Even Melee diehards like Leffen and Mang0 or meme pages like Melee Hell enjoy Ultimate, so it's very disillusioning seeing the thought process of the most pure and unshakeable of Melee fanboyism.

At this point I only see people defending Melee using the sunk cost fallacy, whether they realize it or not. These people have dedicated so much time and effort in learning a stiff, outdated party game which is only competitively viable using a third of the content and countless physics exploits that they can't fathom having all that practice wasted. That very account tries to discredit Ultimate for having a buffer, as if that's a bad thing, when Melee's lack of a buffer makes it neigh unapproachable. Some other dumb arguments include the frame delay on Ultimate (when the frame delay has been equal across nearly all games), or how people "abandon" an entry in the series when then next iteration is released (which is common for literally all fighting games unless the sequel is terrible). If this guy makes a post saying l-canceling is a good mechanic, I'll jump in front of a bus.

Melee becomes more and more of a joke with each waking day. At EVO, people hate Melee because the games after were pushed back due to Melee and its bloated, needlessly long standard rules. Now at Genesis, people are as annoyed with Melee as the finals have now gone way over schedule with a few games ending in a timeout (with an eight minute timer, no less) with the same three or four characters whereas Ultimate has played on-schedule with each player in top 8 using a unique character (including character swaps). Melee Fantardation kills.

Maybe instead of banning every single stage with even the most minor obstacles (like walls, holes, and more than three platforms), they should learn to adapt.
And why should they care about camping when matches already go on for way too long? Especially since some of them will intentionally stall the match regardless of what stage is played on.
Competitive Smash Bros. players are the wizards to the virgin fighting game community and chad non-competitive players.

Smash 4 had a great system for its online where you could choose either For Fun or For Glory. For Fun put you in a regular stage with other people with items and shit while For Glory was on a flat surface with no items (I believe you could choose between a group or one-on-one but I don't remember). Dunno if Ultimate has the same thing (haven't been able to try online yet) but either way I think it'd be a good idea to incorporate that into the competitive scene. It'd certainly make it a hell of a lot more varied and interesting.

Even worse is that they made every stage have the exact same collision so that every omega is the EXACT same. Now every omega is the same shitty floating platform, even if it it doesn't make sense like with Onett or the Zelda bridge. There is less stage variety just so that everything is "fair" and yet this shit happens.

That said the Bayo stage's background is actually cancer.
