There were definitely talks a while ago about it potentially being banned or forced to sell to a U.S. company due to concerns over national security and data privacy, but so far, nothing has fully come to fruition in terms of an outright ban.

I think rev2 is pozzed too, that's why I stay out of its discords and I'm knowledgable about the game enough to be self sufficent. It makes finding games difficult though, I just make a lobby, sit down and hope people show up.

Happens to also house a bunch of perverts, though I suppose that's part and parcel for the whole community at this point (iirc the owner of the main server had posted a bunch of degen shit according to them, but it's been a long while since I've gone digging through either).
