Which PD tries and fails repeatedly until they give up and accepts their fate to live a miserable existence?
Borderline Personality Disorder / BPD or the opposite of acceptance
Core fear of abandonment , emotional intensity
Behavior are cycles of hope, despair, anger, effort
BPDs never accept fate and will constantly fight it
BPDs go through emotional rollercoaster cycles. High, low, rinse, repeat.
I would say this, going into a long term depressive state and accepting a miserable existence is not a feature of a PD , its a general state that is caused by stuff like depression, complex trauma, grief, demoralization after repeated loss and burnout of hope.
BPDs are the high low roller coaster types, and when they are low, they think they have given up, accept the fate of miserable existence, but then will get triggered by something or hunt down "a new drug"
Honorable mention PD types that could end up in this rut
Avoidant Personality Disorder-AvPD can look closest in appearance
Core drive is to avoid shame, rejection, humiliation
Behaviors include withdrawal, self limiting life, staying small
AvPDs havent accepted misery theyre actively avoiding pain
Avoidants dont stew because they like misery; they retreat because hope feels dangerous
Dependent Personality Disorder-DPD
Core drive for DPD is fear of abandonment
Typical DPD behavior is staying in bad situations rather than being alone
DPDs will choose any connection over dignity
Schizoid Personality Disorder
Schizoids are emotionally detached, have a low desire for relationships and appear emotionally flat.
To someone else know knows them this can look like resignation
Schizoids dont stew they are simply unplugged/disengaged
