Sweden Deporting Young People

Forced Out as They ‘Age Out,’ as Families Remain

Ayla, 21, Jomana, 18, and Ilya, 19, came to Sweden as children, though at different ages and under different circumstances. Today they face the same reality: all have been ordered to leave the country alone while their families remain.

These cases stem from Sweden’s increasingly restrictive migration policy, under which young people who turn 18 before obtaining permanent residency are no longer considered part of their parents’ family unit. The Swedish Migration Agency states that residency based on parental ties is granted only in exceptional cases involving “special dependency.” A normal parent-child relationship is not sufficient.

On February 17, 2025, a multiparty proposal to stop these deportations did not gain a majority in the Parliamentary Committee on Social Insurance, despite cross-party recognition that the practice separates families.

Jomana Gad, 18, arrived in Sweden at age 4 and faces deportation to Egypt. “I have my whole life here,” she told media, describing her hopes for education and work. Ayla Rostami, 21, who arrived at 15, recalls seeing Sweden as a place of freedom. Ilya Taheraki, 19, came at age 8 and applied for permanent residency at 15. He was rejected days after turning 18. He and Ayla now face deportation to Iran.

Young people cannot be deported from Sweden if they have permanent residency, but many children spend years in the country on temporary permits. Combined with long processing times and increasingly restrictive policies—including stricter family reunification rules, higher income requirements, and narrowed humanitarian protection such as limits on “particularly distressing circumstances”—the safeguards that keep families together have weakened. As a result, some “age out” at 18 and lose their right to remain in the country as they can no longer claim residency based on ties to their parents.

Sweden is a party to both the European Convention on Human Rights and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, under which failing to prioritize the best interest of the child and to protect the private and family lives of children and young adults within the context of immigration is a violation of the country’s international legal obligations.

Instead, Sweden should halt deportations that separate young adults from their families and ensure children’s asylum and family reunification cases are processed without delays that cause them to age out of protection. The government should also create clear pathways to residency reflecting the years individuals have spent in Sweden, including schooling and community ties, and reintroduce humanitarian grounds for “particularly distressing circumstances.”

"increasingly restrictive migration policy" means a reduction in acceptance rates from 100% to 98% and the remigration of about 50 token brown people, usually intentionally the "wrong" kind of brown people as well ( fairly sympathetic looking girls who really dindu and are on their way to a degree in astrophysics and pediatric medicine ) to make women and softcocks feel bad about the policy.

It's a start, although I'd prefer if they were just shot dead upon refusing to leave, followed by their families.

I knew my GOAT Sweden would come back to sanity 🙏🏻 still a long way to go but they're definitely pushing harder on the immigration issue than most Western countries right now (which isn't much unfortunately)

the question is how are the actual numbers looking
they've been doing shit like this for years in various euro countries:
>politician in power talks a big talk about finally getting tough on immigration
>carries out deportations with great fanfare and massive publicity
>media makes a huge deal about it
>months later, yearly statistics come out
>300 total deportations and 80.000 new arrivals

I wanted to know if breitbart's writing about the horrors of the migrant areas in Sweden was exaggerated or not, so when I went there on a trip, I decided to visit these "no-go" zones.

It was much exaggerated. It was like slightly messier areas. Just more litter, grime, people drove more recklessly and you could see the outline on the curb of where I think a burned down car had stood. Pretty peaceful, organised.

I saw someone litter. When he noticed me noticing he smiled. I think a swede besides not doing it, would have felt shame.

I had a jovial conversation with one of the residents. After the ice was broken and we were comfortable I asked what he thought of swedish people. He smiled and said with a glint of humor in his eyes "what swedish people?" as he gestured to our surroundings where all the people I could see were brown.

You know, I fucking hate this shit.

The way NO FUCKING PARTY or ideology in our world any more other than actual Donald Trump can say "hey, cool, we won something! We accomplished something we set out to do!"

Everyone else on the left or right constantly pretends their group has never achieved anything. Libs are still acting like the South is basically Jim Crow and that gays and troons are imminently at risk of being bashed and left for dead anywhere less progressive than the Castro. Conservatives absolutely, categorically refuse to believe they've achieved anything on immigration restrictions in the many countries where huge reductions have been made.

"B-b-b-b-but we spent so much time and focus group money honing these arguments! We can't give them up just because we won something!"

It's true that immigration restrictions were recently made in a lot of countries (which is a positive thing that we can all agree on) AND at the same time our overlords are doing a bad thing by not kicking out the millions of people that came here in previous years.
So, you'll hear on the news "our country has had the lowest number of immigrants coming this year" you think "hell yeah", you go outside, and you still see millions of browns doing fuck all. It feels extremely discouraging

So yeah I guess that's why a lot of people feel very pessimistic about all of this, even when there are positive changes

Rejoice goyim, after importing enough brown people to ensure a future brown majority we have graciously decided to extend the timeline of White minority by about 30 years.

True, but as others have said, Sweden has only stopped further migration. They have yet to really make significant efforts to reverse the previous decade's worth of voluntary colonization. That's what people are criticizing.

They literally just announced a program to deport people who aren't engaging in "honest living" after immigrating. Let 'em cook. I for one very much am enjoying watching them come up with solutions to the problem. I believe in self-correcting, dynamic systems and people changing their opinions over time as they see changes in their culture. Sweden cracked down on new entrants first and is now starting to pursue the people already there. You've got to stop the sewer line from spraying everywhere before you can start cleaning up the sewage it left behind while it was busted.
