You really think there will be another SSB game? If anything we'd have to wait until like 2024-2025 judging by the time intervals between each game released after SSB64.

I hope there isn't another, Ultimate was good enough to satisfy new character itches for most players. And for me, I was happy from the moment Banjo and Kazooie made it in, then when Sephiroth was added.

I can't handle the autism that will come if we have to wait for new character trailers for another 5 years again :(

I am of the opinion that the roster as of ultimate is fine.

"Why are there so many pokemon reps"
"Why are there so many Fire Emblem reps"

because they are both series that release new games full of new characters every generation. Unlike Mario and Zelda franchises who have the same character base. Fire Emblem specifically has so many reps because they had characters who replaced other ones. Such as Ike completely replacing Roy. I despise GaaS as well, however Smash Brothers akin to League of Legends where 90% of the point is "Who will come out next."
My problem with Fire Emblem's reps are that the series has a lot more than just swordsmen. Tiki's a character who can turn into a dragon and she even has an Amiibo, yet they went with all swordfighters all the time. Robin's the only one who breaks the mold, but not even all the way because he's still a swordsman.

Most of the Pokémon are radically different from one another, so I'd be happy to see more Pokémon reps. It was a shame we didn't get a single one in either of the Fighters Passes, but those were really disappointing anyway. As for me, they were just full of characters I could not give a flllllllllllying fuck about, and they ended on one that I especially didn't give a flying fuck about, that sort of turned into loathing. I got Kingdom Hearts waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back in 2002 when it was brand new, I tried to get into it, I didn't get very far and decided it was a bad game, and then the series just never went away, and it's progressed from being something mildly annoying to something I wish could be magically snapped out of existence, because its shitty clusterfuck of a battle system went on to infect newer Square-Enix games, and its protagonist was the big super duper final character for a series I've enjoyed off-and-on for over two decades. It's the most consoomer game I've ever seen in my life, because it seems tailor made to entertain the wide-mouthed soyjaks on Reddit who shriek like little girls and wet their pants whenever Disney klcks down their door and shoves an old character in their faces.

Also, fuck 'em for bringing over Banjo-Kazooie and naming them "Banjo & Kazooie" because that's what they've been called in GrOrIoUs NiPpOn all along. Like why couldn't you niggers localize that? Banjo-Kazooie's from England, fuckers, you can't even use the old "muh original name" excuse.

I know Smash Bros.'s roster is more or less entirely chosen by Sakurai, and dammit does it feel like a roster chosen by one person just going through his favorite games. There's not a single character that totally originated from America in there. Eight Fire Emblem representatives, but no Duke Nukem or Doomguy. Come on.

they were just full of characters I could not give a flllllllllllying fuck about,
To be honest, you are going to get that alot, I honestly couldn't give a Flying Fuck about Kazuya..but I am not going to bitch that he is in there.

That is kind of why..I advocate for "Game as a service" for Smash Brothers 6, just to reduce the feels bad of "I don't care about this DLC pack and I know it is the last one" Shit I don't care for Fire Emblem at all, but I get why there are so many "ANIMU SWORDFIGHTERS"

Fire Emblem is popular, has popular main characters..and is easy for Nintendo to get the rights for. It is why I don't bitch that we have 3 versions of Link. I honestly put the "All Fire emblem shit is swordsman" in the lap of Fire Emblem..making all their Lord characters the same...but they also aren't the only series that indulges in that bullshit either. *cough tales of destiny cough*

Yeah, I really can't disagree there. GaaS changes the marketing up in a way to where it doesn't feel like a zero-sum game, where characters you and I don't care about, like Kazuya, don't come with that sense of taking up a slot that could have gone to a character we actually wanted, like Nigger Jim. With each new character announced, that's one less chance for Nigger Jim to become playable, and it's only insult-to-injury when it's not even someone we'd try out for free. Like when they added the eighth Fire Emblem character as the last character in the first Fighter's Pass DLC, lol.

I've mentioned before in the main Smash Bros. thread that I'd like to see more villain characters in the game (I was so happy to see Ridley and K.Rool make the cut in Ultimate). King Boo, Skull Kid, Medusa, Porky, DJ Octavio, and Fawful would be great additions to the roster.

As for pokemon, I don't mind there being multiple reps from the series, there hundreds of the things, each with potential for unique movesets (and it beats having more FE characters). MY picks for additional Pokemon would be

-Gengar and Rhydon- both are iconic generation 1 pokemon, Gengar being a ghost type could have potential for a unique moveset, and since Rhydon was the first pokemon created (even being in art for Capsule Monsters, which later became the Pokemon series), it seems fitting that he become playable
-Necrozma- great design and moveset, and he has an antagonistic role in Ultra Sun/Ultra Moon, so he could be another addition to the "villains" side of things
-Swampert- my personal favorite in the series, I want one in because fuck it, they're awesome

Don't forget Megamind.
Hail to the king:

One of the things I like about the series is how it took relatively obscure and forgotten characters in the west like Pit, FE characters (which looking back now was probably a huge mistake for not just smash but for FE too), Game&Watch and ROB (and I guess BanjoKazooie to a lesser degree since it always had a strong fanbase). Kind of hoping they go back to focusing on 1st or 2nd party ips or Nintendo exclusives and dig up some long dead characters to revive, like the other racers from F-Zero, Onigashima's lead duo or Ayumi Tachibana. Overall, I just dislike the popularity poll aspect of it and just want to see random characters nobody expects be thrown in with fun movesets rather than hear about how shocked everyone is that another popular IP or Master Chief made it in.
Back before Ultimate's release, one of the characters rumored to be in the game was Mach Rider, and even though he didn't make it in, if a future Smash game focused more on Nintendo characters, I hope he makes it in.

