I have to say it's a fun surprise to see Pauline again--but unless the trailer(s) spoiled it, I don't think anyone expected her to be the mayor, like damn, girl. You got busy these last 36 years. I'm kinda hoping she doesn't become the secret villain in Wreck-It Ralph 2.

I think it's cool she sings the main theme, I was wondering why there were lyrics inside the cover. Implementing the original Donkey Kong into the festival scene was also pretty cool, very energetic. At the same time, I found it hilarious that my brother died right as soon as the song ended and it was to loop. :story: Good job there, bro.

A Hat in Time is the better game, TBH.

Forgot to mention this last night, but there's a secret in New Donk City that my brother and I lost our shit over to the point it's become my favorite "What the Fuck" moment of the game thus far:

This has got to be a movie shout-out or something, because I don't see why this is here, but I just fucking love how random it is.

Also, you can still activate it by not getting on the scooter. You die anyway because you're not fucking Sonic the Hedgehog.

I thought something was up when I saw the moped and nothing else, but I didn't expect what showed up. That was pure gold.

It's a Godzilla reference.

There's so much in this game that it's nuts. I nearly had a heart attack when I saw how many Moons there were total!

That was my favorite moment in the game so far.

I made the mistake of not exploring the levels and completed it really quickly. Anyone playing it, fucking explore and don't just go for the next kingdom. Get as many moons as you can before progressing to the next level, because that's where the difficulty lies.

The post-game reward is also really cool but I won't ruin it for anyone.

But without a doubt the best part of this game is chaining jump combos to speedrun the freerunning challenges. Once you learn the triple jump>cap throw>dive>cap bounce>cap throw>dive it really opens up new route possibilities. Plus some of the videos people have online are crazy.

Can't find the last three coins in the Mexican Kingdom. I can't dress up like a cowboy to impress a merwoman.

8/10 Stomping rabbits is fun.

Hey look, the penguin from Super Mario 64 came back and it's so fucking cute!

Too bad the fuckers fly, what the fuck since when could they do that.

Finding that out marked that my second favorite "What the Fuck" moment in the game.

Also finally got to see the eels because that one screencap was really cool.
You see them in Seaside Kingdom, and the first one pops out of the ground, never thought I'd fall victim to a jumpscare with this game. Was pretty freaky.

I think the biggest thing the game has going for it is just how gosh-darn happy it is. It's so fucking zany and in love with its own joyous potential that it's really infectious.

Play this game on D R U G S

they're probably the southern ones floating near the cliff's edge, that one took me some time too

>30 Second limit

I have put almost 50 hours into it. I don't like many new AAA games, but you know what...?

IT'S FUN!

I just bought a switch just to play this game. I just it's not like the Super Mario Galaxy games where the controls hold the game back from being great.

Brother and I have basically reached the end of the main game, but we decided to go back to get as many more moons as possible, so I'm pretty sure Bowser has married Peach ten times over at this point. But during the backtracking and further exploring the kingdoms, I just have to say Lake Kingdom's my favorite in terms of set design. It's kind of a small kingdom, I feel, but it's so freaking beautiful. Like it's so glittery and sparkly and shit, and full of mermaid-like folk and has fucking Dorrie, and the zippers were a nice touch. I dunno, something about it is very charming to me.

Meanwhile during that one puzzle Power Moon, my brother kept fucking it up and triggering my :autism: so bad, so I snatched the controls from him and solved it in one shot (compared to his... fuck, ten shots I think) just on a whim to rub it in his face mostly wanted to mess with it though. Stupid mermaid bitch ruined the stone house again upon exiting anyway, still was hoping there'd be a second puzzle with it. Doubt she's got a second moon to hand out anyway.
