What people forget is that even if M2K and Armada come up with an extremely limited list of stages they wanna see.... it’s not their decision at the end of the day; it comes down to the tournament organizers to decide, and honestly I see most of those “question mark” stages making it thru.
I just remembered this idiotic thing. Don't watch the whole video because your brain will deprive itself from oxygen as a defense mechanism from this stupidity.

In short, there is a controller setup called "Bidou" for Smash 4 where you map absolutely ridiculous controller inputs.

For what purpose? Well, you can more, uh, "easily" do what is Smash 4's version of wavedashing, which is called a "perfect pivot." It is effectively the same idea, the only difference is instead of being able to move a substantial distance as you can with wavedashing, you move...maybe a sliver. It also let you do some other stuff, like...running slower than normal. Wow! But I'll explain why that's also stupid in a bit.

People hailed this as the "removal of Smash 4's skill cap," saying it was the future of Smash. It was only a matter of time, they so fanatically said, that a player would take a tournament using Bidou. This supposedly would herald an era of every competitive player using this carpal tunnel-inducing, moon-logic button layout.

And so many players unlearned the intuitive controls that were already ingrained in their memory and decided to use Bidou, destroying their hands and unlearning any form of competency they had gained with the game. Unsurprisingly, the people using Bidou could indeed use many of these difficult techniques, but they were absolutely terrible at everything else because of how unhelpful the control layout is. I had never heard of anybody taking any tournaments using this, but people still persisted...for some reason, insisting that this layout was the future!

Cue the future. In Ultimate, it is confirmed that the techniques which would otherwise require tricky hands or Bidou are actually so braindead-easy to input now that it doesn't actually require any practice. The biggest is the ability to act out of dash for any attack, which effectively replaces the purpose of perfect pivots/wavedashing. As for the other techniques Bidou supposedly helped you do more easily...well...they just weren't difficult techniques to begin with, and simply require skilled hands, skilled hands which take substantially less effort to refine than relearning how to play the game using such a pointless button layout.

Bidou was already a failure backed by deluded buffoons who tortured themselves for little reason. But now Bidou has been rendered completely pointless, making the people who learned the layout for a benefit which was heavily outweighed by the costs waste hours of their lives for a venture which in itself is a fruitless time waster.
Heh... I remember when Bidou tech was something people tried to make a thing...

What a stupid fucking idea.

Didn’t the community go through the exact same process with the Hitbox fightsticks before this?

I can’t speak to the smash community, but there were very successful SFIV players on hitbox.

Though I’d posit a guess that the fact that SSB is analog, not digital, makes hitbox an exceptionally dumb idea.
Edit: dear god, it’s even worse than I imagined:

Sort of. Those fell out of fashion because it was considered cheating using a controller which lets you perform actions which are ordinarily impossible or very difficult otherwise, which is correct.

You mean stuff like wavedashing?

>lack of game modes
>I'll just stick to Project M
Yea man, because playing on Final Destination with no items is totally different than what you're used to.
These people cried because they got rid of past characters like Roy. They bring them back. They complain because MY WAIFU DIDNT MAKE IT. They decide to bring all characters and have some new ones. MUH BANJO AND GENO REEEEEEE WHERES MUH INDIE CHARACTERS!! WHY DOES SOMEONE LIKE BELMONT GET A SPOT WHILE MY LOLI WHO IS SOME MINOR CHARACTER IN WARIO DOESNT?!?!?. Ffs either play the game or don't. They don't have to cater to every obese manchild that plays these games. it's a children's party game.

I mean if you're a obscure fag that only looks for one specific background character, then you're going to be disappointed in any line up.

Also so there for piranah plant. Especially if my boy Lucas didn't make it.

If a plant is playable, so can a limbless slime can join the party.
Ever play Dragon Quest Heroes Rocket Slime? There's a game to base it's moveset on, palette swaps, and a final smash in the form of the giant tanks from the game. That might be fun, creative, and unique. But that's not what we want in smash, is it? It's become much less of a "what would be creative and fun" and more of "X needs to be in because I say so." If you want to get the idea across, you need a case, and "She's My Waifu" or "He looks cool" doesn't cut it.

And you know, if Slime does make it in at some point, it would be the closest we ever come to having Goku in Smash, since Akira Toriyama did the character designs in Dragon Quest.

Not sure what Lucas you’re talking about but Mother 3’s Lucas is back. “Everyone is here” and all that.

A thing to note about Rocket Slime is that your attacks aside from the body slam are entirely based on finding and using items and throwing them at your enemies, and the game’s unique gimmick is that you can pick up and carry 3 characters or items simultaneously. The salt would be glorious if that carried over even though he’d probably wind up playing something like olimar.

Also that game absolutely owns and is absolutely worth the 4-5$ it costs online. I’m still mad we didn’t get the 3ds sequel localized.

A DQ character is better than Sora, Geno, etc. Dragon Quest is pretty beloved in Japan and has a following in the west. I don't think anything from the series is gonna hurt their precious Smash Bros.

There was a person that kept howling for Kilik to be in Smash Bros. Kilik from Soul Calibur.

Honestly picking up different types of slimes a la 'Slime Stack' and throwing them like olimar would be way more fun than just another swordplay character.

The only link is because SC on gamecube, yet they keep forgetting Smash is a Nintendo All-Star Roster 99.6% for the most part.

"But muuuh Shantae n scorpion!!!!11!!!"

If a SC Rep got in, it be either Mitsrugi, Siegfried or Nightmare.

With Nintendo choosing the dlc, I feel it will be mainly first party characters.

Among the stuff you have to complain about the game, you just have to complain about the character roster a lot which is like already big enough with over 70 characters, and it's all because your character did not make it in.
