I always felt that "Ridley is too big" was the biggest bullshit excuse ever. People can whine all they want, as far as I'm concerned it's awesome and has been a long time coming. It's about time Metroid finally gets some of the representation it deserves.
I personally blame the fact that Nintendo didn't care enough about Metroid to give it proper love for the last couple of years until now.

Whining about a character making it into smash is the dumbest thing ever. I can understand being upset if you wanted a character to get in but they didn't (like Waluigi) but the other way around is stupid. If you didn't want Ridley in smash, no one is forcing you to play as him.
Personally I didn't think Ridley would make it into smash, but now I'm glad he's here.

The whole whining about a character getting in or not getting in is silly. Considering there are people extremely salty about Ridley in Smash and people bitching about Daisy being an Echo Fighter. There are people who constantly whine that characters like Rayman, Crash and Indie characters like Shantae aren't in it. What is funnier. these people boycott the game or whine about it for years like some manchild that cried over Snivy not being playable. People have that logic of "If it is on Nintendo, it can get in smash!" Does that mean Shaq can get in?

I could careless who gets in or not.

The big problem with including Ridley is that they'd also have to include Meta-Ridley.

And no one fucking wants to see that in High Definition Tv. :'(

I always thought Ridley2Big was an inside joke not a legit thought.
Pretty sure the anti-Ridley camp ran with it unironically.

Meta-Ridley is already confirmed as one of the alternate colors, it's in the reveal trailer.

Oh, so Ridley is confirmed to be a Smasher after all. And it occurred to me that Meta Ridley was in Brawl, so never mind that thought as well. I just think Meta Ridley was bizarre, when I first saw him.

I always thought Kraid should have been in it rather than Ridley, to be honest.

And I'm glad everyone who's been a Smasher in the past will be back, since I missed the previous game and would love to play as the likes of Duck Hunt, Cloud Strife, a Mii dressed as Geno, of course, Pauletena, and of course my introvert star Queen Rosalina.

People that swear by Melee are an odd bunch. They want the newest smash bros games to have 100% of the physics and mechanics of Melee with more characters. It's like they hate change in any form.

Ironically enough Smash U supposedly has the same stuff Melee has due to the reworked air dodge system, including wavedashing, wavelanding, and dash dancing according to the high level players who've tested it. The only difference is that it isn't busted so a character isn't made or broken by their ability to do it. So it actually is the Melee 2.0 they've been begging for.

It may have those things but it's still different because dodging into the ground gives you a lot of lag.

That is true. However they've changed dashing you can do anything out of dash and slide while doing it, including smashing (in any direction, including reverse of the direction you're dashing) which effectively emulates the purpose of wavedashing.

Either way, apparently the game's lead developer Sakurai was watching the invitational, including a moment where a Ridley player got 0-to-death'd by Bayonetta combos. According to people watching Sakurai's reaction, he showed an expression of utter bewilderment when it happened and interviewed the players afterward, so the game will definitely have some major overhauls before or after launch.

They are the kinds of people who would beg and plead for Melee HD for Switch, only to not buy it and say that it's superior on Gamecube.

As long we get the Cheetah Men.

I'm still holding out for Trevor Philips to get in. He won't be the first character from a game rated M to get into Super Smash Bros., and you can probably sanitize him and any references to GTA V enough for inclusion.

As for that Waluigi thing, I think he gets in as a playable character eventually. I can see Nintendo waiting until practically the last second before the game hits stores to announce that you can finally play as him. Or, Nintendo will give in to all of the bitching on the internet and announce him as the first new fighter right away.

Or they'll wait and release Waluigi with a DLC pack of former assist trophies that were promoted to fighters, along with Devil, Isaac, Saki Amamiya, Shadow, Dillon, Elec Man, Magnus and Phosphora.

Just not Tingle, though. Anybody but Tingle.
