I get more excited when cartoony characters like K. Rool are revealed. I want more fighters like that. Not sure who they should add that would fit that category but I'm okay with whatever we get. Either way Ultimate looks really fun.

Same here. I prefer using the more unusual characters like Villager, ROB, Game and Watch, Jigglypuff etc.
 
Personally I hope they continue the tradition of digging up someone from the NES era to serve as the final newcomer. Lolo or Mike Jones are still the two I’d like most, but there’s a lot of weird characters from that era that could be fun if they got the Duck Hunt treatment.

  • Part of Waluigi's obsessed fanbase think that him being shown as an Assist Character is actually a Red Herring and he's a Secret Character, because he never appeared in any of the demos at E3 2018 and Sakurai knows how popular of a request he is.
  • Similarly, certain Lip supporters have noticed that the flower status effect, traditionally caused by the Lip's Stick item, has received an updated appearance for the first time in the series, leading some to believe she'll have a more prominent role this time despite the return of the item itself.
  • While some people are not buying the excuse for Zelda not representing Breath of the Wild, others are taking suspicion over Sheik somehow representing that game instead of Ocarina of Time, despite never being therenote At least the Twilight Princess style had some justification, as it was based on an unused concept for Twilight Princess; that and the game's respective Zelda also being there, leading some to believe that some surprise about the missing Zelda could be announced sometime in the future.
  • Due to Rathalos being a boss fight and Assist Trophy, there's been hope/speculation of some Assist Trophies becoming playable characters anyway as well.
  • Many fans have noticed that in King K. Rool's reveal trailer, Donkey Kong relaxes and scratches his butt while watching TV in a similar fashion to Karate Joe from Rhythm Heaven, claiming that this is Foreshadowing of him making an appearance as either a playable character or Assist Trophy. However, others have argued that laying on one's side like that is a stock Lazy Bum pose and doesn't indicate anything.
  • While not as strongly speculated as Skull Kid, some fans have speculated about the possibility of the Black Knight being a playable character due to both him getting a Mii Costume as DLC in Smash 4 and the increased emphasis on villains this time around. The fact that Chrom was made an echo of Roy rather than Ike also fuels this theory. People also noticed that the general sitting on the throne in the background for Castle Siege was edited to less resemble the Black Knight, fueling this theory even more.
  • One screenshot featured some of the game's fantasy swordsmen facing down Rathalos, with the same general over-the-shoulder perspective as the battle screen in the Golden Sun games. Cue fans thinking that this is a sign that Isaac will join.
  • Hilda is also being speculated to be playable as an echo of Zelda. Some people pointed to the fact that Zelda is based on her Link to the Past/Link Between Worlds design and that she doesn't have a Hilda-themed costume, much like with Samus and Ike not having their Dark Samus and Chrom colors.

Oh, and by the way, about that entry with Lip: That is most certainly added in by a prominent TV Tropes lolcow that goes by the username Midna. He's obsessed with Panel de Pon, a forgettable puzzle game that was rebranded as Yoshi's Island spinoff called Tetris Attack, and in particular, considers Lip (pedobait) his waifu (as evidenced by the now deleted Tropers Tales; specifically, "Perverse Sexual Lust").
In fact, during the Cloud reveal, he went on a gigantic hissy fit over it on the site's forums, which concluded with the audacity of claiming that Lip would be more popular with normies than Cloud.
And yes, he actually does believe that.

What makes this entire leak, though somewhat convincing if you're an idiot, look fake to me is the renders from practically everyone. Ken has Ryu's face along with a off-putting smile. The girl is supposed to be Agnes Oblige from Bravely Default while retaining Marth's nose and Palutena's eyes which explains why her face looks off, not counting how her hair is parted on the wrong side. I dunno how you can fuck that up.

I don't get how the Chorus kids from Rhythm Heaven would fit in the series, though Duck Hunt doesn't and he got in. Isaac from Golden Sun has Young Link's face, while someone pointed out how unfinished his sword is. Shadow's head looks off as hell from the angle and seems to have Sonic's pose from his render in Smash Ultimate. Isabelle could be her assist trophy model and Skull kid is literally the same model as his trophy in Smash 4 but in a different angle.

Most articles are also saying Banjo Kazooie and Dixie Kong are also in the game. The model for Dixie looks legit but it could be her model from the Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze games or hell, a trophy from Smash. Banjo looks a bit off to me, more of his 64 era look but more refined in 3D.

Overall, it's a convincing leak for any oblivious Smash fan to believe but the errors seem to be clear that it's a fake. But as we all know, Smash fans will eat this shit up like candy and make 20 videos why this leak could be real. It's the Rayman leak all over again.
 
I've been digging through this thread and I'm surprised I haven't seen the Magnum Opus of Smash autism mentioned: The Subspace Emissiary's World Conquest.

Jesus. Fucking. Christ.

Literally the longest fan fic on the internet, it's e-famous enough for Buzzfeed to cover it and several other wannabe shit sites like Buzzfeed: DailyDot , Kotaku , even fucking TV Tropes has a page for it.

Never dug into it myself, but from what I can tell it's this dude and his self insert and his Lucario saving "all the worlds" from some great evil called Subspace Emissiary.

The dude has been writing it since 2008 and it's still going, I don't know how or why but it's still going. It has over 3.5 million words, making it possibly the longest piece of fiction in English lit history, if this can even be called literature.

The Rayman leak was much better honestly, the video made it more convincing. I don't know how anyone has believed a single leak since then though when you can see how much people will go into just to make a fake leak.

Yep. I covered it a while ago in this post.

Some other info regarding this guy:

He is currently a 21-year-old college junior. The actual numbers is that it is currently six times the length of War and Peace. He's been writing since 2008 non-stop, which means he's been writing it since he was 11. He also hasn't improved at all, with a few posters at the time saying they read the most recent entry and saying it was effective sleeping material.

Also worth noting is in his Buzzfeed interview, he answers the 12 incredibly simply question and each answer he gave was over 2K words long. The example I gave in my post was that they asked him if he'd like to work for a publisher, and he somehow goes on a rambling tangent until he's talking about how he hopes Nintendo makes an anime.

SMASH BROS - the only game with a community with worse body odor then undertale. See famous posters like "leaker boy" and "goku_timmy2013".
 
Isnt Toon Link already going to be in the game? Who gives a fuck about Shantae? All I can imagine Shantae playing like would be Toon Link or maybe Pit or Meta Knight without flying.

Just grow Link's hair out, give him implant tits, jiggle physics, a skimpy outfit and call him Troon Link. There, Shantae's in.

The whole "SHANTAE FOR SMASH! SHANTAE FOR THIS AND SHANTAE FOR THAT!" is pretty much getting fairly tiresome.

Out of her games, Pirate's curse was the best. Half Genie Hero was pretty mediocre at best.

These people pretty much want so and so in a game where they won't play the character. They just want to say "So they can meet the Nintendo characters" type thing. Problem is when these characters come in. No one plays them or even tries them. They just wanna see them in their crossover. Smash is over saturated with Pokemon and FE characters

People ask for Shantae in other games as well and Wayforwards and Matt are kind of iffy from what I heard.


May have inked this. It sums up how fans are with Smash. Most people just want to see their character in the game. Nothing more.
