I'm aware of that. But Will Smith hasn't jumped on any couches for it.
Yeah I don't recall Smith being too much of a dipshit with his scientologizing. The goofball shit his dumb son says could be from any sheltered Hollywood derp.

From what I recall, Smith said in an interview that he's not actually a scientologist, but has described some of its ideas as "brilliant and revolutionary". While that's not as bad as being a scientologist, it's almost as lulzworthy.

He is VERY much a scientologist. And his Son's rambling is also very much linked to scientology.

If Jaden has been raised all his life with L Ron Hubbard's "study tech" then there is a real possibility that he is functionally illiterate.

This. Dude is DEFINITELY a Scientologist. He's just not stupid enough to ruin his career over it like Tom Cruise. He tries to distance himself from it publicly, but he gives them money and he promotes them otherwise.

The downward trajectory of his career is a true sign of how little the Scientology cult helps its remaining suckered victims.

How has Tom Cruise's career been ruined? The last Mission: Impossible grossed almost $700 million worldwide and was well-received critically.

Also, Daily Beast is sperging about this movie:

Saying someone is a "not very big" scientologist is like saying you've had a "not very big" heart attack or survived a "not very big" plane crash.

For those who don't want to watch the video:

Tldr: Apparently a lot of Leto's scenes were cut from the final film. Also he better not cut himself with that edgy comment.

Funny, leaving the theater, I was kinda feeling that he didn't really have that many scenes in the movie despite being hyped up so much.

It kind of blows that everyone who plays the Joker now has to act in Heath Ledger's shadow. Seriously, someone should just do a campy Cesar Romero type Joker to calm everyone the fuck down and move on past that. The Joker does not have to be le edgy and deep Byronic anti-villain or whatever the fuck they're trying to make him now.

It's the issue that comes up with any reboot/reimagining/ect of an iconic or classic movie. The actor is always going to be compared to the original actor who played a big part in making the movie as loved as it is. Ledger was going up against Nicholson's performance, and a lot of people at the time didn't think he'd ever measure up to it. But it was a completely different style Joker, and Ledger pulled it off super well. In Leto's case, I think this Joker was still too similar in tone to Ledger's to fully escape his shadow. That along with the "damaged..." tattoo and Leto's "ow the edge" actions and comment while the film was being produced and marketed didn't really help matters. He was trying too hard to be like what people's perception of Ledger was when he took the role.

How do you even spell Nicholson that way? Sorry but seriously wtf.

However, I'm also going to disagree with you about Nicholson's Joker. As a huge Nicholson fan and a huge Joker fan, I regret to say that Nicholson's performance as the Joker was an absolutely dismal failure. It is the worst Joker ever done. Nicholson clearly didn't care about the role and was just doing it for the money, which is entirely understandable, but made for an awful performance. It could have been phoned in. It was shit.

That's too bad, since Nicholson could have done a great job had he actually connected with the character, but he didn't.

We all know the best Joker is Mark Hamill.

But uh back on topic, why people are so booty blasted over Joker and Harley Quinn being in an abusive relationship is baffling. He's a mass murderer for Christ's sake.

"strong independent woman" :story:

It's been that way since she was introduced, I don't see how people are surprised by this. Hell, the animated series probably had one of the best examples of an abusive relationship with those two at the time.

I actually wonder whether the requirements (energy, etc) in terms of playing IRL Joker means that the age range in which you can do it is limited. Nicholson was in his early 50's when he played Joker. I do wonder whether those two factors are linked.
