I have it, however due to its complicated nature and lack of an f.a.q. (thanks lolOPP) I think I'll stick to ascension for the time being.

I'm not really digging the whole online role-playing though, call me old fashioned I guess. I've played in a few roll 20 games and some discord stuff and I'm really not feeling it.
You really need the right group for it.

I actually have a hardcover of the Mage the Ascension Revised Edition Core Rule Book, by the way. I should probably put a list of the WoD books I've found here sometime. I've got some neat finds.

The game got moved to today and the two players enjoyed themselves. Let's just say that they fell for the trolling that this ancient Gargel told them about the prince being a vampiric cannibal who's more sinister and destructive than he really is.

Got invited to play a meatspace 5e game with my brother and a mutual friend. I'm having an uncharacteristic bout of writer's block for a character. I don't want to play another guy who just hits things, but my mouth gets itchy whenever I play wizards or sorcerers. Please halp, Farms.

First tell me what the setting is like.

Legend of Zelda, set some time before Ocarina. Not a huge Zelda fan so I didn't get too many ideas from this. Personally I think D&D is ass for non-D&D settings for a variety of reasons but I don't mind playing along.

You could use the Book of Weeb Fighting Magic (Also called Tome of Battle, which does have a 5e version), which gives your beatstick some tricks to make them have some options without frying your mind. You could also be a semi-caster like a Paladin or Ranger, as both do spells but focus on the stick beating.

Decided to relearn Battletech, and I have to say I love the fact that the Total Warfare tells me I need the Total Warfare to play on page 10. At least it tells people that at least five books would be brought out to help you progress through the game.

If I can ever find a game, I'd probably stick with the Dark Ages so no one has to worry about canon. It also allows me full access to every mech and aerospace fighter I like.

How about take some levels in magic user and fighter?

In 5e, Fighters get "archetypes" at level 3 that let you do different stuff. The Battlemaster archetypes gives you things like the ability to riposte and parry enemies, and other more tactical features. The Eldritch Knight archetype gives you a couple of magic spells, so you have a bit of versatility.

I can agree with this. They all let you RP a bit too.

The Eldritch Knight is hardly optimal, but it is handy. Shield is useful, as are the Protection from X spells.

I like Greenflame Blade, it's awful for proper damage, but it's damn cool.

Did some research. I'm familiar with most of the stuff you guys suggested but none of it was quite whatI wanted. Then I remembered the War Domain cleric and realized that's exactly what I was trying to play.

Any form of War Priest like Pathfinder in 5th Edition? I only played the Alpha I was sent back in the day.

If you're up for a sort of 18th century style game, I know someone trying to run a round of Warmachines. Pretty friendly to optimizing and you can make some very interesting chars.

I haven't played a tabletop RPG in months and the withdrawal is going to kill me.
I'm running a "Drop in, drop out" style dungeon crawl D&D game on Fridays, and a Cthulhu Mythos-meets Spelljammer game on Tuesdays. Could possibly fit one more player in.

Maybe, depends on the time.

Those games are at around 5:30 - 6 pm, and usually last until around 8:30-9 PM depending on the players. Dunno about the Iron Kingdoms game which I'm certain has both space and is going to be likely a weekend game.
