A while ago, it was revealed that an E3 worker managed to leak Smash Ultimate's roster about two days before its reveal at E3, stating that every character including Snake would return and Ridley would be announced. He was promptly dismissed and ignored, since people claimed he was being unoriginal. In honor of this event, I'd like to bring up this gem which was rediscovered recently.

This is an image posted by a worker at ESRB roughly two months before the game's launch, who was given a copy of the 3DS version early to see if the content was age appropriate. The characters who were yet to be announced at this time were Duck Hunt, Dr. Mario, and Bowser Jr.. Included with this image was also screenshots of trophies which were eventually cut from the game for being too sexualized for the game's E-rating (most notably a Tharja trophy).
Despite this, the genuine leak was heavily scrutinized by the board it was posted in, with people claiming that various elements of the leak were obviously fabricated, such as that the Wario icon was just cut from Brawl's story mode cutscenes, despite Wario's face generally never changing expression across both games...

...or that Shulk's face was just an edited screenshot of Little Mac, despite the only commonality being the placement of their eyes...

...or that Dr. Mario, shockingly, resembled Mario. For some reason. Hmm.

In conclusion, this overwhelming "evidence" led to this genuine leak being ignored and derided as obviously faked, and users returned to believing what was generally considered a real leak at the time--some guy who just got lucky and guessed three characters on the roster and rolled with it, who at the time was already getting the announcement dates wrong and was backpeddling.

Ironically, the same ESRB worker who posted the character select screen above would eventually posted a blurry cell phone video of the game as he played Bowser Jr. versus the computer, and people still believed it was fake because it was blurry. It just goes to show that people are so more willing to believe whatever outrageous things their minds can produce rather than reality as it is presented in front of them.
Actually, I remember that people believed it at least after a while because the guy posted gameplay footage with it too. I don't remember many denying it afterwards but it's been a while. Gameplay is very difficult to fake with that kind of quality.A while ago, it was revealed that an E3 worker managed to leak Smash Ultimate's roster about two days before its reveal at E3, stating that every character including Snake would return and Ridley would be announced. I always love the mental gymnastics Smash tards go through to convince themselves that Isaac from Golden Sun will TOTALLY be playable.
Golden Sun isn't even that great or memorable. It just has fans because of how little RPGs there were for the GBA.
I just find it funny (and hypocritical) that the same autists that whine about there being "too many anime swordsmen" in Smash are also popping boners for what is basically another anime swordsman. As much as I love Golden Sun for being a great game, I really don't want him in Smash.
People just want some niche character to be playable to cull thier nagging. It is like the Rayman Tards.
Also... figure I share this.

People clamour for other indies. Wayforwards is very finicky when it comes to cameos and crossovers. People who want Isaac from Binding of Isaac when the creator and the company that publishes him is very strict on cameos as well.

I guess their rules about what should and shouldn't be in Smash doesn't apply to their favorite niche characters (or even worse, their waifus).

Until every character (from video games or otherwise) is in Smash, people will never stop asking.https://youtube.com/watch?v=cxOboUFdfDc
Yet more Shantae "BAAWW" For Smash. Never ending. Never ending.
this actually seems okay but I know competitive players will REEEEEE all over this in a couple days
