Dude, if fucking Banjo and Kazooie were actually in this one, I'd be a pretty happy son of bitch.

I refuse to believe Issac and Geno make it in before Skull Kid.

Why? Isaac was an assist trophy, like Skull Kid, and is the main protagonist of his franchise, while Sakurai himself has said that he wanted Geno in the past. Personally, I always felt that Skull Kid made more sense as a boss, not a playable character. But I still don't know how I feel about the chorus kids being playable. Overall, though, I wouldn't completely hate this roster. The Chorus Kids just make me scratch my head.

The only reason for Chorus Kids was that they were a part of the Gematsu leak, which people considered gospel because it got most of Smash 4's base roster correct. The only thing it got wrong was Chrom and Chorus Kids, but they then went on to claim that they were originally intended for the game, only to be cut in the end.

That latter part may prove to be true if this leak is 100% confirmed.

The reason why the picture is so blurry, apparently, is because it was taken from a Snapchat video. It makes sense especially if the dude uses an Android, Snapchat is notorious with poor image quality on that specific platform. Also I was reading that the leak also comes off as legit because it has fully featured art renders that haven't been seen before (like Greninja's tongue and some FE character's foot) because it was obscured by other characters in the previous official versions of the artwork from the Nintendo Directs.

I can believe it, there's really more to prove it than to disprove it.

EDIT: And the other reason for the picture being so blurry is because its a panning shot that somebody stitched together. Look at the two seams in the middle-ish part of the photo.

Retrospectively fitting movie clip:

You can't have a SMB release without fake roster leaks. I won't be surprised if Microsoft gave Nintendo the OK to use Banjo Kazooie considering how subpar Rare been for Microsoft.

I don't buy into leaks too much, not even this one, but Banjo is entirely feasible since he got his start on the Nintendo 64, and Nintendo and Microsoft have been buddy-buddy lately with cross platform play on top of flirting with each other on Twitter.

Between Microsoft and Nintendo, and Sony and Nintendo, the former has less of a bitter rivalry as Sony's video game department is infamous for being born out of Nintendo's hubris through screwing over Sony. Some early Nintendo games even had easter eggs mocking the Playstation. Microsoft has always just sort of existed in terms of a being a major competitor to Nintendo, they don't have many negative interactions.

The printing company he was a part of deconfirms the leak. I found this on the Smashboards.

Translation:
Rumors of privacy leak on the latest version of the super smash bros game report a link to our company. All these rumors only support one idea, journalism is not limited to searching google.
Indeed, the person involved in this "rumor", if so, is no longer present in our company since November 2016., which has not put its linkedin profile up to date, some wanted to make a rapprochement with The Marina workshops that cannot exist.
Namco is a company we have worked with and with which we want to work again, this is not the case currently for the launch of super smash bros ultimate. These rumours are therefore discrediting our widely recognized professionalism, particularly with regard to our confidentiality commitments.
We are now contacting all these sites and namco / Nintendo to remove this false information and evaluate the judicial suites to be given.
The Marina Team.

Reddit's detective work already found the company he's currently working for and it's in that same industry, they only got the company wrong.

/v/'s own sleuthing also dug into the company he currently (ACP PLV) works for, they have an Assassin's Creed display visible on their website (click the "Signalétique" tab to avoid having to scroll through the unrelated crap).

This only seems to confirm that the employee was formerly involved in Marina and that the company had nothing to do with the leak. Someone pointed out that the person in question now works for a place called ACP PLV.

The person also has another LinkedIn that was updated to include the new company, where they've been employed for 1 year and 8 months.

The insanity continues for now.

EDIT: NINJA'D

In recent news, Liam Robertson has this to say on Twitter:

"What I'm hearing now is that Eric Bricard (the artist who supposedly posted the Smash art) was contacted and denied having anything to do with this whole thing. So, it's looking like the person responsible has been impersonating him."

https://www.reddit.com/r/smashbros/comments/9rb02w/liam_robertson_on_twitter_what_im_hearing_now_is/

This still doesn't outright deconfirm the leak, but we now know that the person leaking is an anonymous employee impersonating Eric Bricard.

At this point the only way this leak can be considered fake is if either:

1) The leaker comes out and confesses.

2) Nintendo outright deconfirms the leak in the next Direct, which should be coming soon.

Liam Robertson has never been right about anything so I'd doubt everything he says. The memes are on point at least:

Let's be real here, if your friend leaked a game as big as smash because you were dumb enough to show him the full roster, would you really want to admit that you were the one who did it?
