Even as a joyless tryhard myself, the game is insanely fun with items and the goofy stages. I've gotten people who genuinely only saw Smash for its competitive value to try out items and fun stages and they started having little "breaks" from playing the game seriously to just cut loose and turn on silly setups.I love how there are people that are immediately thinking about Smash as a competative game. Meanwhile, my friends and I have made a pact to not only allow all items, but to set them to the highest setting. Excluding the No Items, Fox Only, Final Destination match, of course.
From my personal experience, tryhards who can also play the game with items on while using random characters and playing gimmicky stages tend to be better players anyway since it allows them to practice adaptability. It also helps maintain their passion because it stops the game from going from a fun experience to a chore. People who refuse to enjoy the game in its wackiest form are boring husks of human beings.

I haven't been paying much attention to Vergeben, so I'm not sure if people are still believing him after him being outed as a fraud again. But I wouldn't doubt people still do.

Also, /v/ has been making memes of Virgenben's "insiders" confusing Cubivore content for Minecraft content.

And do you know what's even funnier? Even with all the instances of him getting BTFO'd he still said there would be some form of Minecraft content in the base game until the bosses were datamined. Now he's being eerily silent regarding the whole thing.