More villains should be a must, like maybe have a villain or rival for every "hero" in the game. And if a character's game doesn't have a villain, just give a character an "evil" costume/skin at the very least. I mean that's how Dark Pit was conceived via Brawl before becoming his own character in Uprising.

I think instead of having multiple individual pokemon as fighters, they should simply add more Pokemon trainers with said pokemon on their teams. Wouldn't mind seeing Giovanni with Mewtwo, Necrozma and Darkrai on his team as the villain reps.

I also wouldn't mind seeing some of the other scrapped or considered characters from past games too. Like Ayumi and Dixie Kong for example.

On that note, they could add Blue, since he was the series' first rival character, and give him a team that counteracts Pokemon Trainer's (i.e., Blastoise in place of Charizard, for example).

Wouldn't mind seeing either Funky Kong or Crank Kong make the cut.

Blue would be a good option too. Although I wouldn't mind having both him and Giovanni. At the very least just have Giovanni in the background whenever Mewtwo's in play.

Funky Kong could work as a DK echo or costume like Alph, but if they use his moveset from Tropical Freeze that's fine too. Personally, I'd rather have Lanky over Cranky. I mean look at him, poor sucker has been out of work since Barrel Blast. He has no style, he has no grace, this funny kong really needs a fucking job.

Agreed. Justice for Lanky!

Must've been a bitch to ask Disney for permission to put Sora in Smash.

I would say there won't be one, at least not one in the same vain as previous games since Sakurai is pretty clearly done. But at the same time Nintendo isn't going to not make one of their tentpole franchises. I also doubt they will significantly change it up into a 1v1 fighter or some shit. The most they've mixed up the formula on a tentpole franchise was BOTW and that was basically just mixing AssCreed, Skyrim, and a few Immersive Sim trappings together with Zelda flavored paint. I do expect whatever the next game will be will have far fewer surprise characters if not just because Sakurai won't be at the helm so devs won't feel so enamored as to say yes to their characters inclusion.

Now that echo fighters are mentioned; Whould it not be better to merge all of them? Daisy is just a clone of peach so merging them would be no problem, but dark samus and samus would be to drastic of a change.

The problem with FE reps is the main characters are typically infantry swordmen. Corrin at least breaks the mold a little with their manakete stuff but yeah, they even had the opportunity to use different weapons with Byleth.
Sadly they didnt lean hard enough into it (have the 4 weapons have full movesets, incorporate Divine Pulse and Battalions to further show more TH content).
Personally I think the movement types should be used but again, the lords are rarely cavalry/armour/fliers at base level. Just throw the Whitewings in

Yeah. And if they can only use main characters, FE's Sacred Stone game had Ephraim, a male protag that used a spear (a weapon that hasn't been used by a fighter in smash yet), so he would've made a good option, although his design is just Marth 2.0, but there are plenty of alternatives from the same game with unique looks and moves. And this is another thing that bugs me about the FE reps, the majority of them are not just infantry swordmen and MCs, but most of them come from the new games (with three reps coming from the same exact game) while Marth, Roy and Ike remain the only ones from older individual games despite there being plenty of characters to represent each game in the series that have their own unique looks, weapons and moveset potential, and three of the new reps all come from the same game, Awakening, with Lucina just being a Marth clone with longer hair and a skirt that really adds nothing new to the roster other than satisfying most of the FE popularity polls at the time. A manakete rep that actually relies more on the dragon moveset unlike Corrin would probably be more unique, with Tiki in particular being a dragon that spans multiple games.

Now that echo fighters are mentioned; Whould it not be better to merge all of them? Daisy is just a clone of peach so merging them would be no problem, but dark samus and samus would be to drastic of a change.
Characters who are no different than the originals they echo (aka full clones) should just be merged and make them alternate costumes like Olimar and Alph but with unique voice sounds and reskinned final smashes. It would add more options for more character reps that aren't distinct enough to have their own moveset too.

The most obvious examples that should be merged are:
Dr. Mario and Mario
Daisy and Peach
Lucina, Chrome and Marth (and possibly Roy who is basically just a full clone of Marth now)
Lucas and Ness
Pichu and maybe Pikachu
Richter and Simon
And maybe the Links.

Dark Samus and Dark Pit are kind of hard to decide on since despite being full clones, they both still have unique traits, and Dark Pit's final smash is too unique.

And also have characters that were split merged into one again, like Zelda and Samus.

There won't. Maximillion Dood did a video on this exact subject:
TL;DW - Ultimate was a fucking pain in the ass due to licensing issues regarding specific characters and to make something just as good as (if not better than) Ultimate, the process would be just as grueling, if not worse. Apparently certain companies are just a fucking headache to work with and won't cooperate as easily as others. Sakurai is burnt out, and doesn't think Smash will be successful without him.

None of this surprises me to be honest. It is one of the reasons that "3rd parties" are a super iffy prospect for me. Like when Smash 7 comes out or Smash Ultimate for The next gen console gets ported. Are we going to get everyone? Because if not then that will be a real feel bad.

Good, keep your crossover shit in your shitty fanfiction ideas. Ultimate was meant to close the franchise for good, I don't get why the braindead autist monkeys want another installment that was supposed to be closed.
