It's frequented by a lot of take-no-prisoners Something Awful hangers on who are absolutely insane when it comes to purity checking the usual list of left-wing grievances like racism, sexism, transphobia, and the newest kid at the table: anything remotely associated with AI.

I mentioned this in the other thread but you should have seen the bitching when BGG interview Sandy Petersen back a bit ago.

In short, I applaud you starting extraordinary slap fights in the finest Troll manner possible that will hasten BGG's impending doom.
BGG is totally off the rails. Designers are taking a risk by using their services.

I got banned once for simply being nice and telling someone that we disagree but that our disagreement isn't a huge deal.

That was categorized under "disruptive".

You can really get these people raging for very little upfront cost.

Not even then. Here's DG by Blanche and then GUO's done by Blanche and England

Bright, colorful, lots of contrast, rust, corrosion, flies, sores, gore, etc. and yes the two demons behind the DG are brown but this isn't just everything covered in shit. Yeah, they're dirty. But it isn't what people do as "grimdark art" these days for shit like TC or painting TC minis.
Good point, and I should have known better since my current painting goal is making better displays of skin diseases/lesions, ect...on my various creatures. WD3.jpg WD1.jpg

I don't understand what's even the point of having normal soldiers in the settings when 99% of the art is the crazy things. The Imperial Guard worked because they were normal humans, but there are more unique normal human models in the art.
It's an art project claiming to be inspired by people like John Blanche... all while forgetting that Blanche actually still made things clean and colorful. Similarly, people forget who the fuck Jes Goodwin is, and while most of his stuff is grayscale drawings that he never colored in, it's still big bold punchy, not covered in fucking filth and grime, etc. Karl Kopinski, same thing a lot of big bold details, but shit is still on the cleaner side of things and when he does color things in there's bright bold color schemes involved. Adrian Smith, Wayne England, Neil Roberts, and so on all defined what the grimdark art is over the years but most people including a lot of artists haven't actually really looked at any of their shit.
It's like they took the meme of "40K is grimdark satire" seriously. Like yeah the background itself is overly edgy, but in the end the people making it wanted it to be cool and fun to the point of trying to make a rock label with it, rather than make it a treatise about the folly of humanity. Space King is more similar to 40K than this shit.

The website is fucking horrible, and I mean the actual design of it. 1998 bullshit. It's so hard to have any discussions or share files, and tons of games are just utterly and completely dead. It's rating system is totally useless as everything rounds out at around 7-8.

It's only useful IMO for seeing what the top 20 games are, the rankings are neat to check. That's it.

So, just around a week after I painted my first dinosaur, Buer games has announced that they'll have new updates coming on the 28th.

SaveClip.App_843397817_18467171164186031_5206349944041799740_n.jpg 1792023548020.png

And as the dinosaur autist I am, I'll tell you guys if it's cool or not. I hope they bring some interesting taxa, maybe a carcharodontosaur like carcharodontosaurus or giganotosaurus. Maybe an abelisaur like carnotaurus or titanovenator. Ceratosaurus would be sick as well and I wouldn't mind a megaraptoran either. Even non-dinosaur predators could make for interesting inclusions, such as deinosuchus or hatzegopteryx. But what I would really dream of would be a marine gamemode for giant prehistoric sea monsters like mosasaurs, pliosaurs, whales and even megalodon. Maybe even a smaller scale game for paleozoic and cenozoic land predators. The last two are really unlikely, though.

Welp, that's enough autism for this post. Until then 🫡
