Anybody here a fan of D&D Rules Cyclopedia? I'm thinking of buying the official print-on-demand version from the DM's Guild.

I do own the PDF of Dark Dungeons, an OSR retro-clone of the Rules Cyclopedia and it's pretty good. But I look forward to owning an actual hard copy of the real thing.

Rules Cyclopedia was a compilation of nearly all of the sets of Basic D&D into one volume and was released in 1991, partly as a "last hurrah" send-off to Basic D&D, as TSR wanted to focus more on AD&D than they already had.

Rules Cyclopedia itself was one of those books that wasn't super-popular when it was released but is now one of the most well-regarded and widely sought-after old-school versions of D&D because it's essentially an "all-in-one" book that contains everything for players and DM's alike, it even brought back the stronghold-building rules from OD&D. As such, secondhand copies on Amazon and eBay tend to be expensive,

I have a copy somewhere. It was insane how much content it had.

So a few days ago, Modiphius pumped out a rough copy of their John Carter core Rulebook for their backers. Not only that, but they also gave backers of this the .pdf for their Conan setting rulebook.

Looks like I'm doing a good deal of reading over the next few days.
Thanks for reminding me

I'm looking for a hard copy myself. Due to how rare the book is in good condition $250usd isn't bad for it (that's the most I'm spending on another copy myself) I'm hoping sellers will leaf through it for me and take pictures before I place an order.

I'm trying to recollect all of the old RPG stuff I had physical copies of before I lost my collection.

So currently going through my old gaming content for the boy scout adventure september 5th and it's rather fun revisiting the stuff, coming up with ideas and refining things. I think I am going to enjoy this campaign

Do we have an official Kiwi DND Group anymore?

Doing a Pathfinder Playtest game tomorrow. Does anyone have any thoughts on it or experience with it? It's been a LONG time since I've played Pathfinder so I'm not really sure what's changed.

1st or 2nd Edition? If first I've been playing since 2008 and have something like 7200 files both official and 3rd party. It's decent. Lots of options but depending on the group you'll have a munchkin group on your hands. Learn how they broke their character so you grind them into paste.

2nd Edition. I really hope I don't have a Munchkin group. It's just unfun.

Does anyone else feel a distict lack of excitement for anything WotC is releasing later this year? We got Eberron stuff and Mordenkainen’s, which i kinda cool. But then we got more Forgotten Realms stuff in the most generic part possible, a megadungeon that I could convert myself if I really wanted to use it, and some Magic the Gathering crossover sourcebook.

I'm looking forward to the Innistrad book but I feel like it's going to just be Ravenloft meets Call of Cthulhu lite.

Well it looks like there really isn't anything left of the old dnd groups. I'll probly just start my own if anyone is interested. I just gotta figure out if people would be more interested in pathfinder, dnd or cthulu.

Edit: Nvm I'm just impatient :^)

Yeah, it's pretty active; especially as the weekend draws near; we have Thursdays, (rarely) a Friday one; and a Saturday/Monday one. Though I'll note that the active bunch (including me) is around... dunno, about 2 - 3 smallish groups.
