Speaking of potential backfiring to his magic, having in possession someone's blood without permission could actually be a crime.

First we need to consider basic biohazard safety. Was the blood stored in appropriately marked containers? Was custody of it recorded? Did he have the approriate licenses and credentials from the Vermont Department of Health?

Then we have criminal liability. How was the blood obtained? Bodily materials (Like Blood) are considered property, and it being taken without consent is theft under broad interpretations of the criminal statute.

Then of course there is civil remedy. I don't know about you, but if I found out some weirdo somehow managed to get hold of some of my blood and was also name dropping me with it on the internet as part of some occult ritual, I would be pretty pissed. I'm sure a suitably Jewish lawyer could put together a pretty impressive lawsuit from that.

Gonna open my smartphone right now and make sure that "potential STD notifications" are enabled on the Kiwifarms app so that I can make sure I get updates in case some internet drama unveils that I might've caught an STD.
