Julian Assange: Sweden drops rape investigation

Prosecutors drop a rape inquiry into Wikileaks founder Julian Assange, who is in custody in the UK.

Prosecutors in Sweden have dropped an investigation into a rape allegation made against Wikileaks co-founder Julian Assange in 2010.

Assange, who denies the accusation, has avoided extradition to Sweden for seven years after seeking refuge at the Ecuadorean embassy in London in 2012.

The 48-year-old Australian was evicted last month and sentenced to 50 weeks in jail for breaching his bail conditions.

He is currently being held at Belmarsh prison in London.

Shit, Sweden dropping a rape investigation, is this some sort of reverse psychology to make me think Assange actually committed rape, if it is- it might just be working.
 
They know that he's probably headed straight for the deepest, darkest hole in the U.S. Prison system anyway. Why keep up the charade when you can just clear a case off of your books and be done with it?
 
It's now a decade since the allegation was made. The chances of a successful prosecution given the passage of time and the intervening events are... well, they are shit.

My personal belief is that he probably did what he was accused of doing, but there is also a point at which going through with a trial is not in the interests of the public or the victims. I don't think at this point an objectively fair trial is possible given that he basically went on the lam for years.

I think this is probably the right decision. I still would not want anyone I care for to be alone with the dude.

In Sweden rape has a different meaning. Him taking off a condom? yeah sure I can see how that's done, no one wants to fuck with a rubber. But that's hardly rape.

the women never wanted to have him charged. One asked for an STD test, the women were pressured into making it a rape case. How convenient that is how he will end up in the USA

think of what is undefensible (pedos and rapists) and look to anyone they want to smear (Assange, the 3D gun printer gun, etc)
 
I told every retard making fun of him for "hiding" from the rape investigation that he would never be arrested or tried for rape. Even if he had actually raped someone, no one who wants to try him for treason gives a shit about that type of thing. They want a pretext for arresting him, that's it, and the only way to make public outcry go away is to make it about a sex crime. Once he is in custody, public opinion doesn't matter a whole lot.

The FBI used to fuck with married civil rights activists by sending fake letters to their spouses, claiming to have had a child out of wedlock during an affair. When ralph nader was agitating for mandatory seatbelt laws, the car companies tried to do the same type of thing. they paid hookers to try and fuck him and none of them could get near the guy. He turned out to be basically asexual though so they failed pretty spectacularly. That seems to be the only way to succeed, to not pursue marriage or relationships and not fuck strangers. Very few people go through life like that.

When you try to go against a crapload of people that have a lot to lose by anyone stirring some shit in their direction they will do their utmost to destroy you. And the more you garner attention the more they will want to fuck you up because they will know you have some momentum behind you and push even further. Remember the saying "If you give a mouse a cookie it will ask you for a glass of milk". They have to cover their bases because today giving an inch is a sign of weakness, no matter if what you do in your detriment is something objectively good.

You already know the usual methods to get rid of people like this, but when they don't work because they have a conscience or they hate whoever they are against, you have to play dirty and focus your attack on something that will have a real effect.

Yes, I'm sure that without the rape allegation they would have just sneered at him and shaked their fist at him shouting: "You little rascal got us again!"

Or they would have drone striked him the moment he wasn't in a populated city. Or he would have shot himself in the back of the head with a barbell. Or invented another bogus claim to legally follow up if they want to make an example out of him first.
