No Shantae or Ashley but they hired another dog. That's genius.

Good thing Villager had the foresight to get her out of town and let Nook take charge.
Otherwise this would have happened:

Isabelle confirmed for Smash Ultimate! And she's not a Villager echo, like some people were expecting.
She's to Villager like Ganondorf is to Captain Falcon.

Which is good because while I really like Villager, I don't like relying on his slingshot when it's his bread and butter. Isabelle doesn't seem to have a slingshot, so I might actually play her. I like Isabelle, anyway, even if her personality is just a yes-man.

Anyway, this is the third character who's been promoted from an assist trophy/final smash to a full-on character, behind Chrom and Dark Samus. The only one who's left is just Shadow, who has not had his assist trophy revealed and also the Sonic reskin that referenced Shadow was removed, just as Dark Samus was for Samus and Ike was for Chrom. I don't normally like making predictions or speculation, but I'm at least good at pattern recognition.

The one thing to note about this is that this kills a LOT of leaks. Specifically, any mentioning Isabelle as an echo. If anything she's like a mix of what Falco and Lucas to Fox and Ness. However, two leaks remain

Spoilers just in case it becomes real.

Leak 1:
Leak 1 mentions Dante from Devil May Cry. Why him of all people who's never appeared on Nintendo consoles outside of spinoffs, you may ask? Ask Cloud that. Anyways, this huge collage shows what's been done and said if you want more info but the basic info you need to know is a guy leaked stuff about DMCV before GamesCom, and turns out he was right about a lot of it (Dante's Motorcycle is his new weapon that can be dual wielded and act like chainsaws, V's staff summoning monsters, etc.) He also mentions a trailer for Smash Ultimate involving "A girl from Fire Emblem (It could be Lucina but it could be a newcomer or even Female Robin or Corrin) and a dragon (Rathalos? Grima from Fire Emblem Awakening?) and Dante helps her and at the end of the trailer, he throws a rose towards her."

Leak 2:
Posted two days before the delayed Direct, a person chimed in about a post involving Dante on a screenshot of some new stage, or at least a stage not yet seen.

My dream really would be to see Terry Bogard and Sub-Zero as 3rd Party Guests. Just because having Street Fighter, KOF, and Mortal Kombat all appear in one game would really be only possible in Smash Bros.

Also I say Sub-Zero because with his Ice Powers he’s the only Kombatant that could appear in Smash and not feel watered down due to lack of gore.

As long as Sub-Zero's final smash is pulling 15 spines out of Kirby.

I would have prefered Tom Nook before Isabelle but I won't complain, she's cool too.

Will her final smash be giving a bunch of paperwork to the other characters?
Edit: realized we saw her final smash, Nook and his goons build the town hall

Also it's now a meme to pair Isabelle with Snake.

Also apparently Isabelle is super popular even among people who don't play Animal Crossing in Japan, where she is a regular character on PSA's for the transport system there.

Essentially, to the perception of some people, we just got a playable rep for the speedrail systems.

Oh, look! Another character I've never heard of is now in the critically acclaimed Smash.

Shulk, Bayonetta, many others, and now Isabelle.

Somebody was diagnosed with cancer and said he was worried he wouldn't make it to play Smash Ultimate. Nintendo heard and gave him a copy of the E3 demo in his hospital room.

In related news, this purported leak came out.

upload_2018-9-21_15-10-22.png

It's yet to be disproven and people who generally debunk this sort of stuff can't find much to say it's leaked. There's tiny details, such as the discolored pixel on Pacman's taunt sprite being consistent with what was revealed in a gameplay trailer, and consistency related to a graphical bug where the shadows of characters don't appear on the metal gratings of the stage. In addition to that, this stage has also never been shown without it being covered in ink on the top area.

I'm nonplussed by this, although I was in the camp of many other people who predicted Ken as a Ryu echofighter. Either way, I don't put any stock in leaks, legit or otherwise, until the full reveal is given.

I don't know. His icon picture is almost completely invisible and his character model just feels off compared to the other three. His is the only one that doesn't look like it's actually there with the others. It's not a feeling I get from the official screenshots and videos.
that be the uncanny valley effect
and holy shit we might eat crow if these leaks are faker than Chris's womanhood yet Ken turns out to be in the game
though if that happens we can try to chalk it up to being a fluke

The icons become transparent when they overlay a character on the screen, which I think is a new feature (or it was introduced in 4) and Ken has the same creepily off art style as Ryu.

So far it all matches up. I'm not saying you should definitely believe it, just that there's nothing yet to disprove it.

I don't mean that the model doesn't fit in with the others (as there are many different style characters in Smash), but that he feels like a foreign addition to that particular picture. It's different compared to the official one up above, where there are two very different contrasting characters but they both exist in the same space. Does that make sense?

At any rate I wouldn't be surprised if Ken was an official addition, but yeah I'd attribute that to being just a lucky fluke.
