deal were insane. See, Buck Rogers was a dead IP with near-zero sales potential, and Williams knew it. So, under the terms of the deal, royalties were paid to Williams for every Buck Rogers book printed, not sold. Yeah, that's right. She banked massive royalties despite the product selling like ass. No refunds, motherfuckers!

When WotC took over TSR, they cleaned up the books, ended all the Williams bullshit, and got the company profitable in less than a year. This was before 3rd edition came out.

Yeah, 2nd edition had some great content under Williams, to this day it still has the best settings ever conceived for the game. Does that excuse the rest of her bullshit? Eh. Probably not for the poor fuckers who had to work with her, but as a player I don't feel I particularly suffered during her tenure. Mostly I don't give a shit. A continued TSR without a WotC buyout may have given us a better product than what we're getting today, but TSR wasn't in great shape even before Williams signed on; I'm a little skeptical that it would've survived without the buyout even had she not been in the picture and embezzling.

I knew they had a mindset like this ever since they purged the core rulebook for their flagship system of gendered pronouns wherever possible.

That lineup is totally representative of OSR players and creators, by the way. There are more illustrations of niggers in that rulebook than there are actual niggers who play these games.

The CR crowd and slaves of WotC are at least half of the community now, and if they completely retreat to Hasbro's online walled garden, actual physical tabletop gaming will fade away and become something like the CB radio hobby crossed with Gab.
I really might just deserve all of the rainbow reacts at this point, but I think this kind of doomer take is out of touch with reality. Just in the last year, I have met and played with so many people in-person that aren't aware/don't care about any of the recent bullshit WotC is attempting to push, and they have all been great to play with. If I looked around hard enough in the right places, I'm sure I could find some insufferable retards with blue hair and neovaginas, but I'm almost certain those people don't actually play in-person because they can't find people within driving distance who want to hang out with them.

I don't think anything I say here is likely to convince anyone who thinks this hobby is going to die because of WotC and Hasbro running the D&D brand into the ground, but I just want to encourage people here to step back and consider that all of the online discussions about this hobby are taking place between about 10-15% of the people who actually play (probably even less, but I'll be generous). There is also an outsized number of people engaging in these discussions who do not actually play with other people. Maybe some of those people used to play and haven't been able to start again for a long while, but most of them are people who like the idea of playing a TTRPG but have never actually gotten together with other people to play. I couldn't say if anyone in this thread fits that description because you're all just pseudonyms on my screen, so I'm not accusing anyone of being a wannabe. However, if anyone reading this knows that you fit that description, you just need to understand that the reality of the hobby out in the real world is not as bleak as some people online would have you believe. Yes, there are freaks and trannies that want to police the hobby and control what you think and say, but there are many, many more normal people out there who would like to play if given the opportunity. Is every person you meet going to be based and red pilled like your internet friends? No, probably not (but I have been surprised from time to time). However, once you're all having a good time playing a game you enjoy, you might just discover that you don't need everyone at the table to share all of your opinions.

To put a point on this rambling mess: go out, use good judgment, make some friends, and have fun playing a game you enjoy. Hasbro and WotC have almost nothing to do with that apart from producing material you are free to ignore if you aren't interested, and there are plenty of ways to get your hands on their books without giving them money. If you start playing, I think you might discover there are plenty of people out there who are worth playing with, and it might give you a very different perspective on the state of the hobby from the one you will see online.

Settle down, Aragorn.

Quit being mad. It might as well be. For a bunch of guys living in a medieval forest its missing the deer and boar. Seriously, some fucking lichen? What sort of poorfags are the elves they have to scrape gunk off rocks for a meal?

Also, that halfling meal is like a third of what its actual size would be.

I've never actually made a lot of preserved "ration" food are they always supposed to look like someone already shat them out?

Depending on how something's been preserved, sorta. A lot of things when dried or salted become shrively and brown, cheeses often get moldy on the outside, etc. Before the introduction of canned and frozen foods and the various chemical preservatives, beggars couldn't be choosers; you either ate fresh food or you made do with whatever could survive a few weeks without rotting and becoming unsafe to eat.

Anyone who has seen beef jerky shouldn't be that surprised by what these things look like. But yeah, a mix of drying, smoking, salting, spicing, and (ironically) sugaring foods all kept it from spoiling. If you could keep a honey-glazed ham dry and away from insects and other vermin (like by hanging it from the rafters indoors) it would last longer than one that didn't have honey, and taste better to boot. As for breads and cheeses, a thick crust also helped to keep the insides protected against the elements.

The only online gaming I do is with a group which was meeting IRL before the Scamdemic, and the one other online game I participated in years ago was with people who were definitely not dangerhairs. Everything else, including the game I currently run, is done IRL, so when I talk about this shit, know that I am basing my opinions on real world observations made both as a player and a DM, not r/rpghorrorstories or RPGPundit videos.

Same. I have a couple good players I play IRL and currently I'm in between FLGS to set up my solid-waste filtering operations at It was a general-purpose independent bookstore that the owner hosted RPG nights to push books; survived pandemic but not the rent hike the landlord imposed to force everyone out to sell out to developers but when I had one to run my one shot and mega dungeons, those showing up was full of coomers, danger hairs, and triggered SJWs who were usually theater majors.

Its great for smug grogs to come in with "Well my group from 1982 hasn't let in any woke nonsense. When I go to the local VFW its full of based & red pilled guys collecting social security", but while I am blue-hellhole adjacent I used to be in deep red territory and the pool of talent was getting worse.

I tried to so some Roll20 years ago and it was terrible. I've tried a few forums and its not been any better.
