In my world Samantha prioritizes her own health and wellbeing because nobody else is going to do that for me. Nobody else is going to pay my bills for me, cook for me, clean for me BUT ME. I will not put my children at risk of illness or spreading disease in the community, and I have absolutely no reason to be made to care for ANY child without their medication; what parent sends their sick child out into the world without their medicine?
