tbf Sakurai was probably working on Uprising at the time and Pit is more well known than Isaac even before Brawl.
Development on Uprising started after their work was complete on Brawl, several months after the game came out. I'll admit, I wasn't really aware of Pit prior to Brawl outside of seeing the original Kid Icarus featured in a Nintendo Power issue doing a retrospective, so I'm probably not the best judge. Even so, Pit hadn't appeared in a game for 17 years until that point, which was longer than when the last Golden Sun game came out (2009).

Whenever I see a topic about how a game developer "betrayed" the fandom, I immediately think of the time Spoony ran around E3 screaming "BETRAYAL!" like a re.tard over the new X-COM game.
Come to think of it, these spergs are just stupid as Spoony, so it's no wonder I'm reminded of him when I see this type of shit.

My guess is that Sakurai and the Smash Bros team doesn't care that much about who the characters are in the first place. Yeah they made a poll for the community to see which characters the community wanted but I think they are way more interrested in the gameplay of the characters and how it could become an original fighter than how well known a character is.

Bayonetta was put in the game because they found a way to make her into a cool fighter with a gimmick on her own. Ridley wasn't put as a DLC in the previous game because the team didn't find a way to make him into a fighter... but managed to find a way to do so for Smash Ultimate. For the same reason Piranha Plant is a new fighter in the game not because it's a popular community pick but because they found a fun gameplay to have with this character. That's all there is I think...

Maybe Isaac, Geno, Waluigi Shantae and all of the other characters just didn't spark anything creative to be had with them. Or the gameplay ideas they had with them weren't that good. Smash Bros is meant to be a fighting game not a "my waifu is in it omg" game. So I much prefer them to put actual cool and fun fighters to play with in the game than stupid characters with no gameplay depth just to pander to some crazy fans on the internet.

But no... must be because Sakurai is a bad man who don't know anything about the community and gaming...

Didn't stop Pit from getting in Brawl.

Pit was inconic at last and had some Nintendo history. Even if the first game was a flop and he appeared in the Captain N show and comic.

I swear, many of the Smash fans are fucking idiots. We can't have nice things because of shit like this.

People talking about a sequel when a game isn't even out baffles me.

IIRC, Sakurai actually left Hal Laboratory at least in part because he was personally sick of people asking him about sequels to Kirby games, usually before the current one was even out yet.
Really shows how little this fandom actually knows about Sakurai.
They probably only know that he made Kirby and Kid Icarus: Uprising just so they can have autistic screeching over "BIAS!".

Kid Icarus is an interesting case because there were supposed to be SNES and Wii KI games, but both of them got stuck in dev hell and cancelled before they were complete enough to show. It was definitely on Nintendo’s radar during Brawl’s planning and I wouldn’t be surprised if HAL stepped up and asked for the franchise rights to pad out the roster and give people a refresher on the character as a sort of promotion for Uprising.

My favorite posts so far are out of all the forums is the fact they act like the characters they ask for deserve to be playable no matter what and be surprised all an sudden they are not just because some leak said this or that and that makes the game's roster to be not good and Sakurai is out of touch just because he didn't put in that one person as playable pretty much discarding everything he and the entire dev team did so far just because geno is not playable.

And these ungrateful bastards have been doing this since Brawl, released 10 years ago.
They've been rude, insulting, and disrespectful towards Sakurai (because let's face it, they have no idea about everyone else that works on Smash) for an entire decade.

We need new young blood to take over, someone in their mid-30's preferably, who grew up with today's games but has experienced in the industry. Maybe then we'll get the characters we want.

All that shit coming form someone who probably wants waifubait characters (Ashley, Shantae) borderline indie shovelware (Sans, Freddy Fazbear, Steve) or anime shit (Goku or any other current Shonen protagonist) makes me realize that, no matter how weird Sakurai's choices for playable characters may seen, they are still a lot better than most of the stuff fans demand

'Murica Natives be salty:
'Super Smash Bros. Ultimate' Slammed For "Racist" Mr. Game & Watch Reference
DrEDc_xVYAAVr5X.jpg

The Internet is mad about a lot of things these days. The latest target: Nintendo Switch exclusive Super Smash Bros. Ultimate.

So, what's the issue? Well, apparently there is some -- alleged -- unintentional racist depictions in the platform fighter.

First reported on by DualShocker's Lou Contaldi, rumblings of racist depictions began on popular gaming forum, ResetEra, when one user spotted one of the game's characters -- Mr. Game & Watch -- had an attack that has the character adorn a Native American headdress, and then uses fire to attack enemies.

For those that don't know: the above attack is a reference to a classic Game & Watch hardware game dubbed Fire Attack. Released in 1982, the handheld hardware game was a single-screen game that featured battles between Native American chiefs and a cowboy Game & Watch who had to defend a fort.

At the time of writing this, Nintendo has updated or comment on the matter. Whether it will make any changes to the game as a result of the development, who knows. That might just depend on the level of backlash.

Interestingly, Nintendo notably changed the Native Americans to Bandits in a later Game Boy Advanced version of the game, aka removed the headdresses from the sprites. It's quite possible that this is what will happen in this case as well.

We will be sure to update you with further developments to the story.

I doubt anyone will take this seriously especially since restera is made as one of it sources and even then just what happened in Mario odyssey they won't cave in also is there any decent amount of Native Americans complaining about this or is it just one or a small group of people claiming its is "Racist" ? bonus points if they are not even NA.

2Chan's reaction to the plant.

Apparently their version of the people crying for Geno are people crying for other equally literal who's such as some characters from gacha games, or anime characters like Goku, Luffy, and Miku. They also hate the west, but to be fair, we hate them too.

Honestly, I’d rather have a generic plant enemy with a fun, unique moveset than Generic JRPG Swordsman #2000.

Seriously though, I think the hardest part of Sakurai’s job isn’t actually developing the game, but rather, it’s having to deal with these idiots criticising his every decision and accusing anyone who calls them ungrateful of being white knights.
