If you don't believe me fine. But le quirky chungus is all over those models and if he continues on this line expect the worst. Wait til they get to the green skins to see it come in full force.
The guy whose torso and armor is a flaming skull doesn't register as cartoony enough to you to mention, but the skeleton eyes are an issue because they have bumps at the back of the sockets to paint as a point source for OSL? Come the fuck on dude. Like I said, Duncan's shit looks like an 80s Saturday morning fantasy cartoon meant to sell a line of action figures. The stuff you mentioned that I looked up looks nothing like that. And I guess having a miniature with a face that's clearly shouting is "le quirky chungus" now? He didn't even do the typical modern bullshit of painting one of the random soldiers in obviously European inspired armor brown for the marketing photos.

First off, you didn't even know the genre existed. Why would you know shit about it? Why must you always argue when you're out of your depth?
Le Quirky goblins riding giant chickens. Art you find on the website if you do even the most basic research.
The sculptors are all named and you can check out their 3d print pages. I own some of their minis and have painted them up. There's even one who has nothing but pictures of mini's feet for his header. You notice sculpting styles and genres and can figure out exactly where it's going. You can even see specific sculptors adapting how they do hair to make it more cartoony. Not many serious mini lines give blue eye liner to their heroes either.
This isn't some random fucking vacuum we're living in. Basic research shows you the type of people working on it. The concept art being made. The hecking good boy Duncan Rhodes and his Reddit fanboys. He made a company out of a meme name.
The preview set of 2 minis (one soldier, one skeleton) is £20 plus postage. Insane prices as expected from le quirky chungus fantasy skirmish genre.
A lot of the old sculpters are making new metal minis in the same style. Especially orcs, goblins and chaos. But they're all very expensive metal minis. You need so many to fill out an army there's no point. Make good gifts for mates though.
I've seen a few, but unless I ever undertook that Space Crusade or Tyranid Attack restoration project I occasionally fantasize about, I wouldn't really consider it.
Yes, I admit I didn't know it was a thing. I don't read UK miniature magazines. I didn't say you were lying, I asked for an example, found what you were talking about, and agreed with you that they look faggy as fuck. How is that being "out of my depth" when I asked you for more information so I could look into the matter and agreed with what you said about it, including posting the examples I found just to make sure we were talking about the same thing? What exactly did I use to refer to the shit you had complained about?
Unless you're now trying to assert that the Arc Worlde(christ I hate this spelling) wasn't supposed to be the gay miniatures you're seeing in magazines? I'm legitimately confused.
So then don't buy the fucking goblins then? Oh wait, they're not a product. I don't give a flying fuck what the art looks like, especially since we don't even know if it's even concept art for a mini. I'm basing my opinion entirely on the miniatures that are being marketed to be sold. And a fat valkyrie singing that looks like a generic Brunnhilde(I'm not going to bother copy-pasting the umlaut)
That's still not soy face either(although it is fat, but there's precedent for that)

What the fuck to Link and an anime character have to do with literally anything? Do you think that once a person uses a particular style, they can't do anything differently when being paid by a company for sculpts? Ignoring that those characters definitely aren't from anything Duncan is involved with, none of the sculpts show from Death Reaper Games have anything resembling those proportions even, let alone facial expressions. They probably do private commissions for random degenerate shit too like so many digital artists do.

So now there's a problem with the name of the company? Do you complain about Reaper Miniatures as well that sells a paint line and a line of minis under the same "Reaper" name, and they've been around since the 90s? Death Reaper Games is a problem but this is ok?
Or if you're complaining about the Two Thin Coats thing, yeah it's a meme... but it's also intelligent branding since everyone knew the name already, as well as the face behind the paint range and got it successfully into retail pretty quickly after the kickstarter. It would have been fucking retarded to not capitalize on that.
You're right, that is bullshit, and I won't be buying it. Although it is actually kinda funny for once seeing that it's only $21 which converts to 15.6 pounds, but they're asking 18 pounds when swapping to UK currency. Normally I'd expect it to be the other way around for a British guy being involved in a company and buttfucking the US prices instead of the British prices.
But now that I've looked up information based on what you provided again, and agreed with you, are you going to accuse me of being out of my depth again? You come off like the retarded dog in someone's backyard that freaks out every time someone walks by along the sidewalk that's 70 feet away. You're making it out like he's selling some bullshit like this(jesus fucking christ that's overpriced for a 3d printed mini on a 60mm base) when he doesn't appear to be doing that.

