Support for Black Lives Matter declining, poll finds

A poll shows that opposition to the movement increased in the wake of Derek Chauvin’s conviction of George Floyd’s murder.

A new poll shows that the Black Lives Matter Movement is not getting the support it once did. NBC News reports that a national poll conducted by Civiqsrevealed that, while 43% of participants are in support of the movement, 44% are in opposition and 11% are indifferent. The survey tracked participants’ stance on the movement from April 2017 to Nov. 2021.

Results from the poll reveal that support of BLM peaked in June 2020 at 52% — just one month after Floyd’s murder — when 82% of the respondents in support of the movement were Black. More than half of the respondents in opposition were white.

Since then, public opposition has risen. It appears opposition began following the shooting of Jacob Blakein Kenosha, Wis., in August 2020. There’s been even more of a decline since the April 2021 conviction of Derek Chauvin for Floyd’s murder.

Vida Robertson, director of the Center for Critical Race Studies at the University of Houston-Downtown, said the results are a reflection of where Black and white America stands on issues of race. She also links the poll’s findings to the historical reactions during the Harlem Renaissance, as well as the civil rights and Black Power movements.

“These polls are quite representative of America’s approach,” Robertson said. “There’s no historical evidence whatsoever that America has ever been interested in Black liberation and building an equitable society. We are simply coming to grips with our romantic ideals that are running up against our political realities. And the fact stands that America has constantly, and will constantly struggle with the liberation of Black bodies, because we are endemically a racist society.”

Black Lives Matter was founded in 2013 after George Zimmerman was acquitted in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin. The organization’s co-founder, Alicia Garza, told NBCBLK in a Dec. 2020 interview that the organization is now changing its focus to more structural reforms, including driving voter registration in Black and brown communities.

Not surprising, a lot of people realized it's a rather far left borderline black bloc extremist movement drapped in the clothing of equality and anti-racism. (Much like Antifa.)

It reminds me a ton of the bombings and other domestic insanity from the 1970's.

This grift has left its adolescence and entered the mature phase. Couldn't happen fast enough.

There hasn't been much talk to BLM recently. Everybody sort of moved on once 2021 began.

The thing is, it accomplished fuck all. Any notion of defunding the police, any notion of police reform, is dead in the water because Chauvin got to be scapegoated and the Dems are blaming BLM for their downticket losses instead of Biden simply being downticket poison.

It was a grift. It was nothing but a series of overly violent Biden campaign rallies. It's no longer useful, so it's going back in the bitch box until the Democrats need some carefully curated social unrest. People were killed for absolutely nothing except to carry Joe Biden's demented ass over the finish line.

Of course people are disillusioned. They protested, they rioted, they voted. And in response their own leaders just laughed in their faces and put it all back in the bottle. While everyone else is thinking 'hey, why'd they let you faggots burn our neighborhoods down if this was all it was going to accomplish?'

It turned out the Democrats also want to send their enemies to jail. Who knew? About a dozen George Floyds have probably committed suicide by cop since then and nobody will have noticed, or cared.

I wonder if they have the mental capacity to realize they're just useful idiots to be used and discarded as necessary? BLM will be revived when it's needed for something again, not before. Same goes for ANTIFA.

I'd love to see them attempt to chimp out in the "off season" or wrong target and be pikachu faced at the response.

And the greatest blame falls upon the people, especially independents. They should have condemned these riots when it happened. Instead, they engaged in whataboutism and humored the idea that defunding the police was a good idea.

Well yeah, the grift was exposed for normies when their leaders cashed out their 4th cozy houses in a comfy white neighborhood.
No refunds, faggots! 8)

Well, you need to keep funding and shilling the astroturf to keep it going. BLM was replaced with the Jab! (that turns you into a Jeb! fan) narrative.

Blacks convincing the public that maybe blacks lives dont matter so much afterall.
Gee, I'm shocked. Maybe rioting during a pandemic under the government's sanction WHILE getting money isn't a popular tactic when all is said and done. Problem is that eventually, that will be the first thing people would think when Black is mentioned.

Wow a movement that props up (usually) violent criminals as it's poster boys and riots at the drop of a do' rag is losing support? I cannot fathom why.

The only things BLM succeeded in was being Spike Lee's wet dream and setting race relations back 50 years.

You guys are too optimistic.

The reason support is declining is because they're not useful outside of an opposition year, so they're not getting signal boosted. Until the DNC totally shifts to pimping for the Latino voter superbloc, they'll be active in presidential election years alongside a barrage of cop-on-black violence.