The branding isn't the problem. The wholesome big chungus persona he puts on and encouraging the cult like status he has among GW's fanbase is totally different from that. Knowing his community, knowing the genre and knowing the people involved's art style all adds up to more.
Duncan is the Reddit face of mini painting. Like Uncle Atom and Miniac are.
Some more examples of the big chungus folk horror genre. Darker style but snail demons, Christmas hats. It's a silly bear with long legs. It kickstarts well but it never gets any footing as a game. The people wanting quirky minis usually like them.

The fact that you called the tabletop minions guy "Uncle Atom" now that's some cult shit and you just proved it worked. As far as Miniac, dude is a faggot and a scam artist(that guy he left hanging for most of a decade for an army painting commission is bullshit, the guy seemed grateful in the video, I'd have been fucking furious). Fortunately his views have fallen off from just a couple of years ago(same with tabletop minions). But if you want the true current reddit tier youtube painting faggotry, that would probably go to Squidmar.
Reddit. Do you think this is presentable? I think it looks like you have a funko pop collection.
Here's the model they started selling this weekend. The hecking space pug with his hecking tongue hanging out of his mouth. I told you the style was big chungus random and there's the evidence. You recognize the style and how silly it gets as soon as they have the chance.
My only complaint is Duncan should stick to his paint line and online guides. I've seen enough of these channels make their own minis and games only to never promote them ever again after the initial campaign. Miniwargaming as one example or Black Magic Craft for another

Now this I believe to be absolutely correct. The MWG trash was a bunch of pre-assembled PVC models that were just 40k proxies or more slop for OPR. Hell, the ravagedstar website hasn't even been touched in years since their crowdfunding bullshit and they've done nothing to promote the "game" that supposedly exists for it.
The one time I've seen those minis in person, it was a guy who finally got his crowdfunding reward late, cracked it open at the local game store, was immediately disappointed in how shit the minis were(he wanted to use them as chaos proxies), and declared that they were a free for all for everyone in the store and he couldn't even give away more than half of 'em(he got a huge box with a bunch of shit in it, got rid of maybe 20 minis). When people aren't even interested in them for free seeing them in hand, you know they're a shit product.
Just as stated by Michael Jordan before he outed himself as a pedo, "even republicans buy shoes". In this case "even faggots buy paint". Yes, that's being presentable to a general audience of people that go outside, bathe, and interact with others. It's also not being some scruffy retard in the event someone's parents actually watched what they were doing online, would be concerned with. Frankly I prefer Vince Venturella's content anyway, but the guy is monotone as fuck and does not come off as a professional presenter for a general audience.

He's also branched into hosting painting competitions at conventions.
Duncan isn't saying the same thing Jordan was. He is one of the retards. He intentionally courts them because he knows there's big money in courting retards. But I don't like any one who buys a product then poses with it. It's Reddit.
Moonstone! That's the big quirky boutique skirmish game. There's others that got big but the names escaping me.
That old dude just makes 12-15 minute videos for ad-revenue while presenting the flavour of the week games everbody has alreary heard of. I also hate his face.
His Gundam video and so ridiculous that I hate-read through most comments...was interesting to see him fighting so many people and then deleting most of it. He is also on top of hidden advertising/shilling for products. I hate these people...and his face (his boyfriend or whatever that guy is as well).
Also, this scene is so small and incestuous, that it is kinda interesting to observe. There is only a few people you never see anywhere in meet-ups, events, marketing and so on (or I just don't know how they look like, lol).
Oh he explains it himself right from the start in this video.
The gist of it is that he dragged his ass to complete a commission for 8 years(and even points out that in his first video on his channel a year prior to this update, he mentioned it had been 7 years already), during which he even moved out of state. Even dumber, is that it's not just a friend he screwed, the guy was his best man for his wedding apparently. One of his other friends even says "oh hell no" when asked if he thought he'd ever finish it. Yes, a painting and conversion commission for an army takes time, but 8 fucking years? and he didn't even drill the damned barrels on everything. Makes some dumb comment about "doing it at a reasonable pace" 8 years is not reasonable for that.
